I was listening to the radio before and they had a European expert on talking about the draw. As expected he has said that pretty much in terms of progression, no one from the other 3 pots to draw us. Unless you are a weaker team in pot 3, and just happy to go to big clubs, have your adventure, and go home, I doubt anyone would want us.

I think it’s more to do with TV than anything else. They won’t want Man Utd and Man City playing on the same night because domestically in England, more people will watch their games than they will for ours or Arsenal’s. If you look at the teams who are paired across Europe, it tends to be the bigger clubs paired then the smaller clubs paired, especially when it comes to countries with 4 teams.

In the early/mid 2000’s I used to do a custom knockout full of the bigger names in Europe on FIFA. One year I even got a trinket and drew each team out on paper, making sure no same nation club could play each other. Sometimes I did it with seeding. Pen & paper style. Living a good 3 miles away from your friends with no pocket money as a teenager was no real fun during the school holidays, had to make do with what I had.

It’s a good move for him. He’s helped the national team massively. I think a bit too much blame is being laid at his door for Canada not doing well at the World Cup, and by his and others admission, they probably qualified too early. They certainly suffered to not being able to play European or South American teams in friendlies. This is it. I honestly think Liverpool are on the decline, where as we are on the way up. They are a shadow of the same club from even 2 seasons ago, and nothing so far suggests that they are going to improve.

I think today was one of those games where you just get caught out. We were the better team even before the red card. We still created chances after it but just couldn’t get that 2nd goal and got caught out by 2 sucker punches. There was nothing in that game to indicate that Liverpool will improve on last year, in fact quite the opposite, they look like a team in permanent decline, not just having a 1 off bad season. They do not look convincing in midfield. TAA and Robertson get caught out at the FB positions. VVD is done, he’s doing those mistakes constantly now. A few years ago he intercepts that ball before the danger happens, now he resorting to being down the player to prevent a certain goal, and he’s been doing stuff like that for a while. Salah although a danger, is nowhere near where he used to be, and he’s probably got half an eye on Saudi. Klopp is just turning the whinge on to constant, and you can see that he’s starting to lose the mental battle with other managers. Pep has won his, and if we had held on to our win today, Howe would have won his. I don’t see where it ends well with him at Liverpool now. He’s not going to challenge for the league now, he’s going to have a battle for the top 4. Arsenal are ahead of them, and I think we’ll be ahead of them to challenging for the title, even if it does take 5 years (and it will). Do we have areas to improve on, and do that show today? The answers to both is yes, but it’s nothing new to us. We know that we are building a team and squad, we know we are not the finished article.

Absolutely no need for us to have 3 men in defence for pretty much the whole game. It nearly caught us out in the 1st half, and Nunez had the pace to get that yard ahead of them when we should have just kept 4 at the back. You can’t say Liverpool deserved, we may never have created much in the 2nd half, but we still created more than they did. It was the ultimate smash and grab from them, and no I don’t think it was a Klopp masterstroke, luck just fell their way. Disappointing that TAA wasn’t sent off, 9 men would have been brutal for them. Also all the 50/50’s went their way again. Yet more of Klopp being a prick on the touchline and nothing happening. VVD needs an extended ban for abusing the officials. As ever these cunts get the luck, but they are far from the same team they were a few years ago, and they are well and truly on the downward spiral.
