Anyway, he's improved results over his predecessor, just not massively. Still early days.
He never got much of a crack of the whip, which is strange since he cost a fair bit and he apparently was a Simeone signing. I guess something didn't go well behind the scenes.
Our media are rather insular, to be honest. People playing outside Spain barely get a look unless they were already big names when they left (Torres, for example). Michu was hard to ignore in his first season, though, and the rest of Spanish players there helped drive a mini "Spanish Swansea" craze. Same happened with Liverpool under Benítez - they were the most popular English team in Spain by some distance.

It's just that you don't get shown much in Spain unless you're up against the glamour sides, yet we get to see both of your matches against fucking Stoke. Weird.
