Derby 1-0 home game. QPR 6-0 away he scored in. Aye, Derby he did. QPR he didn't start though did he, came off of the bench? Not sure what I'm even pointing out by it tbh. Just looking for someone to blame because Colback didn't play. I still find it ridiculous that Lascelles started instead of Mbemba today. Aye that was a bit of a strange one. Mbemba did ok v Leeds and Lascelles needs taken out of the team for everyone's sake, his included.

Put a padlock on this for the time being eh.

Doesn't change the fact he has the most talented group of players in the division. Im sure about 100% of championship managers could/would say the same. Failing to get promoted with this squad would be a massive failure and f*** up regardless of lack of investment in january/not getting wanted players in the summer. That beeing said, Im extremely confident that he will take us up, and few bad games where we have our key spine in the team out with injuries doesn't change that. I like that he is keeping true to his philosophy as I think it will make the team more prepared for better teams next season. Who are all these talented players? Not counting say, Gayle, shelvey and Richie. In addition to those you so kindly already listed, Clarke, Yedlin, Atsu and Hayden would walk into the starting XI of any team in this league. Possibly even Anita, Mitrovic, Gouffran and Perez. Nonsense. This.

Newcastle United vs Preston North End - 24/04/2017 @ 19:45 - Live on Sky

Any chance of Clark and/or Gayle being fit for this one? -
They do well until they get near the box and they then have zero to offer. I'd be very surprised if Boro managed to score tbh.

He's not good enough. Can't cross a ball and spends most of his time running down blind alleys.

Newcastle United promoted back to the Premier League

Hopefully they lose to Fulham on Saturday and we beat Preston making their game in hand irrelevant. -
Agree but would like to see them win just to cut the mackems well adrift at the bottom.
-
Huddersfield play Fulham next and Reading go to Forest who've already beaten us, Brighton and Huddersfield at at home.

Are we allowed to criticise him yet?

Think Lacelles can count himself lucky he's playing and Mbemba slightly unlucky he's been dropped. Other than that, it looks ok. -

Aye we're not scoring many and aren't keeping many clean sheets down the other end either. Really need to win tomorrow just to take some of the pressure off and pile some on Huddersfield who play after us and have a trickier game on paper but I've got a feeling we won't win. We rarely do things the easy way after all. -
Tbf the fact that we were managed by Steve McClaren was what relegated us last season. There was enough in that squad for a semi competent manger to have kept us up.

Course it's not a cliche ya daft tw*t

Worked hard but sadly for him strikers are judged ultimately on how many goals they score and he comes up short in that department. Expect Rafa to try to offload him in the summer.
-
Put himself about and did a few decent things last night but a striker with little goalscoring threat is not what we need.
-
He's got the attention span of a Titus Bramble. Not sure you can do anything about that and that's my main concern with him.
-
If he's 29 now, yes when he was 24.

We should have signed Shawcross about 5 years ago.

Would agree because he's useless but then again the alternative is Diame who hardly covered himself in glory when he came on last night and has also been sh*t this season. I've yet to see anyone in the team who can play in that number 10 position. There isn't anyone in our current squad who can play it effectively. That's why its baffling that Rafa hasn't at least tried to go with 2 strikers, especially at home, instead of persisting with Perez and Diame. One of the (many) positions that will need strengthening in the summer that's for sure. I don't think the 2 strikers would work be much better mind. Both Gayle and Mitrovic would want to be in the number 9 role, Gayle for me has to play on the last man otherwise you'd lose his goalscoring instinct imo. Think it shows how unbalanced the squad is. Possibly not but one of my favourite parts of this season was when Mitrovic came on for the last 20 minutes at home to Norwich and him and Gayle absolutely destroyed them. Norwich just didn't have a clue how to defend against the pair of them. It was a joy to watch. Obviously that wouldnt happen every week but I would love to have seen them get a little bit more time on the pitch together especially with Perez and Diame being so poor. -
