I think a lot of the groups looking at them will be looking at the accounts and thinking ‘No, I’ll wait a few more months and pick them up out of administration where I can reduce the debt’. Our good friend Ashley will likely be doing exactly this, even with £300m in his back pocket, a deal for Everton right now is too rich for him. He could though go in for them in administration and get costs down. If I was a contractor or sub-contractor on their stadium, I would be quick in getting my bill paid.

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to play Espanyol on 08/08/25

AC Milan confirmed for the lasses for the Sela Cup on the Saturday. Hopefully it helps boost the ticket sales. I do think £20 a day is a bit much. £25 for both days and say £15 for separate days would have been better. -

In all honesty they are fucked if we get a 70k-80k seater stadium whilst they are not even in the Premier League. You’ll see a change in parts of South Tyneside, and Seaham etc where the new generation of the families who supported Sunderland, would support us instead. It will creep over to the Northern ends of Sunderland, just down the hill from Boldon, and the outskirts like Ryhope etc. Look at them already kicking off about people at Seaburn with a Newcastle top on. They know that there is a chance of this happening.

Aye, the Staveley article is pure bullshit and it’s so made up that it doesn’t even know where it wants to go, does she want to buy the whole club or 100% of the club? Which club does she want to buy. It’s an article made on the back of a well known Spurs ITK bullshitter. A couple of days beforehand the rumour was that Bezos was buying them, haha. Anyway I said on our thread that discussed it, if Staveley gets involved in buying another club, it will likely be brokering a deal for PIF to add to their portfolio, likely for a Newcastle United football group. She’ll never own a club herself, and even if she does go in a direction without PIF, all she will be doing is brokering a deal and getting a fee for doing so, like she did for Man City. Good to see the mask slip, they will only be a few more steps away from believing she is going to bring Middle Eastern investment to them.
-
I’m not sure on the odds, but Doncaster to be promoted? They did that amazing run last year and went out of the play offs.
-
Nah, she’ll not be going for Spurs. I think she might be looking at smaller clubs to add to the PIF portfolio, and to potentially join a NUFC Football group. If she does go for a bigger profile club and away from PIF money, I don’t think it would be Spurs in anyway. There is no massive growth there. They have the big commercial deals, they have the new stadium. West Ham, and Everton be easier builds if she was to go down that route. In reality this is just easy clickbait and headline writing.
-
Not really, it’s also not that far away from Percy Main or Meadowell to warrant it. A decent footpath would be sufficient.
-
They just did, for £3m. 🤣

It’s never been owned by him, he took the lease on when he bought JJB out of administration, but he never owned the building. I actually forwarded the details of the building for sale sign onto Costco a few months back, because they are expanding in the U.K. I doubt they would take it on, but it really needs to be like a supermarket or Primark if Newcastle Quays next door is going to have any chance of getting customers back. The building is owned by a different company though.
-
It all depends on what they want and how inflation has made prices rise. If we built at the same time as Spurs did, we could have got Spurs’ stadium in Newcastle for £600m-£700m instead of the £1bn it cost them. For the same £1bn we could have got a much better stadium. £1bn now would likely not even be enough for a replica in Newcastle. So if they wanted the biggest, more executive seats, more flexibility in changing it’s use etc, then yeah we likely are looking at between £1bn-£1.5bn now.
-
Absolutely not. It would however be a great location for a small stadium for North Shields. It has been sold to developers though, whoever they may be, and we’ll likely see some houses on it.
-
I can easily see them spending £1bn-£1.5bn on a new stadium with all the corporate seats etc.
-
We also are absolutely fucking not getting £200m per year for the naming rights of it. Spurs can’t get a naming rights deal for their stadium, Everton are struggling on theirs. Man City, and Arsenal get nowhere near that for their naming rights deals.

Leazes Park is listed, can’t build on it. Basically a random dude reading the Eales interview and coming up with Tyneside Life conclusions.
-
I honestly think if they came out with decent renders for a new stadium at Castle Leazes, then a lot more people would be willing to move. It’s no good asking people if they would be willing to move without them seeing where too, or what they could get. You’ll always get some season ticket holders who are happy to stay put, they have their ticket, without acknowledging that ultimately if we stay, then they will be priced out of their seats. It’s the same with the club badge, asking people if you want to change it, instead of coming up with a modern version of the 1976/83 badge, or a Magpie etc being shown on potential merchandise etc is always going to get people saying they would prefer the same old same old. You have to show people what they could have, not ask them. As Henry Ford once said, if he asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.
-
Isn’t that like a national park?
-
The majority of the stadium was already designed and going ahead before Eales went there. I think the only thing he had a say in was the blinds that cut off the top tiers, however they are rarely used for Atlanta games now.
-
No they won’t. NUFC own the stadium, but the Freeman of the city own the land and lease it to NUFC with the condition that it has to be used for sporting and/or leisure activities for the people of Newcastle. If we do a land swap with Castle Leazes, then where SJP is will be turned into an extension of Leazes Park, with potentially a permanent multi purpose fan zone, and/or an amphitheatre like structure. If we move away from the area altogether (say the Arena site) then the Freeman of the city will take back control of the site.
-
Could have just stop the quote of the article at the part where it says ‘Written by Luke Edwards’.
-
It’s still a listed park. The only way we could land swap is if we swap SJP with Castle Leazes, and this is the only way we’d be able to create a significantly bigger stadium. The only other way we could do it is if Barrack Road Southbound was reduced to 1 lane, and we moved the footprint of SJP to the west a little, and South above the SJP Metro station.
-
Looks like a monotone version of our 1976/83 club badge in the background. I wonder if that might in fact be our new club badge. It’s very much blurred on shots where more of it is viewable.
-
To be honest, we are probably only a few decades away from needing stadiums with roofs, and air conditioning.

I actually like them to be honest, but the more simplistic ones with a smaller case. Brushed steel, with a black face, no date.
