Where do we stand on the FA Cup winners being given a Champions League spot, then?
-
What's the crack with Alli like? Last I remember of him he was class but seems to have pulled a Stephen Ireland?
-
It's so weird like. What team was it when the created a mock up dual badge?
-
So what would we reasonably have to spend do people think? If we're to think of like 7-8 realistic transfers/loans we probably need? Trippier is listed at £15m Rodon loan Etc
-
Aye there are probably a lot of issue I haven't thought of tbf
-
You're probably right like. Even so I've always liked Dummett. Even before Benitez I thought he got a tough ride despite never really putting a foot wrong, THAT BANNER was cringey as fuck too. We obviously need a new left back but until we have adequate cover too I wouldn't be getting shot of him.
-
A British/Irish cup would actually be canny like. The League Cup has always felt a bit pointless.
-
Even so if he's injured (which he is known for) we're left with Darlow. Dubs isn't really a great all-round keeper though, is he? He's a great shot stopper on his day but we could definitely do a lot better.
-
If we could only sign 5 players I'd probably go: CAM CDM RW RB LB As calamitous as our defence is we have nobody on the pitch who can either score or create anything other than Wilson and ASM.
-
Well aye because the rest of our squad is absolutely awful. We really are desperate for a new keeper though.
-
We need a new CB and keeper really like but money also needs to be spent elsewhere so someone like Rodon would be a good shout imo.
-
Even with something like that our back-up is very poor. We cannot bring in shit either, we need proven quality players in all of those positions.

I haven't looked at it properly but I think it's somewhere around 35 points will usually see you stay up. So like 7 wins and 4 draws from 20 games. Realistically we want to be aiming for like 38-42 (somewhere around the mark where you're pretty much guaranteed survival). If we pick nothing up from Man Utd or Everton, which is entirely possible, that means we're going into January looking to build a squad capable of picking up at least 25 points from 18 games. Whichever way you look at it that's the kind of form that sees you comfortably mid-table and potentially challenging for a Europa place over the course of a season. We have 3 games in Jan too so we need to be quick with our signings.

Man Utd could probably behead one of our players in the box and it'll be waved away. -
Basically we shouldn't be looking at Watford or Burnley and thinking "are we better than them?" We need to be looking at the predicted points tally for relegation and thinking "what do we need to do to guarantee we hit that as an absolute minimum."
-
Eh, we can use statistics from previous seasions to indicate the odds of the points we will need. It's fruitless to obsess over the results of teams around you in december because the teams around us can also strenghen and kick on. I mean it's nice not to be bottom of the table but ultimately it doesn't change the fact that we will be required to reach a certain point threshold by the end of the season (of which we can get an indicator of looking at statistics). If we don't strenghen massively I cannot see how we stay up outside of pure luck tbh.
-
That isn't how it works though. For all we know Nowrich, Watford and Burnley might finish mid table. Obsessing over other team results at this stage is fruitless tbh. Statistically we know how much points we need and there's no chance we'll get them without massively strengthening the side.
-
We essentially need to turn ourselves into a 'consistent mid table side pushing for a European place' within a month.
-
It's a gamble either way but if we don't spend big we're down like. Obviously a couple of loans could help A month or two ago I thought we could have afforded to only purchase what what right for the club going forwards also keeping in mind FFP but we really need to get some proven quality in. Like we need a midfielder or winger capable of bagging 10+ goals a season. 2 top fullbacks and an absolute beast of a CDM as a minimum I'd say. Probably a CB and a keeper to make sure of it. Edit: Oh and another striker wouldn't hurt.

It's mad how reading 1 article turns and average Dan into an exciting renaissance man. For me atleast.

https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/dan-ashworth-brighton-england-world-cup-2018/ In fairness the England setup is the best it's ever been so him playing a part in that is promising.

Yeah good read and it explains a lot. How anyone came up with that idea is beyond me like. It makes no sense. Allow the referee to control the flow of the game from on pitch but VAR should interfere with major decitions (red cards/penalties) when he gets them wrong - if the VAR team collectively agree he did so. It's really not hard. Either that or just get shot of VAR for anything other than offsides and off the ball stuff the ref cannot see.
-
They'll not admit fault so will likely just reiitirate "clear and obvious error" and 'clarify' that off the ball incidents are under the discretion of the officials or something.
-
There a copy paste of that?
