  1. Would be amazing if Sammy scores against them, Shola can fuck off.
  2. I just don't know what we could realistically do (with Mike Ashley as owner) to break the domination of those clubs ToonPack mentioned. I mean, we are competing with the top 6 now, what I don't know is how it's possible to compete with the top 3 or 4 without spending way beyond our means on a regular basis. Spending way beyond our means!!!! Fucking hell man - we haven't spent a penny in two full transfer windows man. We aren't asking for huge amounts to be spent. Christ almighty. Earth to Andy... I know that very well, what I'm saying is - it is understandable that we spend little when the requirements to move beyond our current position are so large. ahh fuck it, I'm out.
  3. Just proves my point, really. Obviously, if you want to challenge for the quadruple, you'll need to spend closer to half a billion. But 4th place - for example - is within our grasp by maintaining our transfer policy, save for a radical adjustment in mentality towards the game.
  4. Aye. On the surface our transfer policy is sound imo, we've made some really, really good buys and, tbf, I don't think we've signed someone yet that could be considered a disaster? The worst arguably Cisse who pushed us into Europe. I genuinely believe that, whilst still operating the way we do now, we'd be challenging the Champions League consistently if we'd just go out and fill out the gaping holes in the squad with quality, both for the first team and in reserve. Spend a good £30m or so on the players (or less if we can) we need and then patch up with frugality in the future, in the same fashion we are now, only we'll be maintaining a full squad as opposed to patching up 3/4 of one. I agree. I don't know if it makes me an apologist (I hope it doesn't), but I think a lot of what 'the board' do is commendable and sensible, especially in this era where money is fucking everything. It's a moot point but, for example, I would rather achieve City's success via policies like ours than a route like theirs. I had a FIFA career once where a glitch gave my team £12billion to spend, and I won fucking everything. That's no different to irl City iyam. The problem with our transfer policy is that it's too rigid and is motivated by the wrong reasons. Ashley's egotistical at the end of the day; he doesn't care about the club - that's where it's flawed and why we'll never achieve anything with him. If the transfer policy actually married with a genuine desire to succeed, we'd probably be onto a good thing. We'd probably have a better DoF and manager to oversee the whole thing, for a start. Aye I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head for me too.

It doesn't matter how much money we spend, we just need to bring quality players in to fill the obvious gaps in the squad. We've played half of a season and Shola Ameobi has made 16 appearances. Starting 9. We're playing with a centre forward and a centre mid on our wings, and have Mike Williamson in the centre of defence, and he's been partnered with Steven Taylor for the last few games. That squad can be improved really, really easily, and it would surely be a good investment if it was done as quickly as possible.

  7. Cisse can offer far more than Shola like. Given his age and lack of form it's a good price though if we do sell.
  8. Based on money basically. Based on the money we are spending we are doing fantastically well, I'd agree. The problem is we have spent -38 million on transfers since Ashley came in. MINUS 38 million! To be in the top end of the table is no less than a miracle considering how we're being bled dry. Which leads to the simple conclusion our scouting is doing extremely well. Such a shame we have a billionaire owner who is unwilling to spend some money, not even money generated by the club itself. Imagine where we could be with a little bit of ambition, a little bit of trust in the scouting team and a little bit of investment in the squad and in a decent manager. We could be challenging up there, no doubt. We just choose not too. Indefensible from a fan's perspective, yet here you are, posting like a lunatic all day long on deadline telling people off who are understandably venting their frustration. I agree it would be nice if he would spend some of his own money, but unless the accounts show year-on-year profits I can't see how he isn't spending the money we generate. I agree a football club should reinvest all its profits, but we haven't really made any. Even if he spent £60 Million we'd likely be around where we are now in the league, given: Chelsea & Man City have near unlimited funds Spurs had the Bale money. Liverpool have a billionaire owner willing to spend plus cheapest season ticket £710 Arsenal, cheapest ticket for most games £60 Man Utd 75,000 average plus large global glory seeking fan base. Yet, and I hate to bring this up again, we're STILL only 9 points off a Champions League place. Everton, who are comparative paupers, are 4 points off.
  9. Lets set some cunt on fire.
  10. Genuinely shocked to be reading stuff like that to be honest, we challenged for the Champions League a season after coming up and could have continued to do so if we invested in improving the squad. We didn't and were nearly relegated. Now we've bought a few more players last Jan and were on course to challenge again, we've got rid of our best player and failed to sign anyone this season. Again pointlessly stagnating. EDIT: Not a reply to Brett's post, just an extension of mine.
  11. Genuinely thick as f***. Unnecessary. Well start making sense then. What has the length of time we've been in the league got to do with where we can be finishing? If we kept Cabaye and signed another striker and a left winger earlier on in the window I see no reason why we couldn't challenge for a Champions League place? We're 9 points off 4th now and were 6 points off at the start of January. Because it takes time to build a quality squad, unless you're spending tons of money which we never will. And on your way up you'll have players poached, which sets back the process once again. People are frustrated because they feel we're not that far away. I don't rate our players as highly as some do and basically think we are where we should be give or take a couple of places. I'm not thrilled about where we are obviously, but I'm not going to be spending all my time following Newcastle in a never ending rage either. This is meant to be enjoyable! But, and credit to Ashley for this, we had the backbone of a very good starting XI sorted and had done for a while. Selling Cabaye has knocked us back a bit in that regard but with £20m in the bank we can definitely find a central midfielder, though it'll be difficult to bring in a true replacement. The problem is there has been numerous opportunities to really strengthen this side and we haven't taken them because we're too worried about paying over the odds. We'll happily go months, even years, without strengthening a weak position if it'll save us a few million. This has meant we've never truly had a great squad, we've had a very good selection of players spanning our current stint back in the league but we've always been left woefully short in a position or 2. Considering our net spend there's no excuse for this. As for players being poached, they wouldn't be getting poached if we didn't keep stagnating. And we stagnate because of the reasons I've said.

