Someone put a bet on them ending the game with 11 men too, and one on McManaman not getting his head kicked off his shoulders.
-
Don't worry, I've put my bet on with full faith I'll have £12.60 in my account later on. It's the only way to do it.

In his interview prior to the West Brom game he was raving about how great it was that they had 5 games in 15 days or whatever. Used words like "opportunity", "momentum" and "positivity" I believe. I'm not even gonna add anything more. If we stay up, get this man in. The players would get all cocky with all of that airy-fairy positivity man, we're far better off with the Grim Reaper getting the excuses in early so nobody looks stupid.

Put my last £7 on Wigan to win.

Been following the season with a Norwich fan at work, both sides have sunk like stones when they really should have been out of it ages ago. Would prefer Norwich to stay up but obviously not at our expense. mackems go down and everyone's happy.

The last comment's great.

Seems extraordinarily far-fetched, especially since 2 of the the main guys you'd want running into the box are Cabaye and Marveaux and they're either camped on the edge of their own box or sat on the bench when players such as Jonas and Tiote are on the pitch and further forward than Cabaye is.

If that's aimed at me, I meant the players... who visibly ran out of ideas on Saturday when HBA/Gouffran went off and Cisse was relocated to the win. I don't think Pardew's hands are tied whatsoever, he's had a good enough squad this season to have us in the top half without many issues. Not aimed at anyone mate, especially not you, you little pitbull , just my opinion. As i said tied my arse. No, I just meant because I'd just used the phrase "hands are tied" in my post just now (meaning the players) and didn't want to be misunderstood. I just hope we can put a good side out on Sunday and largely stick to it, I don't care if Ben Arfa's keeling over by the end we need him on the pitch on the off-chance he can produce something. Our dynamism and creativity is non-existent without players such as him, Gouff and Marv on the pitch. I know what you mean, i just hope the twat leaves our match winners on. The hands tied thing, i'm sure i saw it earlier, someone reckoned his hands were tied, which i think is utter bollocks and it was your post which jogged my memory. That was me, Bimpy, and they are. This game is entirely different to any that have come before. I don't give a shit about how much you hate him, or for how long he's had you crying. He knows this. Our players know this. We will try to win this game, and I'll go into it believing that we can. In what way are/were his hands tied, sorry? Bit in bold's another one to add to the exceptionally bad patter list. People still getting mocked for their concern at this stage. There's concern, which I and other people have, then there's a constant stream of 'woe is me, we're down, 10, the manager is a cunt, BUT we might stay up if we beat QPR' piss that he's coming out with. It's just annoying and embarrassing to have to read. Reasons are in my post. The game is entirely different to any that have come before, against an already relegated team. We will try to win it. I take exception to this you arrogant prat. I have stated for the last few months, countless reasons, the poor football, the poor selections, the poor subs, but for me it was always the poor football, the hoof ball shite. And who is it who termed the phrase "set penis". Tell me, was i wrong about them too ?. No idea why you're bringing all of that up, like. I'm talking about the last couple of weeks, hence the QPR stuff. You're not some all seeing sage, man. Aye, you were the very first person to realise our set pieces were shit and came up with some natty patter that people adopted. That alone should stem the flow of tears. Mannnn. You're just unreal. Totally ignoring this now. No more insults, no more replies.

I'm not sure I understand how that means his hands are tied tbh, hence why I asked what you were on about. You mean his hands are tied as in he has to try to win the game? Well fuck me, what insight, that sort of stuff's golden to read compared to the "woe is me" stuff as you put it. Honestly, backs to the wall and you're still pointing and laughing, whereas I think others are trying to be more constructive on the whole than you're making out.

Yes, he'll try to win it but he'll try to win it like he tries to win every game - by keeping it tight as much as possible and hoping to nick a goal. If we get one, he'll send on defensive midfielders and back off to defend 1-0. He'll try to win but he won't change his approach. I agree, despite it not working for so many of the last how ever many games. A novel approach would be to attack moderately from the off and follow a first goal scored by trying to get a second, then a third, etc. The ultra-cautious approach isn't working and we need to steer clear of it.

Exactly. It's now looking extremely difficult. It's not helped by how tight it is down there, you've got 5 teams on 34-36 points and 1 team in Wigan who you'd expect to get to that level of points in their 2 spare games given their recent form and general tendency for picking up points towards the end of the year. I think this might be the first year in a while you'll need more than 40 to stay up. I've had my worries a long while but thought we'd scrape safety, today is when I'm genuinely concerned we've fucked it and might well go down. Said this after the mackem game and still stand by the bit in bold. Either way it'll be close. Can't see 40 points being the magic figure it usually is this time around, I've never seen so many teams hovering around 40 points at this stage of the season. It's the kind of season where if you've got less than 40 you could do with trying to win your 3rd last match when you're drawing 0-0 after 60 minutes.

Ordinarily I'd argue that they really shouldn't need inspiring in this position, but considering they've all probably been talking to their agents for the last six weeks about their next move I'm not so sure that will wash. So yeah, he'll have to inspire them. They looked vaguely on their game on Saturday (while seldom being incisive) until around the hour mark, when the only 2 creative outlets were taken off within minutes of each other and our only good finisher was shunted off to the wing in favour of a useless lump. We suddenly had nobody to take the pressure off / attack the opposition, and could have actually lost the game while looking a million miles from winning it. Their hands are tied to an extent, we find it difficult to score at the best of times never mind when the manager voluntarily makes it more difficult.

Suggested the opposite to me those quotes mind, I read it as him saying he'd try to strangle the life out of the game more than ever. Please don't, it's like telling a kid santa isn't real He DEFINITELY meant he wasn't going to get too involved and would let the players do what they like, he must have I honestly read it the other way, sorry mate. As in it doesn't matter if we play well, we just need to scrape a win.

He'll make it difficult for them to make a profit if they keep having to bail him out. It seems they thought they could get away with signing Anita last summer, then Pardew starts being a bit insubordinate in media interviews when things aren't going to plan, blaming the summer of inactivity for the team's failures. They decide to give him the benefit of the doubt and spend around £15-20m on 5 new players, probably expecting that now that excuse has been extinguished they can settle for the mid-table finish they were looking at before the season started. Yet Pardew now has us on the edge of relegation, and has largely switched to other excuses. I admit that the main flaw in my thinking is that the brains of Ashley and Llambias think logically, however if you put that aside then the set of events above indicates to me one outcome this summer.

It just compounds matters, doesn't it - were you one of the ones saying a draw was a good result on Saturday and it was a good thing we held on for it? Outcomes such as Sunderland and Wigan picking up points this week make Saturday's approach even more difficult to accept, it's not rocket science why people react as they do to these outcomes. No I wasn't, my point is Sunderland just drew at home against Stoke and the way people are reacting you'd think we just lost a game and everyone else won We drew a game on Saturday, Villa won and Wigan won, now Sunderland have drawn. If Wigan win tomorrow we'll be in the bottom 3, how's that? It's almost as bad a combination of results as we could have had.

So fucking embarrassing, this.
