  1. I was referring to people overlooking Jonas' contributions to goals.
  2. I love the way that the only way a player can have an influence on a goal being scored is by having the last touch. Because that could never be at all misleading in assessing a player's worth...
  3. A scapegoat is definitely needed. I nominate Jonas.
  4. They don't tell you everything you need to know in any way, shape or form.
  5. If £10m went on strikers i would be more than happy, nevermind £30m Really? I'd be a bit disappointed tbh. It's imperative we upgrade the striking department if we're ever going to get back into a European challenge. There's no way the (majority of the) rest of the side aren't capable. I saw the football we played at times yesterday - it was sumptuous at various points, and not for the first time. We're three quality upgrades from being a seriously good outfit. CB, ST, ST, with the return of Hatem and there's every chance of a serious shot at sixth position next year. I just hope the mysterious second-season-syndrome doesn't settle in. I hope the guys in charge seriously do their research or it'll happen to us aswell. Instead of just a CB, I think we could honestly do with a Hughes-like player as cover for the back four. Not someone who'd have to be outstanding in every position but just a better option than playing others out of position. Worried to s*** over what would happen if Enrique is out for any period of time. A defensive utility player would be good - but I think we need a top quality centre back to play alongside Colo.

  7. I imagine you are right - most of those kind of things are. Just thought it might be something a bit different regardless of the price!
  8. Has anyone been on one of those NUFC experience days where you go to the ground, met some ex players, then have a training session etc etc? If so, was it any good? http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/Events/ExperienceDays Thinking of getting it for my brother's 21st and was hoping someone could give me an idea as to whether it was half decent?
  9. The prospect of a decent pay off if he failed probably helped..
  10. I reckon I almost qualify as an ITK. Was at a Liverpool talk in yesterday with Dalglish and Hansen - Dalglish said that the deal for Carroll was agreed on Sunday night. Apparently we then upped the price on Monday after we saw all the press on it and on Torres. So Liverpool upped their price for Torres from Chelsea.
  11. Mainly because one is simple and effective, and the other tries to be too clever and ends up on his arse. Jonas would be a much better player, and would be appreciated by alot more fans if he wasn't so damn frustrating. He just doesn't make the right decision half the time. But then half the time he does make the right choice. Thats 50 percent or 1 in 2 times and I like those odds. Once you've got past the stage of making the right choice however you've actually got to carry it through, which a completely new stumbling point altogether Well i can't recall a better left winger since Robert. Btw this might make all the we-hate-Jonas-club happy. http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/newcastle-boss-pardew-admits-he-needs-left-winger-signing-1390151 N'Zogbia? Even Duff scores goals. Duff? You for real??

    Sunderland...

Is there anything sadder than football fans revelling in football hooliganism? You so often (not on this board mind) see people eulogising about their fans' hard lads or the scraps they used to get into. Pathetic stuff.
  13. Lord give me strength. Where's the ignore function when you need it?
  14. I think I'll cope just fine without your help. Thanks for the offer though.
  15. What a wise idea... turn a blind eye to his strengths and just keep banging on about the same things ad nauseam. Great strategy... He never said that at all ffs. The post from toptoon however is gushing praise with little balance but lets not let any facts spoilt things eh? It's exactly what he said. Are you thick? Or in your mind are people only allowed to repeatedly go on about a players strengths rather than their all round game? 'Nobody' merely pointed out it would be a very onesided post which is was yet you cry about it? What is wrong with giving an honest view of Jonas instead of glossing over the truth to praise him like too many on here do? Edit: Its pathetic that Routledge often gets slaughtered yet Jonas is allowed to get away with anything on here. Wtf are you chuntering on about? You really can be a pretty objectionable poster at times. Of course it was a one-sided post, but it's a bit inane to then address it in a condescending fashion. It's clear to everyone that Jonas isn't a perfect winger by any stretch of the imagination - but he offers a hell of a lot to offer the team. As someone said earlier - this thread is genuinely on a loop.

  18. I don't see any marked difference in the amount of goals conceded under Pardew compared to Hughton. Hughton - 25 goals in 16 games. (1.56 goals conceded per game). Pardew - 13 goals in 9 games. (1.44 goals conceded per game). I'd love to know what you think Pardew has actually done to make the defence more porous (in your opinion). Do you think we have changed the way we defend? Has he told them to take more risks? Not bother with marking?

    Alan Pardew

Always found it strange that 'Where's the passion lads?' equated to the angriest you could get on FM.
  20. You clearly don't have loads of work on at uni... ;-)
  21. Yeah - undoubtedly Pardew's influence. He probably told Williamson to start defending like a muppet and Williamson decided to follow his instructions.

    Sunderland...

    Thousands? Can mackems count?
  23. Odd rumour floating around that we might be the subject of a takeover bid... probably rubbish.
