I think the issue is a lot of people confuse being aware of something and thinking "I wish that wasn't the case" with being uncomfortable. If you aren't actually uncomfortable with something you can quite easily pick and choose where to draw the lines, which we see here, or with chinese slave labour etc. Things are a lot more black and white when you're genuinely disturbed by something. I'm not saying this to be a dick as I think people mean well, but the very vast majority of people claiming to be morally contorted by all of this aren't, they're just aware that they 'should' be in some alternate reality where we're not completely ambivalent to things we really shouldn't be.

I've read that Edwards fantasy piece three times now, it's absolutely brilliant I'm in danger of starting to like him.
-
I cannot let myself believe we'd be getting Chiesa tbh.
-
I don't really get what they're doing? People were raving about Partey last season and Xhaka was seen as having his best season and they're getting rid of them both?
-
I think a lot of it was self doubt like, but even then he wasn't actually bad last season by any stretch during his cameos. He seems pretty shy and probably overly polite, like any place of work some people (like Bruno and Isak*) can just waltz in with a load of edge and immedietly fit, but others take a while to get over the awkwardness and reign themselves right in. (*more confidence and just an aura of not giving a fuck with Isak)

I'm talking about how much Rice is worth though, and if you could get a more transformative midfielder for a more reasonable price. I think Rice is great and (as has been mentioned) him being pigeonholed as a defensive CDM as he was a year or so ago never made any sense.
-
If he starts scoring or creating he'd be worth it like, but atm he's a box to box player who is really limited in the final 3rd. And although he's a good passer across the pitch, he's not very creative from deep either. He's a Kante type midfielder really, exceptional at winning possession and driving up the pitch, or knocking it someone in a better position. The reason Tonali excites me (and I would never dream of saying he's better than Rice at this stage ) is that to go along with all of that, he looks to be able to ping the ball over the top well from deep as well as cause damage around the box. For over £100m you can surely find a player who is defensively sound, great ball carrier, but far better technically.
-
Prime Kante may be worth that in todays market, but Rice is nowhere near 105m like, it's insane I know we constantly see shock at the increasing insanity of transfer fees, but that is on another level like.

The last example sounds more like a really well executed rape. -

"NUFC not wanting to be messed around" Bit weird posting that after we're being told Tottenham are getting him for a cut price like. Seems we either moved on months ago, or Maddison told us he prefered Tottenham. -

Bargain for £40m like. Hope he flops. -
Being ripped off on the re-sale is the price you pay for trying to get a player on the cheap and bending over to insane contract clauses.

Keeping his options open? I think he's already tied in like, given the two kids and living together situation. -
Aye 3m is cheap for a well rated 21 year old.

Cardinal sin. -
I think you're getting this the wrong way around. He mainly played on the left side last season: And right the title winning season:
-
That's the point though, we have the hardest start in the league and we would be playing it without our £60m midfielder (and I assume whoever else we sign). Our main problem since Howe picked up form 2 seasons ago has been picking up points against the top sides as we're just short of quality.
-
Our points return against Man City and Liverpool was horrific, we need quality in the side so I hope he and any other top class players we buy are thrown straight in.
-
Looking at his heatmap he was RCM last year and LCM this year. Apparently was better last year. Not sure if they were in a 3, a 2, or a mix of both though.
-
An extra 8,000 would put us basically on Par with Tottenham, West Ham & Arsenal. It's only Old Trafford above that.
-
You would think Liverpool fans, if any, would see the value of technically gifted, quick, physical midfielders like.

If Robert isn't a Newcastle legend we must not have many.
