A bit strange to say that Rafa will have no excuses if we get three players in before the end of the window. One of these players is Kenedy - who, good as he might be, is unlikely to turn our season. And it might have been helpful to have had these players in the door in the summer rather than with a third of the season left.

Premier League experience is such a weird one - do you have Premier League experience if you've shown that you are distinctly average in the Premier League? Seems a bit pointless to buy Deeney, for example, when at the age of 29 he's only scored 25 PL goals in 89 matches.

I think the fact that there are currently so many other teams in it still is a massive advantage over the previous relegation season. Arguably even Everton aren't safe yet (although highly unlikely to go down). Win against Swansea or Burnley and we are in a great position.

Not seen him play much at all, but I’d be interested to see how Gerard Moreno at Espanyol would get on. Seems a fairly consistent scorer in a bit great team and reckon he’d be about the same price or less than Deeney. But yeah... I haven’t scouted him.

Do reckon we could do better than Deeney for £15-20m, but you’d certainly be taking a gamble on a non-PL striker. Not that I think Deeney is any type of guarantee of goals.

Saivet perhaps. Merino had a stinker 2 days ago and isn't fit enough for two games in three days. True - and Merino could easily come off the bench in last 20-25 mins and make a difference.
