I think some of them still haven't caught up with the tougher guidelines for referees concerning dangerous tackles and think it's still 1995. Going into a tackle with your studs up and shin high is asking for a red even if there is minimal contact. I had this argument on Saturday with mojo and he ended up telling me to fuck off. How do you even go in to that challenge without your studs showing man? He's in a standing position Yes but his foot was raised and his studs made contact, there's a photo of it man. Isaid it on Saturday, that even if you just graze someone with your studs you can do some damage. Yes Coquelin made a meal of it but when there's contact the ref has no choice but to assume it's genuine. The initial contact was with the lower part of the shin pad, but then he did slide down to the unprotected part nearer the foot. I know he made contact, I'm not debating that. It's just completely impractical for him to win the ball in any other way from the position he was in; the ball was nicked away and he landed on Coquelin instead. You're bringing 'studs up' into it but that has always referred to dangerous leg breaking challenges where you throw your whole weight behind your heel going in. A stamp is a stamp and a rake is a rake, they're red cards (when intentional) because it's serious foul play regardless of studs. A kick to the shin is also a red etc. A tackle is never a red card unless your going in like an idiot, studs flat facing the ball with force behind it, hence it's a 'studs up' challenge. I've said before but I can see why people think this is a red like, it can be viewed as either wreckless or intentional. I disagree with both though. -

The studs showing challenge is referring to sliding tackles where you smash into the ball with your heel (it's a red even if you win the ball), it doesn't mean the soles of your feet should permanently be facing soil. -

Even Waddle the daft cunt thought it was a yellow until he saw it in super slo-mo from a reverse angle and then said "I can see why he's given it from here." -

It only looks a red because of the modern trend of pointlessly viewing everything back in slow motion and from 40 different angles. In real time no-one even reacted to it. -
Actually think the OP's being pretty fair, it's just a fucking useless exercise.

He's never experienced a crowd booing before? -
Strange that like as I was actually making an over the top post to prove a meaningless point. Anyway Tron, West Ham might, the point is they've started positively against the better sides where as we've set ourselves up purely not to get beat and our fans have lapped it up, "Tiote for Perez was a great change!" etc. People using Pardew's 6-0s as justification for why we have to sit back against big bad Man Utd otherwise we obviously get picked off on the counter and obliterated. I completely disagree with it and regardless of whether or not he changes in the coming months I'll still look back at these games and think it was the wrong decision. Anyway that's the last I'll say on it, I'm not even being that harsh overall, I actually look forward to the weekend now and I expect us to improve.

Last season is relevant imo. We're trying to scrub out 3-4 years of mis-management, low confidence & poor tactics. West Ham's situation is different to our own. Our confidence and the players' trust in one another has most likely had to be very carefully managed for the opening fixtures. FFS man. People are acting as if Steve McClaren has time travelled into 1945 Birkenau and is now trying to nurture a bunch of malnourished and traumatised victims of war back to health and onto a football field.

Like West Ham did at The Emirates and Anfield? As for Pardew, we weren't battered consistently because he tried to go on the offensive after keeping it tight, we were battered because we had absolutely no direction, we were clueless on every part of the pitch. Did West Ham go on the attack at the Emirates and Anfield? I thought the idea was to park the bus against Liverpool. Well I mean they won 3-0 and had 12 shots on goal (1 less than Liverpool) so I kind of doubt it.

Last season is irrelevant. They have a new manager, so do we.

Aye, that definitely would have happened like. EDIT: Anyway I'm not going to write him off but I massively disagree with this justification for him not going for it in games, and even (against Man Utd) just surrendering possession and sitting deep. It's hard to judge him on the Arsenal game even though they were all over us before the card, the squad selection was closer to what most people would want and we may have grew into the game, who knows. Obertan out was an obvious positive and his subs were fine if a little late. I've got no idea what the Swansea game even was, and we were OK against Southampton. 2 points though, 2 goals, no wins. In hindsight the decision to refrain from going on the offensive hasn't really worked and the major positive is that we're not getting tanked 4-0 every week. I think he'll get better and I actually look forward to our games now, but I also think we've pretty much just wasted 4 by treating the opposition with too much respect.

Odd question that like.

I'd stab her like. hur hur

WUM confirmed.

I fail to see why you cannot be disappointed with how reserved we've been just because we were shipping goals for fun last season like We were awful last season, the worst I've ever seen us.

I thought he looked far from slow and lumbered against Man Utd.
