His “pressing” is totally ineffective as he gets nowhere near his man and is afraid to put his foot in in case he hurts himself. Embarrassing! I can't agree with that like. I'm a big critic of him and get so frustrated with him, but he's the best option we have in that position in terms of putting himself about and being in the right position to intercept, what he does once he has the ball is just too often the problem. Perez and “putting himself about” is a contradiction in terms. Just look at the effort he puts into closing down compared to Ritchie or Gayle. I really don't follow. I see no difference at all, he's constantly helping out. We must be watching different players tbh. Yeah that's a weird point like. Perez has changed his game massively, he's pretty much unrecognisable from the player that was booed in the relegation season from not chasing a ball down that was running out of play.

Unless he improves massively I'd rather we played Mitrovic like I massively disagree with his hold-up play being better and unless he suddenly starts pelting them in there's virtually no difference in-front of goal. Mitrovic is a bigger threat from set pieces and balls coming in though. Not even sure his movement is any better, I thought it was after the first game or 2 I saw him but I think I was over-reacting a bit. I have no idea what the craic is with Gayle otherwise he'd be straight in the side.

When I said he had bad end product a lot of it probably has to do with him trying to get the ball in from awkward angles or after running down a corridor tbh. He has the odd highlight in him but it seems like over the course of a few games he does very little. Hopefully he finds some proper form as we could really do with a rapid, direct forward.

Think he's far better off the line this season than he was when we went down. We need to upgrade him but he hasn't done a great deal wrong this season other than some shite kicking.

In his defence like he pulled onto his left a few times but there wasn't any great options in the box. I thought that ball across the 6 yard box with his right wasn't really recognised either. Someone should have made a run to the near post.

This is me most weeks tbh, i don't like him as much as most seem to quite obviously. From an attacking sense he's been near useless the past couple of weeks like. I don't think he was bad today, he defended well, but I agree with others Yedlin was our best player. Shelvey put in a better performance too for me. EDIT: 'Near useless' is harsh like

Not convinced by Atsu at all tbh, he started fairly bright but his end product is awful and too many times he'll beat his man and then find the quickest and best route to run down in order to lose possession as effectively as he can.

If it was a penalty then Lascelles' earlier would have to have been too. It'd have been massively harsh. I thought Pawson had a good game tbh.

Shame that to watch more of Shelvey and Merino we have to wait through another fucking international break I get that it's probably the best they could do but it's still fucking annoying.

Obviously some of it will be down to Liverpool's quality and he might have been caught out a bit by the pace, there was definitely times where he fucked up a simple pass, or where in another game he would have rolled away from the challenge with that sexy turn of his. We know he's better than today like.

I disagree like, I thought Shelvey did really well in the deeper role and Liverpool benefited from Merino's sloppiness. In fact most of the time they got through I though it was down to us being a bit sloppy. I think with Merino being a bit sharper we'll look better with them both in there.

It cannot be emphasised enough how many points we'll lose by not having a 15-20 goal striker like. It's a fucking crime we left that window with fucking Joselu. 15-20 goal strikers are few and far between like. We could do with a couple capable of double figures at this level for a start. They aren't mind. Llorente, Defoe, King & Benteke all hit at least 15 last year for shite clurbs. Fair enough, but two of those are old and Benteke cost Palace £27m. Oh aye, I'm not saying them specifically like, just that if we wanted to sign a striker capable of scorer 15-20 we could have done it 'fairly easily' imo. We have some fairly average players in the side but it's the position that we'd benefit most from for me. Probably even more so than a proper AM because of the way we're playing.
