No. He's never been a player that covered much pitch, that's why he looks so bad when he isn't scoring. Man, for some reason I've had this impression he was some highly motivated work horse who'd run into space for hours, and chase after a ball 5 yards away. Guess I fell foul to the Scouse Propaganda Machine Well, he used to do a lot of runs into space, what I mean is that he doesn't really track back or get involved in the buildup. He has very few touches of the ball across a game. It's just that several of those used to end up with the ball on the opponent's net.

Injuries, mainly. He can't train normally with that chronic groin injury and his game was greatly based around his athleticism. He is so static now it's just sad when you think how he danced through the midfield in his pomp.

Real Madrid may well win something this season (they are already in a cup final for starters) but I suspect it won't be thanks to him. He was a sad shadow of his former self the other day in La Coruña. Personally I can't see who'd want to take him without a wage cut, don't forget he's one of the highest paid footballers in the world.

If you don't allow this to affect yourselves too much, I think you have a good chance of winning the PL to be frank. Better run-in than ManU. But even if you beat us I think there are still too many big sides in the CL for you to win it. Reckon the likes of Real Madrid and ManU would do you on a two legged affair or the final.
