I think the general thought is that KSA have found a legal loophole/excuse to terminate beIN in their territory, which they believe would render their contract in the MENA region invalid and allow them to negotiate a new deal.

A red flag to me is something that would be terminal to the takeover. There can be a huge amount of obstacles but none of them mean that the takeover won’t happen. I’m fairly sure that’s what GC has meant when he’s said ‘no red flags’ - basically they’ve never been told it won’t happen, only that they need to do xyz if they wanna go ahead with it.

It should be worded along the lines of: "The PL’s broadcast partner, beIN Sport, has submitted a QC’s opinion to league chiefs which states that the Saudi takeover of Newcastle United should fail the owners’ and directors’ test; in the meantime it emerged there could be another potential new owner waiting in the wings". I don't think that the QC is lobbying for the PL to reject the takeover BECAUSE there's a potential new owner.
