  1. Koeman told him his influence and privileges with the team have stopped. So if Messi wins this battle, does that pretty much mean Koeman has lost both the Barcelona and Netherlands job? Did he sign the official contract with Barcelona? I don’t see how the president leaves? Him and his team have to pay off the clubs debt out of their own pocket should he resign now - can he effectively go on gardening leave and pave the way for a temporary government so to speak? I didn't know that the president and his team have to pay off the clubs debt if he resigns. But if he steps down next year, does that mean he is still accountable for the debts or he is excused as it is the end of the term? You basically have to leave the club in profit or at break even - if you have made a loss, then you have to pay that off out of your own pocket - these are the rules - which is the reason why Barca are in disarray - the President has nowhere to go Makes sense. But what happens next year then. Isn't there some election in Feb. Does the club have to break even by then? Surely that is not happening given the debts. If they manage to get cash for Messi plus getting his humongous contract off the books, that would probably go a long way to sort it out. They have insurance, mind, they wouldn't be ponying up the full amount themselves (we're talking millions of €). But they are not millionaires. would this pay off losses thing still apply given the amount of money being lost due to covid-19? Sure they have screwed up royally but they can hardly be blamed for that loss of income
  2. depends on who they replace them with, Sue Smith or Clinton Morrison is a big downgrade as they're boring as hell
  3. dunno why he was in the squad in the first place with that ongoing
  4. wait theres apparently a clause in his contract allowing him to terminate it at the end of a season if he wants? What sort of moron do you have to be to put that kind of clause into of all players Messi's contract
  5. still hard to see him leaving, who the hell could afford him even psg and man city would have to hilariously break ffp to sign him
  6. does seem oddly quick to me, apparently Maguires lawyer only got the full list of charges only hours earlier which seems fairly dodgy to me
  7. decent journalism doesn't generate clicks and "engagement" compared to 5 things you didn't know about random bullshit etc and costs more to do so its out.
  8. tbh I wasn't bothered who won this game, I have zero regard for PSG or Bayern
  9. can we ban anything saying on pif until theres actually concrete evidence they're doing something rather than journalists randoms on twitter etc saying they have "confidence" oh and anything posted by steve wraith too
  10. dunno who's stupider, Barca for appointing someone with at best a patchy club managerial record just because he's dutch and played for them or him for taking a job which he will be sacked from before the end of the season and misses out on the euros because of taking the job
  11. fyp. trouble with the chinese broadcaster for the premier league after they withheld £160m in March
  12. yeah but give up a Euros managing your country and who knows maybe could win it to take over a falling apart team where you know in a year you'll be kicked out of the job regardless of how you do in that time to be replaced by Xavi. And in the meantime you get to be a mudguard for the current president oh and unless you do the unthinkable you have no money to replace the old falling apart team and nothing seems to be coming through the academy either.
  13. er how? No one has a clue when full crowds will be let back in so thats already a major drop in income and its not like any football club ever made enough money to cover loses like he's likely to get in his retail businesses. Sure theres the tv deal but thats in its last year in an uncertain market and dependent on actually staying in the league
  14. honestly probably City but the list of clubs that actually might be able to buy him is just City PSG and maybe Man Utd
  15. I think whoever goes there now is on a hiding to nothing, its hard to see how the level of rebuild required happens in the current market barring selling messi which no barcelona board is going to do willingly. Whoever ends up as manager is just going to be an attempted diversion for the board to draw criticism away from themselves
  16. Messi really should leave Barca he deserves better than this and its hard to see it improving any time soon with the morons running the club atm
  17. isn't the issue they wouldn't provide the info and walked away instead what changed for them to suddenly provide the info?
  18. honest question, why the hell would anyone think Chopra had inside info on anything?
  19. I think it's pretty clear from the murmerings from all involved that we haven't heard the end of it. The statements from all of the buyers for a start, plus little tidbits of information coming from relatively well placed journalists. its sounding like desperation from Stavely specifically, theres nothing to indicate PIF are in any way interested in restarting this.
  20. Because the very people the PL think are involved (such as MBS) don’t want to be involved and independent arbitration would need their involvement. As others have said - MBS couldn’t give two shits about NUFC and this is more hassle than is acceptable. Only resolution to this is if PIF can prove no involvement from MBS or the PL make some concessions. Talks remain ongoing though, internally with the consortium and MA to find a resolution before they plan on representing it to the PL. if your trying to find a resolution you do not reject a chance at independent arbitration to try and solve the impasse. They did its over
  21. Also, how did Martin samuels write about this almost verbatim yesterday but Masters say's there is no briefing to the press? I literally read about independent arbitration being rebuffed and there it is in Dicky's letter ? iirc things go between the club and the premier league for the test so easy enough for someone involved in the club or ashley himself to give out that info.
  22. interesting that it confirms the storys about the prem offering independent arbitration to solve the issue which they rejected. The question I'd ask is why would they ever reject that?
  23. thats a really fast way to kill the competition which would be a shame as I generally find it more fun than the FA cup these days
