  1. Aye, but they can't stay in the Premier League. They can't have their cake and eat it.
  2. I'm fairly sure pretty much everyone in the country is going to be supporting Leeds tonight, including most Liverpool fans.
  3. He also said they're ready to support the Football authorities in whatever way they need.
  4. Devalued. Like everything.
  5. I personally only watch Newcastle matches. I have no interest in Bayern v PSG or Burnley v Southampton.
  6. There's probably an army of lawyers currently on a Zoom call with Richard Masters.
  7. UEFA have played their hand. All eyes on the Premier League and the FA now...
  8. I hope this isn't all they've got.
  9. The momentum seems to be slowly shifting against the Super League. The reaction and response of the PL and UEFA will determine what happens next I think. I hope they don't bottle it.
  10. Klopp resigning would be huge and great craic. I hope he does.
  11. Would be great if we could be owned by these guys without the Saudis being involved.
  12. I own my house but I can't just extend it willy nilly without permission from the council.
  13. Under English law restraint of trade can be justified if there's a legitimate public interest being protected.
  14. I hate to say it but we're all probably "legacy fans" to the potential new Saudi owners.
  15. An injunction in the courts. Or primary legislation. Or both.
  16. It will plummet in any case. The next lot of TV rights were just about to go out to tender. They will be worthless until this is sorted out. They will plummet even if the big 6 remain the EPL because it reduces the PL to a lesser competition, with the big 6 playing reserve teams. It will turn the PL into the League Cup.
  17. I am in law, although I'm not an expert, I expect the PL will be able to sue for an injunction or damages due to a breach but it would have to be done through the courts rather than through the PL's own procedures... Perhaps they'll need to do arbitration first.
  18. Aye, but there doesn't seem to be an automatic link between breaking a rule and expulsion as a sanction.
  19. Well, actual legislative intervention. Parliament could abolish the PL if necessary.
  20. If it does go ahead, it would be a powerful action if Leeds refused to play in protest.
  21. So as I understand it the PL cannot kick the clubs out as that requires a 75% majority, which the 6 can block. It will need governmental intervention.
  22. Just woke up. Still seething about this. The absolute gall.
  23. I really don't want the PL or UEFA to fold under the pressure because it will just embolden more of these bullying tactics in future.
  24. But the PL will be devalued in both scenarios. If the "Super League" goes ahead it will be the club's priority, significantly reducing the prestige of the PL and by consequence the value of the TV rights. If the PL kick them out, it will reduce the prestige of the PL and by consequence the value of the TV rights, but at least you maintain the sporting integrity. No brainer.
  25. Bidding for the next lot of PL TV rights was literally about to start. This is the moment of maximum leverage in terms of the English teams and PL. Those TV rights will be basically worthless until this is sorted out.
