Rory Smith @RorySmithTimes 49s Newcastle were one of five clubs who wanted to take Rodwell on loan for the rest of the season. Fernando falling through means it's off.

new owner of the club

We've got a chronic lack of ambition instead, I fear. Too many of our fans saying "we're not going to be in a relegation fight" without looking at the points bit of the table, just the position bit. Higher up the table this year, but playing wise, gone backwards, definitely. I think personally how you play seems to be more or less dependent on how Benteke plays, when on form you look a completely different outfit to whats sometimes appeared this season

Not being sarcy or anything but is the club generating lots of cash for him? Or to put it another way has he got his money back yet? not in the slightest

Cattermole move apparently dead

More money he keeps the quicker our loan to him is gone and he has no reason to stay other than the fact he'd probably want a profit then, a debt free club with good income a large stadium and crowd etc £300m please

attacked Fonte in training so basically throwing him out Yeah, but still... You'd think they'd be interested in getting their money back. James Horncastle @JamesHorncastle 15m Juventus announce Osvaldo signing on loan until end of the season. Option to sign him for €19m payable over 3 yrs expires on May 31, 2014 thats around what they paid I think. Still disastrous signing all in all.

Newcastle will target Hoolahan and Morrison if they can't get Duricic Neil Ashton: Newcastle will go domestic if they cannot get Duricic across the line tonight. Among the names being circulated in the Newcastle war room this evening are Norwich outcast Wes Hoolahan and West Brom midfielder James Morrison. Newcastle chief Alan Pardew is a big, big admirer of both players. But the man he wants is Duricic. probably shite but I'm seeking amusement

apparently Hoollahan to WBA

Aye. On the surface our transfer policy is sound imo, we've made some really, really good buys and, tbf, I don't think we've signed someone yet that could be considered a disaster? The worst arguably Cisse who pushed us into Europe. I genuinely believe that, whilst still operating the way we do now, we'd be challenging the Champions League consistently if we'd just go out and fill out the gaping holes in the squad with quality, both for the first team and in reserve. Spend a good £30m or so on the players (or less if we can) we need and then patch up with frugality in the future, in the same fashion we are now, only we'll be maintaining a full squad as opposed to patching up 3/4 of one. the amount spent on players isn't all that important to me personally so long as we actually address the needs of the squad which has never been the priority Not sure if you're agreeing or not there, but aye, that's pretty much what I'm saying. It doesn't matter how much money we spend, we just need to bring quality players in to fill the obvious gaps in the squad. We've played half of a season and Shola Ameobi has made 16 appearances. Starting 9. We're playing with a centre forward and a centre mid on our wings, and have Mike Williamson in the centre of defence, and he's been partnered with Steven Taylor for the last few games. That squad can be improved really, really easily, and it would surely be a good investment if it was done as quickly as possible. overall I'd agree my point is the amount isn't in the slightest bit relevant to me I wouldn't even care much if we were breaking even on transfers all so long as the squad was being improved.

I doubt he'd move to anyone at this stage when he can wait 6 months for a free transfer which is better for him personally
