I was one of the ones who gave up my season ticket when Rafa left out of what I thought would be best for the club (people are free to different on that view). This season, the Leicester match is the first match that I’ll be able to attend because of the demand for tickets. I am resigned that I’ll now never be able to get a season ticket alongside a friend, or any kids I might have. If we are ran in the right way, demand will only increase. A new stadium with a much bigger capacity is likely the only way I’d be able to take future little Stiflers to the match, or get a season ticket for us together.

The council don’t own it, the Freeman of the city own it. The council are in charge of managing it, and they passed that on to a company to manage, and they did such a poor job of it, that they ended up pulling the contract from them. The council won’t be able to object to any planning application that they have no legal objection too. If they did, it would go to central government to make a decision on when it is appealed. Leazes Park being a protected park doesn’t automatically rule out development of it. My opinion is that the majority of it will be built on Castle Leazes (which isn’t protected), with a little encroachment on Leazes Park. Where SJP is will be turned into an extension of Leazes Park, with a wide walkway leading from Strawberry Place, to the stadium. The entrance of which will likely house the old SJP gates. The stack will be taken away, and a permanent fan park facility will be built, with better access to SJP Metro station.
  3. 24/7, with personnel dragging passers-by into the store and forcing them to spend their money. It will also sell alcohol so that Paul Mitchell can have a pint as his wife drags him around shopping.

The way they actually said it though made it seem like it was close, very close, I think outside of those quotations, they actually said that as well. They certainly gave the impression that it was. The written word doesn’t have the same delivery as the spoken word.

I really think we are talking Castle Leazes, with a little encroachment on Leazes Park here. If it wasn’t for the fact that Dolly would now be outside the SOL gaining signatures against it, then I think they would have told us last night that this is where it’s going to be. Right now though they need to be crossing the T’s, and dotting the I’s and make sure everyone, even politically the will to do it.

Yeah, the lot more seats bit give you an indication on capacity. Let’s assume a SJP renovation gives us the minimum of a 60k capacity. A lot more seats really does look like we would be aiming for at least an 80k capacity stadium.
  7. I forgot to mention, on the event last night, they said that the Metrocentre store will be opening next week.
  8. He was alright man. When he got into what he does etc, he seemed pretty good, but the light hearted stuff he said needs to be taken for what it was, light hearted stuff to ease people’s feelings.

Get to fuck. My voice isn’t as deep as I’d like it to be, but it’s not like the dog whistle he has. Additionally I grow a pretty decent beard, unlike the flour dust off a loaf bread that he grows.

Yes there has, but I don’t think what has been said is false. At the end of the day, if they turn around and try to put it at the Racecourse, then fans will not stand for it. If it’s at Castle Leazes/Leazes Park, fans will accept it.

I don’t disagree, but the thing is that now fans are changing their tune from the initial consultation 18 months back.

The ballot is what fans asked for. It was put to the club during consultations, and also relayed to NUST who also put it to the club. The queue system works for people who can either get away from work for nearly an hour or more at 10am, or have an office job where they can do it as they work. It was no good for anyone else. Also, they said that the Stack vote isn’t official, but just to see where fans minds are at, and it’s clear that the balance is shifting or has shifted to a new stadium. They will do a more in depth, and official consultation with fans in the new year.

Haha. It was the board who was speaking first off.

It’s going to be a new stadium. They explained the 2 options, and asked people for their vote, new stadium won the vote. Not only that, they indicated heavily that it’s something that they absolutely need to consider, R.E. a new stadium. They hinted that it would be very close to SJP.

I honestly don’t like it. I like some aspects of it, but I just don’t think it has or will implemented well enough. Externally I don’t think it is relevant to what our new stadium will look like. Internally is more relevant, specifically the concourses, and hospitality areas. The stands look good, but I do prefer the way Atlanta’s stadium, and the SOFI stadium have went with the wrap around displays. They are very visible, without getting in the way, and not looking like they have just been added as an after thought.
  16. For the record, issuing new shares is!’t allowed from a PSR perspective. You are allowed to do it, but it doesn’t count towards your income. So if this is for January, then it would mean that we are allowed to spend another £35m that the club doesn’t currently have. It could be used for anything else non-football related.
  17. Until Christmas, when he hopefully has a Christmas dinner with Yorkie, and learns the error of his ways.

Is level 7 not good enough for you?
  19. I wanted to go today, but I had to work. I’ll be there for the Sunderland match. I guess alongside ticket price, you also have to factor in that it’s winter now, and fucking cold. Having a match at 2pm on a Sunday, with shit public transport, when fans will be leaving in the dark is a bit of a downer. Absolutely no reason why it couldn’t have been played on the Saturday, especially as most North East none-league teams were away from home as well.

The whole North Shields people shouldn’t support Newcastle and aren’t Geordies bothers me more than it should. First off, a Geordie is someone from Tyneside, heck even some people from Northumberland, and Durham class themselves as Geordies due to a connection they have to Newcastle. Novocastarians are from the city centre, but a Novocastarian is a Geordie as well. Anyway, North Shields is a Newcastle suburb. Ok I know they are not in the same council areas, but the definition of a suburb extends to areas in different councils, and is more of a ‘commuter belt’, and strong economic ties than anything else. Also Newcastle and the North East was deliberately fucked over in the 70’s with the creation of the different councils. It moved away from large regional huge counties, to cities with commuter belts. Look at the size of the likes of Manchester, and Leeds councils. Newcastle by rights should have had all of Gateshead, both of North/South Tyneside, and parts of Northumberland within its boundary. Cramlington when it was built was even marketed as a suburban commuter town for Newcastle. It was split into different councils though to skew the population statistics, to make it look like 4/5 different economic areas, rather than the 2 larger ones it really is. Teesside is similar with 3 different councils. RTG’s keep going on about how everyone in Durham should be Sunderland fans, and how places of Durham are pretty much part of Sunderland. In reality it should be the other way round. Durham was the big city, had an established university, connections outside of the region etc. Sunderland was the North East Durham town. The end result is that Sunderland has grown into a city, and they have been the winners of the population gerrymandering, the rest of the region though has lost out massively, because the government treat everywhere as smaller populated areas, rather than 2/3 major population areas. The private sector is guilty of the same.

Sunderland fans in March 2024: ‘How dare you disrespect the English flag by using a different shade of red on it for the England kit’ Sunderland fans in June 2024: ’How dare you disrespect England by wearing club football tops to an England match’ Sunderland fans in November 2024: ’I want England to lose because 3 Newcastle players are in the team’
  22. I’m not convinced it’s that. I think the standard so far in this league has been shocking, and by the same measure I think we have been rather poor, and we have played better in previous seasons. I honestly think our squad from last season would win more games than our current squad, and even beat our current teams.

I don’t think Miley will be a world beater, and I think we will likely leave him behind as a club. In saying this, Miley plays in the Premier League, and has played in the Champions League, and held his own. He is tried, and tested at a higher level. Jobe hasn’t even played at either of those levels. This time a month ago, Rigg was their greatest player ever, and before that Patrick Roberts. At the end of the day though, I think there is a distinction between our fans being excited about a young prospect from our academy, and a Newcastle fan playing for his club and looking like he will be doing so at a decent level, and them claiming that 2024’s Anton Ferdinand is going to be 1 of 2 of the greatest players.
