  1. Aye, you're absolutely spot on there tbh. I'm guilty of the same too
  2. I think most people do though? It's just made out the the entire forum is relentlessly anti-Pardew at times which I don't think is the case.
  3. Shhh don't say that you'll get hounded on here for that. Fwiw we've won all but one game at home (the other being a 0-0 draw which we had two goals disallowed against Metalist) since the influx so I'm still quite optimistic No you won't and I wish people would stop this He did a great job last year but he hasn't built upon it at all, we're now suffering from the same problems that we did during our bad patches last season and his footballing philosophy is getting harder and harder to take by the game. I have no problem with people being content with Pardew, I suppose I am too, but this reaction towards anyone who would prefer a better manager in to push us to next level is just daft.
  4. The penalty was from a corner too wasn't it?
  5. Hi, I'm Barry Scott. Remove the first line of you post and it instantly goes from shit to un-shit.
  6. The thing is our manager will be forced to go against his inhabitation and go full on at St James' Park, it's a mammoth task but I fully would have expected us to sit back and take an anal raping had we came home with a lead in the tie
  7. It would be different for me if that stat wasn't mainly down to 2 massive injuries caused by clumsy tackles. People rushing to call him a crock because of this ongoing hamstring problem was weird.
  8. Wasn't far off their 'second' one last night. I thought his dive was a bit late and/or hesitant tbh, it was a great penalty but I think he would have stopped it if he fully committed.
  9. Cabaye certainly should have been booked (I'm glad he wasn't though as he would have missed the 2nd leg ) But yeah, as you said it wasn't really a performance worth discussing
  10. Except the one that went for them I can only imagine that Benfica fans aren't used to the physicality as much and wanted more fouls given when one of their players fell over holding their face?
  11. If the Benfica fans actually think the referee had a bad game I'm astonished.
  12. Taylor saw it late but unlike every other footballer in the world his natural reaction to a ball coming towards his arm is to go ahead and elbow it before groping his bollocks instead of attempting to move it out of the way

    Because he's a bigfella
  14. Lol, we played without our (maybe) 4 best players: Salvio, Lima, Enzo, and Maxi! Lets wait to 2nd leg. I can bet with you that you won't win the game. And take a look at this: http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/trank2014.html in next year we will be the 6th best Team in Europe! We'll be in pote 1. So Benfica isn't very average, we are really a good team Lima played and scored Anyway Ben Arfa, Coloccini, Debuchy, Gouffran & Tiote were all out or unavailable so that argument doesn't really hold up. Ben Arfa being out for us is pretty much the footballing equivalent of Peter North losing his bollocks.
  15. We were without 5 first team players and made a decent account of ourselves at the SoL which is very pleasing, they're quite clearly the far superior footballing side though and are probably a lot better than they showed today. I still cannot get over the difference in footballing philosophies from both managers, even though this was one of our better days in that regard.
  16. Their fans get entertained as least, good attacking football. Was funny when Garay did a single hoof clearance and the crowd jeered it. Aye I remember that IMAGIne them watching the stuff we serve up man, there would be fucking riots
  17. I think you guys just read what you want to read, personally. Most on here were realistic about our chances/the abilities of our teams and were generally accepting of the probable outcome of the tie. They were also at home and needed the post & linesman's aid as well as the opposition to gift them 2 goals. i think we didnt see the same game...lol Clearly not.
  18. Still though, as I said I envy their style of play, it's fucking great to watch.

  20. I was convinced that was Marveaux at first, one of the passes of the season from us
  21. Opposition effectively sitting on the half way line. Bring on Shola. If I didn't laugh I'd cry.
  22. I made a fucking weird noise within the time it looked like it may be creeping in to it hitting the post. yheeerrrrrarrrrr
