  1. On the whole I agree, he's gotten I to good positions and used his pace well at times, but seems to have the old Murphy brain buffering whenever he has to make a decision and fuck up the final pass
  2. There's no way Elanga is actually this bad is there? It has to be mental, he hasn't been able to kick a ball for about 70 minutes.
  3. It's an unwritten rule in football that when a player is clearly trying to be a clever cunt and hold up play, the referee is meant to take him seriously?
  4. I'm proper sick of commentators clearly unable to shake their bias, just saying things they know make no sense. Spence thought he was being proper clever.
  5. Elanga is completely different level of quick like His body strength helps, hope he sorts his form out.
  6. Ramsdale is wanting to out in a performance isn't he? Hope he doesn't do anything daft
  7. Cannot remember seeing us making so much movement between the midfield and attack like, it's very fluid
  8. What happened with Elanga, it looked like he was dragged down but we haven't seen a replay or even discussed it?
  9. I don't agree with daylight being the answer but I do think we all agree what the actual issues are I wouldn't be against scrapping the 500 different cameras at the ground they use during the game and just having the broadcasting cam along with like 2 other angles. No slo-mo or anything.
  10. What's the thought process behind that, @LFEE? That it'll eliminate high lines and lead to more room on the pitch? I feel like it would push us back to tikatika with teams just trying to dominate the middle of the pitch, but it's an interesting suggestion.
  11. I'm giving him marginally onside there Should have diving style judges rating each goal out of 10, with 9s across the board and above being immune to offsides or fouls in the buildup.
  12. Quick look suggests the law just stated "level" from 90 to 05 (then the foot/head stuff was added to the text) apparently so it might have been more open to interpretation back then. I cannot remember ever seeing a call when a player was like a full leg length past the defender and it not been an obvious offside though?
  13. FWIW, up until the early 90s, 3 players had to between the attacker and the goal. It then changed to 2, but even being level with the defender was considered offside. The current rules (having to be beyond the defender) came in around the start of the Premiership.
  14. Offsides have been part of the game for over 150 years and used to be far more favourable to the defender, it makes as much sense as anything else in the game.
  15. Like in that image, if the player's offside, it's completely his own fault
  16. You could say that about most laws of any sport though? Offsides as they are make perfect sense to anyone who plays and watches football.
  17. Aye a lot of it is mystique although I do appreciate that a lot of this will come originally from people who watched them a lot back then. Tricky players especially I'm always dubious of though due to how much defending has changed, you see it with the step up in leagues where the output of skillful wingers often drops dramatically. As a side point there's a really good JLA video about Beckham which suggested he'd be right up there in today's game physically, so a lot of the assumptions of improved fitness might not be as much as people expect from some players from the past.
  18. Any list that doesn't start with Messi then Ronaldo is obvious bait for 14 year old Angolans. The rest of the list is AI generated. Serious question though, why is Garrincha held so highly in all of these lists? I get Pele because his numbers for club and country tell you a lot without seeing him, but most footage of Garrincha is him body feigning and leaving the ball behind, which most defenders nowadays would just toe poke away
  19. They were aloud to wrap their arms around him and literally pin him in place tbf He showed his strength when he gently just launched Iwobi to the deck. He made him look like a child.
