I think it's pretty clear from the murmerings from all involved that we haven't heard the end of it. The statements from all of the buyers for a start, plus little tidbits of information coming from relatively well placed journalists. its sounding like desperation from Stavely specifically, theres nothing to indicate PIF are in any way interested in restarting this.

Because the very people the PL think are involved (such as MBS) don’t want to be involved and independent arbitration would need their involvement. As others have said - MBS couldn’t give two shits about NUFC and this is more hassle than is acceptable. Only resolution to this is if PIF can prove no involvement from MBS or the PL make some concessions. Talks remain ongoing though, internally with the consortium and MA to find a resolution before they plan on representing it to the PL. if your trying to find a resolution you do not reject a chance at independent arbitration to try and solve the impasse. They did its over

Also, how did Martin samuels write about this almost verbatim yesterday but Masters say's there is no briefing to the press? I literally read about independent arbitration being rebuffed and there it is in Dicky's letter ? iirc things go between the club and the premier league for the test so easy enough for someone involved in the club or ashley himself to give out that info.

thats a really fast way to kill the competition which would be a shame as I generally find it more fun than the FA cup these days

this bit if true is really odd to me, why not go for arbitration if your getting nowhere with the PL itself? Overall (without reading it fuck going onto the mails ad filled website) it sounds from this article that PIF want the PL to accept things exactly as they laid out no compromise? Which isn't exactly a brilliant way to deal with things

Tell me a team sport that doesn't have big clubs dominating it recently? ironically american sports seem better about it at least compared to how things currently are in the major european leagues and champions league I am not sure why this is ironic. American leagues are set up to artificially stop the big clubs from dominating and create false parity. It still does not work in some of their sports. I do not really understand the acrimony against Leipzig when compared to the other two clubs. They do not financially dominate. New clubs being created in regions without high level is a positive, imo. I suppose it is just Red Bull? maybe ironic was the wrong word but it is odd that america of all countries is less free market capitalist (in sports anyway) than anywhere else. And I'm sure their system has its faults (the lack of relegation seems a major one) but on the other hand 13 different world series winners in the last 20 years, 12 different superbowl winners compared to 6 different premier league winners in the same time period (and thats the best that the major european leagues have to offer). As for Leipzig I can understand why fans in Germany might not like them given how blatantly they ignore the 50+1 rule but beyond that

honestly was convinced Atletico would bore/kick their way to the final especially with no second legs

must be said whatever about red bull being so brazen in ignoring germanys 50+1 rule (which I personally find hilarious) they do seem to run their operations fairly well, not as if its like PSG or City with bottomless pits of money

haha what a jammy goal

Thought the government werent interfering lol How many was it that wrote letters to block it? they haven't interfered, writing a letter is expressing an opinion not interfering its not like boris has marched up to premier league hq and ordered them to immediately pass it or even just ordered them to explain it or else your shut down. Don't give fifa ideas like any politician expressing any opinion on the running of football in their country is government interference because god knows how corrupt it would become then

fuck no I'm sick to the back teeth of Bayern Real Madrid and Barca could they kindly fuck off and let us have some fucking variety in the champions league rather than the same old shit over and over again
-
how dare Celtic and Aberdeen break the rules so therefore we will punish almost everyone except them. What the fuck kind of logic is that (and I know tv £££ but still punish the guys who actually broke the rules, ban the players, points deductions kick them out for a season whatever just not this insanity)

oof thats a bloody awful penalty just fucking hit it
-
honestly he doesn't need the baby oil on his arms you ain't stopping him anyway

What's he done? https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53687308 I’m guessing that’s what neesy is referring to no ones coming out of that mess looking remotely good. Why the hell did Real stop his move to China, jesus whats he cost them just in wages in the last year and clearly Zidane wants nothing to do with him anymore Hang on, real are entitled to not decide the move when they were getting £0 in a transfer fee. yes they are entitled to but that decision has cost them €15m ish in wages (if google is to be believed on his salary) for very little benefit to the team and even less of a prospect of getting rid of him now.

thing that can't be ignored is the piracy stuff as its perceived as a threat to future tv income from the MENA region for all 20 clubs they can't just ignore it and wave it through as they'll have 19 other clubs, bein and hell probably a few other rights holders hammering at their door wondering what the f*** they're playing at on one hand taking various efforts to stop the piracy and getting nowhere and on the other just letting the crowd who have been letting the piracy happen just waltz in. Saudi Arabia has shown 0 signs of doing anything to think they're going to crack down on it and indeed seem to be doing the exact opposite by appealing the WTO judgement and banning bein They announced new piracy measures and the momentum appeared to be with us at that point, it was the banning of bein that arguably pushed it over the edge. Masters stated at the commons select committee they wanted to see a positive response from them re piracy. A big gesture by the Saudis at this point ie reinstating bein might break the deadlock on this, I don’t believe for one second the ownership structure is the deal breaker. we don't have anywhere near enough information to speculate whats wrong with the proposed ownership structure so its hard to make any comment on it. And while yes reinstanting bein would probably break the deadlock theres more of a chance of one of us buying the club than that happening not while the conflict between qatar and KSA is ongoing

Particularly the later half of it. explaining why they can't just ignore the 19 other clubs in this deal as this is rather unique in it has impacts on everyone. IIRC Bein actually got in contact with the other clubs about it which would explain why they would interfere less because oh the top 6 are just trying to stop a potential rival and more our income is under threat with this deal.

From that full statement it looked like he was sitting on the fence tbh and supporting both sides. probably can't say much more publicly in case of being accused of government interference in football which brings down fifa like a ton of bricks True but I would have thought if the takeover going through was so important to him he would have stepped in by now and told the PL they need to approve. with what leverage though? He could try and put a bit of pressure behind the scenes or whatever but he can't order them to do it
