I wasn't old enough during that era but whenever people mention it with reference to now it's like it's a race to the bottom.

Colour me daft but I think the recruitment should be beholden to the vision and system the manager wants to play. Think there are a lot of mental gymnastics going on to circumvent the seemingly unchangeable situation regarding our owner. Of course Rafa isn't immune but there's nothing to say his tactics don't work in this league. Spurs is no Yardstick, Huddersfield could have gone either way and the cup is the cup. I also think social media caricatures many points of view. It's toxic.

Well said. I'd like to think it's a handful of onliners. Perhaps not.

He'd clearly been promised upgrades upon promotion and it's not happened. Hanley was adequate down there anyway.

The guy is a classic for thinking he knows best and surrounding himself with cheap yes men. He's also a gambler, but when it comes to Newcastle there's no value to him to finish high up the table and spend to get there, it's about spending the least and just surviving. That is where the profit is coupled with pumping free and global Sports Direct branding down our throats. You have to remember that Mike Ashley isn't a sports fans in the slightest. He doesn't think in terms of fans dreaming of winning things or being excited by signing top players and trying to play top football. He just wants to keep the free global advertising money train going in this league and make profit on selling on cheap players. To us under funding your team is essentially shitting on your fan base and hopes for survival or more, to Mike Ashley it's the thrill of knowing better than others and finding a crafty way to stay up on the cheap regardless of how shit the football gets or how much it tramples on the very essence of supporting a football club. A sane football fan will never understand Mike Ashley. A greedy, egotistical, selfish business parasite would be high fiving him on a job well done.

He's doing no bigger 'gamble' than he is now tbh.

If he carries on with his model of 'sensible finance' he won't have a PL club it's as simple as that. That doesn't make me wanting a blank cheque for Rafa. This isn't a relatively high margin business as far as I can tell.

Think the issue is we'll never know if someone wants it as Ashley has never been serious about selling. Pretending to invite offers whilst asking a price that is prohibitive is what he's done. Why would he want to sell when he's got it so easy here? I'm still struggling to see what we do. The man is immune to our pressure, he's proven that before. He pretty much ignores it. We're stuck in a pit we can never get out of. He isn't immune to pressure. That's a fallacy. It's the level of pressure needed to do anything seismic that's tricky. He's stubborn for sure. He wouldn't do these weird interviews if he wasn't fussed by any of it.

What a reference

Happy about it tbf. Nothing more than a drain of resources and waste of a squad number. I'm sure on his day when he's out of his iron lung he's half decent. Wasn't worth it though.

Probably his life insurance premium
-
The cleaning spray? Probably going to melt his withered undead bollocks down for solvents.

We haven't agreed bonuses with the players and staff yet? How many times has this happened under ashley ffs. Allegedly. I saw it pop up on social media this week.
-
I doubt this bonus negotiation fiasco is helping either.

It's a good job uncle Joe has ruled himself out since he announced he was negotiating Brexit.

The entire club seems to be a needless shitshow atm. Don't know where to start. Really need a reaction for West Ham
