  1. I rather Lovernkrands on a 1 year contract than Michael Dawson on a 5 year contract tbh.
  2. Ner not stone the fucker, just laugh at him when he ends up at Fulham.
  3. I find it mental how in the modern era a club can have shit loads of money to actually invest in a great squad, but insist on going down the tried, tested and failed route of not actually setting up a proper scouting system/transfer plan and just buying a load of over-rated shite and hopeless journeymen. We really are blessed to have been one of the few who seem to have sussed a decent system out. We all know what is going to happen with QPR as it's happened fucking dozens of times before.
  4. The difference is the player doesn't get his contract/loyalty bonuses and his percentage of the transfer fee etc depending on his clauses... *See the Carroll situation ect*
  5. Seriously, where are you guys getting these reports from? Guy, not guys. I might be talking shite but that's what the 'reports' were early on in the window, regardless of if it's true or not I think he's made it pretty clear he wants to leave.
  6. Does a transfer request really make a difference? They know he wants to leave and he's even missed training and initially refused to play for them again. I cannot really see how filling in a form is going to change anything.
  7. That post was better before the edit
  8. I think the Simpson for England talk was more a jibe at the rest of the English RB's also being shite, rather than Simpson being any good. He did have a decent spell though as Ryan Taylor became the anti-Christ for a month or so, he's never looked as solid as Steven Taylor has in both the Championship and last season though, nowhere near.
  9. Douglas may be a steal for £4.5m, but we could bring in a younger and better player to the club in January*. We may even spend more on that player if we think he's more suited to what we need. We've shown that we're willing to spend money on players who will improve the club so I've got no doubt that if we do fail to sign Douglas it's not because £4.5m is out of our price range, it's either because he doesn't want to come here, we believe we can get a better player in, or what we have is suitable for the time being. On the other hand if we do get him it will be because he is the player we want and he will be viewed as a big improvement to the squad. *If we sign Douglas now the chances are he will be the only 'big name' center back we will buy for a couple of year, unless he turns out to be total shite.
  10. You just want to see transfers, mate. That much is painfully obvious. You keep on making these assumptions, like the one I've kindly highlighted above, and seem to have convinced yourself it's the truth. Time to take a step back, see where we are, where we've come from, and how we've got here. This is spot on like, transfers are fun and people want to see them in full flow every transfer window. Sometimes it's better to just assess what you have.
  11. What was the perfect corner anyway? That mental bit of man love between Ba, Saylor and Cisse, or the "pass back to Ben Arfa and let him run into the box FIFA style"?
  12. Yeah that's what I mean though, Douglas may not want competition, he may want guaranteed first team football. I'm not saying that is the case mind. If we are to sign a centre back I would prefer that they were either of the highest quality (i.e Coloccini) to walk straight into our starting XI and improve us 10 fold, or they were young and willing to sit on the bench, but still able to provide decent cover or even stiff competition to Saylor and eventually take over Colo when he leaves. I don't know if Douglas falls into any of those categories as I've never seen him play. It's not like RB and ST where respectively we need a player to come straight in and improve us and a player to provide cover, at CB we have an excellent pairing already in place and acceptable cover in reserve. (I rambled a bit there but you get the idea) We've already done that. Curtis Good? Fair enough, but I'm more on about a player in the Santon mould (although that's slightly contradictory as he's our best fullback), young and very highly rated in one of the top leagues. We don't really know a great deal about Good yet though so he may turn out to be a world beater, or he may be in the same boat as Vuckic in a few years time where he's effectively in a make or break season.

  14. Aye, it worked with us with Ben Arfa & Cisse (well Cisse to a degree as he came on after 10 minutes).
  15. I wonder if this is the way it's being viewed. Colo, Taylor, Williamson, Perch, Good as our CB options, perhaps we think we can get by. Personally feel fullback and another attacker are more pressing needs, especially fullback. A CB would have been nice though. Williamson isn't good enough , Taylor is injury prone, Good is a kid, ok on Perch but if we are looking to qualify on CL football he should'nt be so high in the pecking order. CB should be very high on our list of priority's, it's an extremely weak position. If we miss out due to the sum of 500k it is f*cking stupid, same with if miss out on Debuchy due to the sum of 1m. Two obvious signings which would obviously improve us and two players we have tracked for a very long time and we miss out due to we don't want to pay an extra 1.5m for the both of them. It's f*cking retarded, i'm for getting deals but when the difference is so small especially when we already have had 5 million come into the club this summer we should just pay it. Especially when a club has agreed a fee for a player. Douglas would either have to sit second fiddle to Taylor or vice-versa though, meaning we may not be able guarantee him an automatic start meaning he won't want to come here? He was fucking excellent alongside Colo last year until his injury and it isn't set in stone that Douglas will perform any better. Also Williamson is good enough back-up, I don't want him starting too many games like he did last season but he's certainly good enough to slot into our defence ffs.
  16. If he goes there we're missing out, it's as simple as that.. Not really. Yes really So we should buy EVERY player who we have shown an interest in as soon as another club has a decent price accepted? I know Pardew has mentioned Douglas but that doesn't exactly mean that he's the only centre back that we're interested in, there may be another completely off the radar, or we may be thinking about assessing what we have until January. We have no idea what the reasoning will be, but it's not always us just "missing out" because Mike is too cheap, or we are too slow.

  18. If we don't match the offer then hopefully it's a case of us deciding we're not interested in the player anymore as opposed to us "missing out".

They just cannot help it But yeah, how the world will laugh when you reveal "I'm flying back to Newcastle", tears will literally be streaming down their faces.

He's our manager so they're basically just making up some detestable personality for him and going with it, they seem to do that kind of thing a lot.
  21. Aye, you deserve to be relegated if you get beat at Goodison Park like, may as well just liquidate the club.
  22. The top 8 should be class this year, great result for Everton like, probably a bad result for us.
