CHAMPIONS 3 - 0 Barnsley // Aston Villa 1 - 1 Brighton - 07/05/17 - WOOOOOOO
Wallsendmag replied to Dave's topic in Football
When Villa scored I'd say that was the loudest I've ever heard SJP in my 35 years of going there. It was a totally diffferent roar to the one that greets a goal. From the Gallowgate it seemed to start over in the Milburn Stand, then into our end and around the East stand into the Leazes. Probably sounded totally different to people in other stands though. The best way to describe it would be like thunder that starts of as a deap rumble and just gets louder and louder because the storm is actually right above you! Remember turning to the bairn and he was just stood there with his hands covering his ears and a slightly scared look on his face! -
Renewals expected to be sent out from Monday 22nd May.

Some of our own fans are obsessed about Newcastle fans being obsessed with sunderland as well. It's just the way it is.
-
The mentality of their fanbase is the one thing that holds them back more than anything else. The owner, directors, manager and players, whoever they may be at the time, know they only have to beat Newcastle and for the rest of the time their performance is largely irrelevant. It's certainly been more evident the past 5 years but that is the general attitude of that football club and it all stems from those who follow it. Newcastle are more important to them than what sunderland are.
-
Look North reckoned that sunderland had given away 20,000 tickets. Did I hear Dawn right ? Yeah they were just handing out free tickets to anyone who wanted them. Pretty much the same as a regular 1st team match really.
-
Sounds like the mackems embarrassed themselves on and off the pitch which is nice to hear.
-
A pretty average Championship striker at that. Get back what we can for him and get him off the wage bill.
-
Looks about 600 of them bothered to follow them. Pretty pathetic considering that, like us, they'll have lots of fans exiled in London. They'll be scraping the barrel if they start the back patting today.
-
Just checked. They finished 3rd the season after they went down on 19 points and they won the league the season after they were relegated with 15 points, despite them starting that season with Niall Quinn as their manager. It was a poor league then and it's a poor league now tbh.
-
They're more than likely to go up than down so im.a bit surprised at those odds. Let's be honest, we've just watched a season of it, and it's an awful league. Take us and Brighton away from it and there was nothing else there. Fulham look good on their day, but their day didn't come along all that often, Sheff Wed weren't bad either and Huddersfield blew themselves out towards the end as most predicted. I think they'll finish top 6. When they went down with 19 and 15 points did they not come straight back up as Champions the following season?
-
Don't know how any adult can get themselves worked up over a replica football strip. At the end of the day it'll have a black and white striped design and the name of the company prepared to pay us the most money plastered on the front of it.
-
I just paid upfront with my debit card for this season but heard nowt about my renewal for next season. Hopefully get something through the post next week.
-
Haven't had mine either.

Coined by Everton fans when they once finished above Rafa's Liverpool I believe.

I'm a season ticket holder and on a few occasions last season I tried to buy extra tickets as soon as they went in sale to members and could never get 2 together in the corner or even in block K which is in the middle tier and is the closest section to the corner. My ST is in block F which is in the lower tier of the corner and it's single seats only there as well.
-
Don't think you'd be able to get 2 together like. Pretty sure that when matches have gone on general sale this season there's only been the odd single seat spare in the corner. I'd just get seats as near as possible to there. It's a section that's going to continue to grow so plenty of other singers will be doing likewise.

The Bigg Market that night after the Forest match was unbelievable!
-
If the demand is there, which it will be, they can simply move the divide along to allow more home fans in though. They did that loads of times this season. We've averaged over 52k before by doing this. Hopefully they keep ticket prices sensible for next season.
-
Wasn't funny when they did the same joke word for word last season, and it's not funny now. Some f***ing melts man. If they want to take the p*ss then at least come up with something f***ing new, a plane and a phonecall, all of which Sunderland have already done. Tbf the plane and phonecalls were done by other clubs well before the mackems did it as well. Football fans across the country aren't What They used to be when it comes to humour and originality.
-
Top two were in the top division those seasons. Newcastle weren't.
-
They have taken their relegation and our subsequent Champioship win particularly badly it has to be said. Going back 12 months I don't think we took our relegation badly at all, especially when Rafa announced he was staying and this season started with plenty of optimism and a huge surge in season ticket sales. That in itself annoyed them massively as well. If you look at what they've got to look forward; David Moyes, losing their only 2 decent players, club in a moutain of debt, half empty stadium etc you can sort of understand the bitterness.

Some absolute weapon had got a couple of tattoos on his face.... 'FTM' under one eye, 'SGB' under the other. I guess he doesn't need a job. His haircut makes him unemployable before you even consider the tattoos.

Spent a lot of last night going through this thread. Still get dizzy when reading about him being confirmed in the job. Saw this on a page with an extract from a rag which sent a chill down my spine: "Newcastle had also sounded out former Manchester United boss David Moyes in the wake of Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Bournmouth, but the Scotsman is believed to have been much more reluctant to take over a side that have claimed just six league victories all season." f***!! Imagine if that happened? Ironically his current club have claimed just six league victories all season.

Wembley lost that "sacred" feel years ago when all the Semi Finals started getting played there. Going there for a league game and not a cup final, or semi final, or play off final etc doesn't bother me in the slightest tbh. It's still Wembley stadium, it's just been transformed completely since we were last there.
