  1. Thought Lehmann was retiring? He said so in the run-up to our CL tie. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2914087/Lehmanns-terms-I-quit.html He also said that his family forced him to do so, so I can't see the New York move.
  2. Just did some research in Getafe forums. There's nothing about your supposed offer but they say he and his agent have been trying to get him sold to half of Europe by now. They reckon the guy has incredible natural ability but is pretty lazy and unmotivated.
  3. Neeskens is a huge legend for us. He actually left more of a mark as a player than Cruyff did (Cruyff's legend was made in his managerial stint) and was immensely popular during his time with us. His name was still sung in the stadium years after he left (one of my memories as kid). He was in the side that gave us our first official European title in 1979 (the Cup Winner's Cup), which is a watershed moment in the club's history. Again, the Cruyff/Neeskens/Michels era set up the foundation of what we are now. You can't really underestimate how legendary that time it is for us, even if it wasn't that successful trophy-wise. Okay, maybe not Milburn. But can't think of any foreigner that left such a huge mark on your lot (not that I know that much of your history). Robledo?
  4. To be honest doesn't look like a horrible signing list. No real big flops in there, all high-priced purchases have performed reasonably well at the very least. Of course, I don't know which wages they are in. Looks to me that what Villa needs is very good central midfielder to make stuff happen upfront, instead of just trusting your wingplay. Petrov and a central Milner don't strike me as very creative types, despite their other virtues. Delph is a nice little player, but he's featured little. Wonder if he should have been loaned out for this season at least?
  5. The real video is up on youtube, won't post it here since it has a shitload of copyrighted stuff. It's pretty cheesy on its own right, no Ameobi though!
  6. You skipped over Salifou, you cheat! What was the deal with that guy?
  7. I thought Cesc broke his fibia? Fibula, that's the small bone in the ankle.
  8. Everton fans will be interested to know that Arteta's name is starting to come up more and more for making the WC list, particularly after Cesc broke his ankle (he is expected to be back just in time for the WC, but any delay in his recovery would jeopardise it).
  9. Real Madrid has signed the son of Johan Neeskens out of Barcelona (the city, not the club) youth outfit Damm That'd be like the son of Milburn playing for Sunderland.
  10. If I'm in town when (if) this happens, I'll be in it certainly.
  11. Duncan Ferguson is probably the last person in a football pitch I'd try to piss off. Talk about a death wish!
  12. He's 19, what has changed? Half of Spain tried to sign him when he was 15 (including us and Madrid). Then he netted a brace after just a few games for their senior squad... he was blown a bit out of proportion. The hype around him has now quieted down, which is probably for the best. He's still young and could develop into a decent defensive mid, something Spain lacks quality in.
  13. Chelsea is their strong local rivalry, isn't it?
  14. Fulham and Atletico Spurs and Atlético should be brother clubs, almost.
  15. And yes, I'd say that Newcastle's brand is nowadays better overseas than in England. Most people around here don't know about your recent miseries off the pitch for example.
  16. I'm not that confident of him making it in the Premier League. I may be wrong though. He reminds me a lot of Luís "El Mago" Jímenez, Chilean winger/SS who floundered at Wham this season.
  17. Ooooohhhh! Make it happen! But if it happens it will probably be in August and I will be in Spain...
  18. He should have got off when he went down. Those heroics look cool but he probably only aggravated whatever he has.
  19. Funny how at the break my English friends were slagging Zlatan off for being shit and I was slagging Bendtner off for being shit and they ended being pivotal to their teams.
  20. He was on the bench as he's just been given the all-clear by our medical staff, but his match fitness will be very low still.
  21. Fitness levels. The whole Barca team were completely knackered after 65 mins. Were they f*** tbh. Walcott exploited Maxwell who is naturally very slow. Maxwell's been quite poor. Can't wait for Abidal to be back. He was excellent up to his injury. It has always been very obvious that we have problems dealing with pace, since we play with our defence so much upfield. Wonder why I don't see more teams exploiting this (like Atlético did in our defeat to them).
  22. He's been pants, but he's also cup tied with Donetsk. Gonna be Milito (who's been in fine form) and Márquez (who's a liability).
  23. So fucking pissed off we threw away the game. The tie could have been over. Fair play to Arsenal for fighting back.
