  1. Joelinton has recieved nothing but grief for 2 years though. Bit harsh to pile on a journalist for making light of it, especially when the overall point of what he was saying was that he was good. There was clearly no malace intended.
  2. Think people are being a bit harsh on the interviewer like It was obviously meant as a compliment. Joelinton has widely been regarded as one of the worst players in the league so he was just expressing his suprise, like the rest of us, that he's actually fucking amazing.
  3. Could probably play anywhere across midfield or behind the striker depending on the system and opponent imo. I would just forget whatever happened under Bruce. If there's an area on the pitch where he's likely to be involved in 50/50s he'll probably shine.
  4. It's the freedom Howe has given him imo, if you look at his heatmap vs Tottenham (Bruce's last game) he was basically restricted to the far left of the pitch. Next game he started against Brentford he was everywhere. I haven't seen a great deal of him personally due to sheer apathy but if the rest of his time here he's been instructed to rigidly maintain a position where he's essentially waiting for one of our players to pick him out then it explains a lot. His best attribute the past couple of months has been his ability to essentially be a magnet to the ball, he's not man marking a specific player, or waiting about to recieve it from our players, he's mainly hovering about the centre left of the pitch but seems to have a license to pop up anywhere in midfield to battle for it. Would be over the moon for him if he makes it to Qatar.
  5. He did nowt wrong like, was a harsh yellow tbh although they get given, same with Joelinton's. Was Pawson expecting him to give Man Utd the ball easily when half our team were woefully out of position?
  6. It was pretty shicking to see tbh, had no idea he was capable of that Maybe it was just an alignment of the stars, fuck knows.
  7. Given his energy and ability to win the ball and maintain possession it's hard to see how he could be replaced without us buying a whole new midfield tbh. There's always room for a player who does what he's doing.
  8. Maybe it was a fitness issue? Looked better the last couple of games and today especially he looked nippy. Not sure looking at him but given what we know of Bruce's laziness he could have been carrying an extra stone.
  9. Was slightly taken aback by a footbaler actually speaking well in an interviewer instead of just rattling off set phrases.
  10. @Disco it's true though. The Diame effect is real.
  11. Ah I got that, Poot, was just agreeing in an obviously confusing way
  12. This performance was deffinitely his best, and by a long way, but he's been hinting at this ever since Howe took over. Deffinitely doesn't seem a fluke.
  13. He's legitimately one of the best ball winning midfielders in the league Like it's not even a joke, he wins absolutely everything. Cannot wait to see him with a bit of talent supporting him.
  14. Would have banked Gayle to have grabbed one this half tbf
  15. I only watched like 4 or something, was he really THAT bad?
  16. Bamboozling that anyone can watch us the past couple of month and claim Joelinton is a shite footballer like
  17. Remember Oliver was touted as the same back then. Paid next to fuck all attention the past couple years so not sure where he's at now like
  18. Clattenburg was regarded as the best in the league before he fucked off the SA.
  19. Exactly this. £25m for Trippier is absolutely nothing for what we're getting. He ticks every box that we need to stay up. It would be insane to miss out trying to low ball them.
  20. Completely depends on who else is there like. I would 100% start Joelinton in this side as we're soft as shite in the middle (in reality they would both start)
  21. He's fucking tiny as well. EDIT: Not that I wouldn't take Lamptey like Just not over Trippier
  22. £15m is an absolute steal. £25m is still a no brainer. Saod it before but Trippier looks in really good shape, his age isn't a massive issue imo.
  23. Not sure how accurate it is like but according to WhoScored they've played him across the whole midfield like. Has 3 goals and an assists in 5 games when played behind the striker?
