  1. Is there any chance they've done this to expose leaks in the PL? And the fact their 'response' was leaked (again) to the same journalist in the same route as last time has proven a point?
  2. Losing 5-0 after 70 odd minutes? He’ll fit right in.
  3. This response was given on 10 August 2020 Football clubs have a unique social value; it is vital they are protected. The Government has committed to a fan-led review of governance that includes consideration of the Owners’ & Directors’ Test. Wigan Athletic is a club with a rich history and of great importance to the local community. The Government is aware of the serious allegations that have surfaced around the club and we will continue to engage with the English Football League (EFL) to fully understand the facts of the case as they emerge. The Government has committed to a fan-led review of football governance, which will include consideration of the Owners’ and Directors’ Test. We will engage with all the football authorities, including the EFL, during this review. The Government is currently deciding on the scope and structure of the review but can confirm that engagement with fan groups will be central to the review process. It is vital that fans’ perspectives and interests are at the heart of the review. Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport
  4. PIF should just buy a shit load of clubs and create their own European super league
  5. Looks good but I can’t unsee the fact it looks like it has a big “A” in the middle.
  6. This isn't based on nowt. There's legal precedent. Don't be so dismissive... https://gulfbusiness.com/asian-football-body-afc-cancels-bein-sports-broadcast-rights-saudi/
  7. I think the general thought is that KSA have found a legal loophole/excuse to terminate beIN in their territory, which they believe would render their contract in the MENA region invalid and allow them to negotiate a new deal.
  8. A red flag to me is something that would be terminal to the takeover. There can be a huge amount of obstacles but none of them mean that the takeover won’t happen. I’m fairly sure that’s what GC has meant when he’s said ‘no red flags’ - basically they’ve never been told it won’t happen, only that they need to do xyz if they wanna go ahead with it.
  9. Not sure he’s earned a new deal. Not even good enough to make Garth Crooks’ team of the week this week.
  10. https://uk.flightaware.com/live/flight/LXJ650 Private Jet from California landing in Newcastle in 6 hours. Guess where Henry Mauriss is based...
  11. Tbh I'd completely forgotten he existed like
  12. Pretty sure they've already said they're handing the majority over to local causes such as the food bank and the NUFoundation
  13. I'm sure that tweet is mentioning two separate things. It should be worded along the lines of: "The PL’s broadcast partner, beIN Sport, has submitted a QC’s opinion to league chiefs which states that the Saudi takeover of Newcastle United should fail the owners’ and directors’ test; in the meantime it emerged there could be another potential new owner waiting in the wings". I don't think that the QC is lobbying for the PL to reject the takeover BECAUSE there's a potential new owner.
  14. How the fuck does a dentist know so much.... Wondered that myself There's only so much gossip you can get from your client if you're a dentist, like Tbf to the bloke, he is well connected over there and I believe has actually spoken at FIFA conferences around health and dentistry, as much as that sounds ridiculous
  15. He must have deleted it as can't see it on his twitter. Pretty sure he was responding to the person/article that said it was 50/50. Can't find it but it was tweeted out the other day.
  16. He's the only one who has repeatedly and consistently been on the side of us, as fans. Never tried to bullshit, never wrote clickbait crap, just reported what he's been told honestly. He has a directly line to the buyers and is reporting what they're telling him. He's pretty much the only journo above criticism. He's admitted himself, he shouldn't have said as much as he did because it's given people false hope when they read into his every single word - and he therefore has stopped. Every time he has said it's close, it has has been slowed down by the PL for some reason. His info is always bang on.
