for the clubs that survive sure but those contracts will still be there and have to be paid somehow so what 50-66% of premier league clubs would be absolutely screwed?
-
so messi going to work on his golf game for a year?
-
I really don't get where the hell everton are getting the money from, they've spent a lot of money on shite and its not like they're making much back on sales
-
And we'll be going to the Championship. I don't like Everton but I can't knock their ambition. ambition is all well and good but they've married that to ridiculously stupid recruitment the amount of money they've spent on transfers and no doubt wages in the last few years for 0 actual benefit in finishing position is ludicrous

I'd be getting rid of Otamendi instead of Stones personally, theres hope of salvaging stones while Otamendi is 32 and not that good to begin with

Barcelona. Now and in the future. Definitely not now. Mahrez and Silva basically play the same position as Messi just far worse and Jesus is good but isn't a top striker Mahrez and Silva could play anywhere behind the striker. Barcelona are in desperate need of players now. That would be 3 absolute quality players in return for one. It is better for Barcelona. and even with their combined wages would still probably cost them less than Messi does now

Koeman told him his influence and privileges with the team have stopped. So if Messi wins this battle, does that pretty much mean Koeman has lost both the Barcelona and Netherlands job? Did he sign the official contract with Barcelona? I don’t see how the president leaves? Him and his team have to pay off the clubs debt out of their own pocket should he resign now - can he effectively go on gardening leave and pave the way for a temporary government so to speak? I didn't know that the president and his team have to pay off the clubs debt if he resigns. But if he steps down next year, does that mean he is still accountable for the debts or he is excused as it is the end of the term? You basically have to leave the club in profit or at break even - if you have made a loss, then you have to pay that off out of your own pocket - these are the rules - which is the reason why Barca are in disarray - the President has nowhere to go Makes sense. But what happens next year then. Isn't there some election in Feb. Does the club have to break even by then? Surely that is not happening given the debts. If they manage to get cash for Messi plus getting his humongous contract off the books, that would probably go a long way to sort it out. They have insurance, mind, they wouldn't be ponying up the full amount themselves (we're talking millions of €). But they are not millionaires. would this pay off losses thing still apply given the amount of money being lost due to covid-19? Sure they have screwed up royally but they can hardly be blamed for that loss of income
-
depends on who they replace them with, Sue Smith or Clinton Morrison is a big downgrade as they're boring as hell
-
dunno why he was in the squad in the first place with that ongoing
-
wait theres apparently a clause in his contract allowing him to terminate it at the end of a season if he wants? What sort of moron do you have to be to put that kind of clause into of all players Messi's contract
-
still hard to see him leaving, who the hell could afford him even psg and man city would have to hilariously break ffp to sign him
-
does seem oddly quick to me, apparently Maguires lawyer only got the full list of charges only hours earlier which seems fairly dodgy to me
-
tbh I wasn't bothered who won this game, I have zero regard for PSG or Bayern
-
dunno who's stupider, Barca for appointing someone with at best a patchy club managerial record just because he's dutch and played for them or him for taking a job which he will be sacked from before the end of the season and misses out on the euros because of taking the job
-
yeah but give up a Euros managing your country and who knows maybe could win it to take over a falling apart team where you know in a year you'll be kicked out of the job regardless of how you do in that time to be replaced by Xavi. And in the meantime you get to be a mudguard for the current president oh and unless you do the unthinkable you have no money to replace the old falling apart team and nothing seems to be coming through the academy either.

hard to disagree with this tweet
-
er how? No one has a clue when full crowds will be let back in so thats already a major drop in income and its not like any football club ever made enough money to cover loses like he's likely to get in his retail businesses. Sure theres the tv deal but thats in its last year in an uncertain market and dependent on actually staying in the league
-
honestly probably City but the list of clubs that actually might be able to buy him is just City PSG and maybe Man Utd
-
I think whoever goes there now is on a hiding to nothing, its hard to see how the level of rebuild required happens in the current market barring selling messi which no barcelona board is going to do willingly. Whoever ends up as manager is just going to be an attempted diversion for the board to draw criticism away from themselves
-
Messi really should leave Barca he deserves better than this and its hard to see it improving any time soon with the morons running the club atm
