  1. The manager Somen Tchoyi has scored the most hatricks against.
  2. Getting to be a pet hate of mine, this. Everyone agrees that Ashley is the overarching problem, but that doesn't alter the fact that it's infinitely easier to bring about a managerial change than depose a billionaire owner. Pardew is rubbish and doesn't get a free ride just because his boss is a cunt. while true its simply papering over the cracks, whenever Pardew goes the next guy will be much the same and end up in much the same situation so long as the manager has no say in the slightest over who comes in and goes out and the criminal under-investment. Aye fair point that's never been made before, let's keep the bloke who has a fetish for being thrashed 3-4 nil.
  3. That's about the 50th time NJMs said that now tbh, bloke thinks he's some kind of profit.
  4. Nah, what's madness is to laugh off the choice like you just have. This is Martinez' first big job, he's done absolutely nothing wrong so far but it's still only 1 season. Although I think he looks a better manager than Moyes he's hardly proven it yet. He's done nothing so far? I agree that you can't laugh off choices, but are you seriously trying to tell yourself he's done nothing so far? In his first season he's close to doing what Moyes did as his best during his tenure at Everton. Jesus fucking Christ.

  6. Yeah this is where I'm at. Thank you for writing my feelings down for me, much appreciated.
  7. I would take Martinez over Moyes any day of the week but I'm honestly not sure how any manager would get on here, I would just go with the most positive choice.
  8. There's dozens of managers I'd have ahead of Moyes.
  9. "Same shit as Pardew" is just untrue though. He's never struggled massively with his wing play for a start. They've never struggled for goals as far as I can remember either. EDIT: I could do Carr's fucking job, man.
  10. Whoah there, non-fashionable opinion alert. Get over yourself, Ian
  11. Absolutely incredible. Judging Moyes on one season makes you no better than the arseholes who bring up Pardew finishing 5th. Not many people are judging Moyes on one season, he was at Everton a long time. They played pretty dogged football for most of that time, although to be fair, they looked good last season. His failure at Man U though has shown his limitations. Football has moved on, and so have Everton. That's what we need to do as well. We played pretty dogged football at the start of his tenure because of the incredible amount of shite we had on our books. He took a team which regularly included Big Dunc, Marcus Bent, Carsley, Kilbane, Pistone, Weir and Stubbs (to name just a few) to 4th. Did we play pretty football? Occasionally, not regularly. And it was exactly the right thing to do given we didn't have a pot to piss in and were stuck with generally poor players. He then recognised that if we were to progress - or even maintain our standards in the face of several teams with infinitely superior spending power - we need to buy better footballers but smartly, with Pienaar and Arteta being the 2 prime examples. This pattern continued as the years went by, albeit we were again limited due to a distinct lack of funds. It's not just last season we started playing better, we've been improving aesthetically for the past 6 or 7 years. His problem, as was the case throughout his time here, was his mentality. His actual acquisitions improved in terms of footballing quality and we more regularly played better football, but in the crunch moments he was let down by a lack of bottle and having to settle for 1 point when we should have got 3. This is what Martinez has changed. I think Moyes would be a good appointment for you, if that does transpire. He's obviously a million times better than Pardew and I'm pretty confident he'd get you challenging for the European positions. While I wouldn't expect people to be lining the streets in celebration upon his hypothetical appointment, the question you have to ask yourself is who better would you realistically get in this summer? Your assertion that football has moved on is a bit OTT but I can see what you're getting at; but that's all well and good in an idealist world. I think Moyes would represent a very good move, if he were interested. I honestly cannot remember ever hearing Everton being described as a defensive or boring team during his tenture, only since Martinez took over and Moyes' is failing at Man Utd.
  12. They were 8th the year before and basically a laughing stock. It's only taken a few new players for Rodgerz to get them to the title after that. Moyez took over the champions and has died. Yeah, but you're comparing the squads, where they finished before hand under a different manager should have little to do with it. Rodgers took over a Liverpool side being mismanaged by an out of touch Kenny Dalglish where as Moyes has taken over a side managed by the Premierships greatest manager. The quality of this Man Utd squad really doesn't reflect a side who pissed the Premiership.
  13. I don't think Moyes is anywhere near Rogers level like, or that he isn't out of his depth at Man Utd, but he was never going to do anything in his first season with that squad.
  14. Liverpool finished 7th in Rodgers first season though.
  15. Under Ashley we're not going to get someone like that. We'll get a "safe choice", and Moyes is the best of those. What makes Moyes a realistic target any more than the risky choice? His salary is likely to rule him out before it even gets on the table, and thank fuck for that. He's probably getting sacked from Man Utd man, he'll be in no position to demand huge salaries from anyone
  16. He was always going to be disastrous at Man Utd this season with that squad. All the pressure of a title winning side with a team who personnel wise are no where near that level.
  17. I'm glad someone else has said it. Look at what he's done to Man U ffs. my god.
  18. He's not an exciting choice by any means like, I'd far prefer us to go for someone unproven if they've seemingly got a decent footballing philosophy (god I hate saying that phrase ). He would be a huge upgrade on Pardew though.
