I fancy him to play shit and for us to look toothless up front.

Okay, What do you think Tim Krul could achieve in football realistically? If you could put yourself in his position, what do you think he thinks he can achieve? Can NUFC at present match his ambition or help him to get there? Or is the answer to Tim Krul's conundrum to move elsewhere? Does Tim Krul have a conundrum? He's playing every week in a top league in front of 50k fans and he's keeping goal for the Netherlands. I doubt he wakes up every morning gutted about how his career is going. Hmm, you know who that sounds an awful lot like? Yohan Cabaye.

How can anyone claim out squad isn't threadbare? We've been quite lucky with injuries this season, but a couple now (and suspension to Remy) and look at the potential squad we'll be playing tomorrow? We have 2 strikers on loan, no left winger, no attacking midfielder Pardew is happy to use, no/poor back-up at RB or GK, no quality partner for Collocini and we've been playing a centre mid on the right all season. 1 or 2 injuries and we have to completely chance our formation or play people out of position.

Often waiting 2/3 windows for a replacement to arrive is infuriating for a fan. Waiting for the best deal possible, we could have signed Debuchy for 8 in the summer, wait a few of months then sign for 6 instead. That's how Ashley will always look it, is that good or bad? Opinion would differ between fans. "Bad" is the correct answer fwiw.

embarrassing. But aye, if in some alternate reality literally no player wants to come to the club we'd probably be best not selling the player in the first place.

You've lost me, I don't watch Corrie. Neither do I tbh so I honestly don't know if that works or not

He's here so let's not rage about it? Ian are you fucking Roy Cropper?

We'll probably not be able to lure anyone as good as Cabaye for under £20m, but that was our stupid fault for selling Cabaye for £20m The fact we haven't brought in a ready made replacement is indefencible, we still have a very strong chance of making Europe this year but if we can fuck this season off and get someone in the summer for a few million cheaper happy days for Mike.

And that buying to compete worked ever so well didn't it (short period with SBR aside - and he fell into Shepherd's lap). We are built to improve steadily, we won't spunk cash on an instant hit, because whatever we did spunk would be trumped times 10 by the City's and Chelsea's etc. I knew ToonPap would be in here. Telling us that, although he doesn't know Ashley, he knows men like him. Strong, powerful, alluring, success driven types, who never accept second best. Who shoot for the very top and never fall short. How we're so lucky so sit within the quivering folds of his obesity. How selling your best performers without replacing them is how every great sporting endevour should be run. Mug. OOOOH how grown up we are. We haven't replaced him yet, we will I am sure, the squad has undeniably improved over the last few years. I'd rather wait for the right player (and our hit rate is good) than some placebo type signing. The fact that the team is better, and playing better stuff, than it has for a very long time is vindication of the policy IMO. Mug. Aye, cannot even be arsed any more. What an absolute mug. "Wait for the right player" at which point another player or 2 have left and we're "waiting for the right player" to replace them too. We've been waiting for a left winger for years When that right one comes across he better be fucking good.

Balanced viewpoints ftw. I despise Ashley and everything he stands for but don't think we are 'actively not competing'. I don't think we're throwing games purposely but we've came out and said the cups will be used for team building, I would constitute that as actively not competing tbh.

Good day on the drink. We win yay, better day on the drink. We lose boo, badder day on the drink and another season of bollocks from them lot. It's an utterly meaningless game outside of that. That's what it's become. Yours sincerely, professional emo.
-
Why do people who rim Pardew also try to balance their defence to the board too? Atleast Happy Face isn't utterly confused in that sense.
-
It's the only time supporting the club where I've become almost totally apathetic.
-
I'd prefer he didn't wake up.
-
He probably knows we're taking the piss and cannot be arsed with having his career muddled about with a day before the transfer window closes.
-
He left a club that would have given him champions league football to come to us. It's money that really matters these days. Although obviously a club that has a chance of winning trophies helps too. Big difference between staying at a team that will be also-rans in the competition and moving to a team that could potentially win it though. No doubt in my mind that he'd have went to PSG even without a pay rise.

Coward.

I don't even think our chance of winning the FA cup was slim this year. Had we not threw the match away to Cardiff at home we'd have played Bolton away and then Wigan at home for a chance in the quaters and only 2 of the top 4 remaining. For all we can laugh at other teams getting an easy draw, we'd get them too if we stopped getting knocked out so early.
-
The bids may aswell be false if they're always under what the other club perceive to be the value. I have no doubt that we placed a bid for Grenier, I don't think anyone doubts that, but we're not willing to pay what he's worth and probably never have been. If we cannot get him on the cheap then we'll not get him at all. Miss out on our number 1 target if we can get number 5 for cheaper, or maybe we'll wait another window or 3 before trying again?
-
All this talk about nothing to play for, we're 9 points off 4th. If we didn't flog Cabaye that would probably be 7. There's everything to play for if we weren't so laughably unambitious.
-
might it not have been prudent to source alternatives before hand? rather than one player? A bid under the valuation and wages half of what cabaye was getting? He said this 2 days ago, man: Bloke doesn't know where he's at.
-
Maybe he doesn't fancy us because our offer was laughably bad? That wont sit well with the "Fair play to Ian W. The amount of s*** he takes for the amount of sense he talks is amazing" brigade.

Joe's cunning plan of going in with a lower offer

Get the scales out, Joe.
