  1. Unclear. The official release from Barça is that we can't register him due to La Liga rules (the wage cap). Some media are saying there are other motives (he doesn't think the squad can't win anything).
  2. I'm going to cry in a corner.
  3. Our press, man. Unreliable fuckers
  4. The new deal La Liga is about to sign will reportedly facilitate things greatly. We still have to move some players in order to fit Messi under the wage cap, though.
  5. Looks like Messi will finally sign today. It will be like a new signing, since technically it is a new signing
  6. The news broke out today, and I still haven't seen any local media able to explain what this deal entails. You can perfectly see in some articles that they don't understand shit I assume it's absolutely rotten and this fund (and the assorted middlemen) will make out like bandits at La Liga's expense.
  7. I know you lot are probably down right now, but I think that this has been a great Euro overall. Lots of tense games and great matches. Also Donnaruma is a monster, we've been there. You'll be up for it in 2022. Argentina and Brazil aren't looking too hot and I don't see most Euro nations improving massively except maybe France if they sort themselves out and us with more experience (but I think we overachieved this year, too).
  8. Our reports say it's just the old guard that's up for sale. Which is needed not only from a monetary standpoint. We need fresher legs and younger hearts. Laporta is set to update on the club's situation this Friday, ahead of the general assembly that will take part in June. We'll see.
  9. Our press claims we are very close to a deal with Wijnaldum. His agents were yesterday in Barcelona to hold talks with the club. I believe he would be the first former NUFC player to play for us?
  10. Glad Villarreal won. For years they have had this golden age but never been able to cap it with a trophy.
  11. Wilson stays healthy this season and he scores 15+ without you even sweating to stay up. Who was the last reliable 15+ goals striker you had on your books? Ba?
  12. If you told me back in October-November than we'd finish the season with a chance at a domestic double I'd have told you you were nuts. What a weird year. Still massively worried for the future, mind, given the barely concealed panic among the board regarding our finances
  13. De Jong was imperious today, really coming into his own in these past few games. If we're going to fold, at least do it with a couple trophies...
  14. He has been heavily linked with ManU in the past, been linked to Juve in recent weeks. He has all the tools if he gets his head down and gets serious about being a professional, which he seems to have started doing this season (although he's still had his share of injuries).
  15. Looks like Dembele doesn't want to resign so we'll be selling him in the summer (we can use the cash anyway). Was afraid this is how it would turn out after he finally seems to have turned a corner this season.
  16. Loved playing that one in the old Champ Man. In other news, looks like Laporta has managed to weasel us back in the good graces of UEFA by blaming it on Bartomeu, given Ceferin's last interview.
  17. The saddest thing of this whole affair, is that we've "saved football" for it to rest again in the loving, caring hands of UEFA and FIFA. We probably need the whole thing to burn down and be remade anew. Although the rebuilding would probably be something crass and repulsive too, these are the times we live in. Christ I feel old.
  18. Hopefully that's in the past. Even if Laporta is certainly no stranger to these big dumb reactionary signings, in order to get the funding guarantees required to take over the presidency he's been forced to give up some financial control to the lenders.
  19. Yeah, Piqué has already come out saying he's against it, so we're pretty much out. This was a deal agreed by Bartomeu, and it's obvious Laporta was just waiting to see if the thing worked out before going all in (yesterday the club said Laporta would give a press conference discussing our involvement "before the end of may" (). He has an easy out. We're still financially fucked mind. So we'd appreciate UEFA buying us out with cash, too.
  20. So, a very well connected dude I know has been told the ESL lot have a big media platform behind them (he thinks Amazon, doesn't know for sure) that wants to have high level sports globally and this is the way to secure them - since CL rights are sold piecemeal for each country.
  21. Our participation was agreed by Bartomeu - one of the very last acts of his presidency actually - I want to believe that Laporta is just quietly following along (nobody from the club has said anything besides the press release stating we were founders) until he sees what side of the bread is buttered. For now I will enjoy Florentino being the world's supervillain for a few days.
  22. He literally said "we're going to save football" Can't fail to notice that the ESL was announced just a few days after he was reelected.
  23. Heh, Florentino is going to give a - very rare - interview tonight on a Spanish show to defend the proposal. I'm tempted to watch. The hosts are a bunch of sycophants, though.
