Perhaps the leaking of these plans was done to specifically pressure the PL into accepting the original Big Picture plans (where the top six have full control)? Although generally speaking I think a Super League has been always been unavoidable. inevitable maybe but I struggle to see how it will last long term, the clubs trying to get this going are all very used to winning all the time are they going to be happy being mid-table or near the bottom? Or will they say screw this back to Prem/Serie A/La Liga where we can be the big dogs all the time
-
and personally I don't get the big appeal of a super league, for me the champions league is already getting stale seeing mostly the same teams in the knockout stages year after year so I certainly wouldn't pay extra money to watch a super league but hey maybe I'm weird
-
It would be so satisfying to watch it go to a vote of some sort and the other 14 support them in fucking off. EDIT: Just saw that article mentions 'up to five clubs'. Poor Spurs just want to be loved, man. might be City they want rid of, do Juve Real Madrid Bayern etc want a team with unlimited money daring to threaten them?
-
seems like a replacement for the champions league ie kick out the little teams and make sure they can't get back in, less a direct threat to the prem and more to uefa. The main threat to domestic football is the demand to make room in the calendar so they can play the "super league" on weekends to maximise tv revenue
-
what are the odds its one of (or both) man utd and liverpool who leaked this to try and threaten the rest of the prem that if they don't get their way they'll leave
-
so long and good riddance

there's this tracking it since the first football league champion Preston in 1888/89 https://www.uflc.co.uk/

I do hope nobody paid for the wba burnley game

1-0 Chelsea, horrible defending by Southampton sure just let Werner waltz around in your box whats the worst that can happen
-
1-1 way too easy for Everton that
-
VVD being absent for a while along with Alison could be bad/hilarious for the liverpool defence
-
honestly Pickford should still get some kind of card that tackle was horrific
-
I hate the fucking lines they use
-
lovely move that

they don't give two s***s about football culture anywhere let alone english football culture, they're American venture capitalists they just care about money and are annoyed the have to share with "little" teams instead of just taking it all and everybody else should just be grateful for the exposure Yep, I dont think they expected this reaction from the fans, hence why they've rejected their own proposal. love to have been able to listen into this meeting to see ed woodward and whatever stooge liverpool sent have to try and defend this idea

weren't they ordered not to go by the government? what are they supposed to do ignore them?!!
-
at least somethings been done for L1/2, sure its (interest free) loans and advancing income but needs must given the situation, hard to worry about next year when things are on fire now
-
well they could start by not spending 107% collectively of their revenue of wages before all this shit kicked off. A lot of teams have been gambling majorly with the hopes of hitting the jackpot with promotion it was going to blow up in their faces sooner or later, covids just accelerated the process
-
worst bit is the £250 "bailout" according to the fine print comes out of future money they were supposed to get with this plan
-
I'd love to see the "small" 14 just vote the £250m and £100m bailouts for the EFL and FA today with absolutely no strings attached as a particular fuck you to project big picture but won't hold my breath.

tbh when it comes to the super league idea, generally I personally find CL matches between clubs from the same country way more interesting than say Liverpool vs Bayerns etc. Theres just been so frequent matches between the giants in europe in recent years its lost its shine a bit

Is this on the PL, this one? Seems like it's the EFL's doing with MUFC and LFC going behind the PL's back. The Premier League will likely have been supportive of it or have allowed the talks to continue and not straight up stopping them. They will play innocent for as long as possible. With the EFL though, how many League 1 and 2 clubs who realistically have little to no hope of reaching the Premier League will be in favour of more money being dropped down? given they put out a statement fairly sharpish opposing the plan I doubt they support it in any way. Also has Rick Parry actually consulted any of the EFL clubs?