  13. Cabaye, Debuchy, Remy, Ben Arfa, Mbiwa and Sissoko. French internationals. Santon, Italian international. Some real gems unearthed there mind.
  14. I'd be utterly amazed if no other clubs picked up on those cheap good players considering most were plastered all over the papers for months before we signed them.
  15. Doesn't our scouting network consist of 1 man looking for players in France who are cheap due to get out clauses and ending contracts? We've made good, but fairly obvious signings pretty much all from 1 country. If it is one of the best scouting networks in the league then the rest are rubbish.
  16. Think Pardew managed him quite well until this season, not really sure what happened. He continued to manage him the same way he did the previous 2 seasons.
  17. Guess that's what happens when the other four options are suspended, injured or not match fit. Even in 2014 Just as well we didn't bin him as we've nowt else left, though god knows how it will affect the passing game we've been becoming quite accomplished at of late. The other 4 options This includes our left winger, a player who's become allergic to scoring, and some lad we signed a couple of days ago
  18. You could apply this to almost every footballer in the world. AYE IAN YOU COULD MATE The obvious point is that our sheer lack of ambition means that there's a far greater pool of clubs who are a far more attractive option than us than needs be.
  19. My original point is we aren't wasting away Tim Krul's career, we've been brilliant to him. I also don't expect any transfer requests from him anytime soon either as i think he loves it here but were a top club come calling i think he will leave as you would expect him too. Surprised people think Krul is wasting away and will be looking for a new club. Don't think he's shown anything in the slightest to suggest that and it's just another case of look how good he is, he can do better than us, papers link him with another club so he will be leaving in the next window. I don't think anyone has said Tim Krul is looking for a new club? You're doing that thing again where you tell people what they're saying/thinking. We're basically limiting any player on our books to what they can achieve, it's not a stretch to suggest that is wasting their careers. Tim Krul and many others will have a lot of reasons why they love playing for the club, it's a great club regardless of the lack of ambition from the owners, but they'll never have a chance of winning anything here in a business that is primarily about winning things.
  20. Okay, What do you think Tim Krul could achieve in football realistically? If you could put yourself in his position, what do you think he thinks he can achieve? Can NUFC at present match his ambition or help him to get there? Or is the answer to Tim Krul's conundrum to move elsewhere? Does Tim Krul have a conundrum? He's playing every week in a top league in front of 50k fans and he's keeping goal for the Netherlands. I doubt he wakes up every morning gutted about how his career is going. Hmm, you know who that sounds an awful lot like? Yohan Cabaye. If any player yearns for and wants to play in the Champions League, or wants to win a cup. If they play for Newcastle United that simply wont happen. Our owner has our limits set and that really is that. It's disgusting and all we can do is wait for the day this cunt leaves. I'd be astonished if any player in the dressing room, Tim Krul included, wouldn't seriously consider a move to a more ambitious club. And it'll only increase the longer this goes on.

We've brought Krul through the ranks, he's progressed with us as he has with Dutch side, from under 18's, going up a level each time. Everytime Krul has been linked away, his quotes have never once said anything negative, not even a hint he might consider a move. Whereas Cabaye, would say he's happy here but hinted a lot he would leave. Krul has never moaned about the board or spoke badly of Pardew or anything to suggest he thinks his career is wasting away. I think he's one of the few players who genuinely loves being here and would only leave were a massive club come in for him. I'm not sure what kind of point you're trying to make here? That players don't leave clubs if they've been there for a while and have publicly said they're happy to stay? FWIW. Shay Given.
