  1. Why is it unhealthy for footballers to seek out jobs that pay them more? Do you judge your coworkers when they leave your workplace for another company that pays more? Footballers are somehow supposed to be saints who care about the fans more than they care about themselves. To these guys, it's just another job. It's a ridiculously high paying job, but it's just a job. They will work for the highest and most comfortable payer. Same as everyone else in the economy. And yet people will judge them for doing this. The hypocrisy is unbelievable. I'm sure trophies and all are great, but for the majority of footballers who aren't that good, they won't ever win a trophy anyway. They play to sustain a good lifestyle. They play to earn so that their kids and grandkids have a comfortable life. Or so they can make sure their parents have a comfortable life. It's unbelievable that people judge footballers that want to move to a club that would pay them more. As if they wouldn't do it in a second in their normal jobs. There are many considerations to a job. Pay is one. Comfort is another. Working conditions is another. For footballers, the latter two are pretty much the same everywhere, right? It's just the pay that's difference. Fair play to the players that look out for themselves because if they didn't, the owners sure as hell wouldn't. You think Ashley would pay a single pound more than he actually has to? Wholeheartedly agree with this. I know us as a fans have a different relationship with a club, but as a worker, I'll seek a higher-paying job without thinking it much. Why footballers can't do the same? And their careers are much, much shorter than a regular worker's.

I'll just let that one hang there for a second... 6 out of 18. That's 38 across an entire season.

Woah, what a reaction to my post What I mean is that he's showing that he can't be trusted to keep the club in the PL, and that's about the only thing Ashley cares.
  4. 50 before boni, I'll take that. Wondering about taking a 8 point hit to make room for Costa before he rises in price again.

You can always look at the bright side, surely there's no way he's getting the gig permanently with such lackluster results.
  6. Get the feeling we are getting a derby final in the Copa. It will be class.
  7. I've got just the thing for you if you want to go to sleep now I just got home, but you aren't on the telly. I'll just watch the highlights later.
  8. Entertaining game and decent result. Pity about that saved pen, it would have killed the tie. Vietto is a hell of a player, by the way.

    MLS

Villa has scored his first goal for New York City in a friendly against St Mirren. This made me think that he should have done a Lampard, Manchester City could've used him, imho.
  10. Canary Islands are technically in Africa.
  11. Any reason for the Las Palmas avatar, Baba?
  12. Those shot stats for Ronaldo, man, he's the Kobe Bryant of football
  13. Saw that Gil had a good game; I hope he has a good impact for you brummie, always liked the lad when he played for Elche.
  14. Had his arm been blown before he typed it? It's important.
  15. You don't seem to have the players capable of taking the sting out of a match. I was watching the game when you were already ahead and thinking, "this is too end-to-end, they need to sub some calming presence in midfield", but I couldn't see that in your bench. Anita going was a mistake on that regard, imho.
  16. No, that's not him, but he's very attack-minded. He's the only manager that has won possession against us since 2008. With Rayo Vallecano.
  17. No, probably too early in his career to go to a club our size. Hope he lands in a team with Top 6 ambitions, at least. His work at Rayo has been amazing. I'd love him. Everything about him is right. Mentality, aggressiveness, style of play...
  18. Rumors that Jémez is leaving Rayo at the end of the season :frantic:
  19. It is a bit s***. Modern football, money, etc... Anyway, I still have the memories of winning the CL with Unicef shirts and a mostly homegrown squad. That was some of the best stuff football can ever give me.
  20. I haven't bought a shirt since we took on Qatar. Anyway, contract runs for just one more season and most likely the next board won't extend it (although we will surely take on a commercial sponsor, sadly it's way too much money nowadays to wave it away).
  21. Watched a bit of Odegaard today, by the way. Technically good, completely overran physically. Needs to get up to the pace of Segunda B.
  22. We haven't won in Bilbao since 2011. Hope we break the streak tonight.
