  1. Feel our instinct is to cross for our 9 when the taller target is a little bit behind in this formation
  2. Liking what I’m seeing so far. Glad Eddie tried deviating from 4-3-3 to give it a go
  3. That's fair, especially the fact that they had something to play for and yet they were totally outplayed. It was quite satisfying watching behind the scenes from that game too in All or Nothing. I guess what makes it City for me was Arsenal being Howe's first real statement win v a cartel club. I guess I'm the type who needed a bit more validation that it wasn't just a one-off against one of those teams. If Arsenal was like "whoa, we can hit these levels now", City felt like "hey, that's no fluke, we can really give anyone a game now even Pep".
  4. These are on another level along with this Leeds game. 3-3 v Man City was probably the game that announced that we're no longer relegation fodder but a competitive, top 5 team. 6-1 v Spurs was just Eddie's football at its finest: intensity that can obliterate anyone on its day. 5-0 up in was it 20 minutes? That was just absurd. 4-1 v PSG is self-explanatory; had we not won a cup that is the default best game under Eddie. I'd throw in the 8-0 v Sheffield (piss poor opponent I know, but it was so satisfying to get eight different scorers) and a different 2-0 v Arsenal (the cup semifinal away leg - probably our finest away result of the Howe era given we won the cup at the end.)
  5. Really curious if it's 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 given the two W's up top. Excited all of a sudden
  6. It’s great to also remember them by their quotes “Trust me, one day you will get your club back & it will be everything you wanted it to be” “What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.” “We’re not here to be popular, we’re here to compete” conversely… ”How’s the bacon, did you say?”
  7. Howe is the GOAT for me simply for that trophy. Even if we win more trophies I'll just never forget what that first taste was like. I've just never broken into tears randomly for the rest of the week at work man. I'll do an oddball choice for my personal favorite and say it's Hughton. I'll never forget how imperfect yet lovable that team of his was, and the insane results they had. The 6-0 vs Villa after they relegated us, that 5-1 in the derby...but then he'd put in a totally different gameplan and win 1-0 away to Arsenal the next game. I think that was Newcastle at its most "plucky underdog" state, perhaps embodying the manager himself as someone we didn't initially plan to have for the Championship run but went with anyway. Him getting sacked almost feels like he achieved martyr status of that regime. KK and SBR - I'll just say I got into football too late to see them in their pomp. But I appreciate their role as culture bearers in shaping what this club stands for.
  8. An English CM/RB/CB teenager… Hope our starboy turns out better
  9. I’ll be very sad if that’s how it will end for him. Never a good sign when the players looked distressed as he had treatment. Tino looked like he remembered a past injury with that.
  10. Kinell I'll be 20 minutes late for work here cause of that GET INNN
  11. Wonder if this is the moment for the two W's up top at last
  12. I'll just say for all the (rightful) stick the midfield had been getting, it was satisfying to see all of them involved in that goal.
  13. Excellent again from Miley. Credit to Jo for channeling the frustration positively.
  14. Shocking game by Thiaw, hope it's just one of those days for him. I get that big Nick's looked lethargic compared to the fast pace of the game so far, though he has an assist going for him.

    Nick Pope

Just don’t ever put him in a situation where he’s on the ball and under pressure and he’s areet.
  16. Think that’s been the first game I’ve been delighted with in ages. Miley is top and I’d also say big Joe is looking like his old self.
  17. We held on and killed an away game off like we're supposed to - is this real life Jokes aside if I were playing against Newcastle I'd really target those drop-offs like from minute 45 to 70 this game. It's just a given it will happen every game and we have to sort that out.
