Apparently van Aanholt openly stated he didn't want to play for them anymore. Just been mentioned on SSN.

Based on what. We've been in the top 2 since about September, we're 9 points clear of 3rd we have players coming back from injury very soon and by the start of next month we'll have 3 players returning from the African cup of nations. I really do wonder what some of our supporters have been watching this season. Are you seriously trying to say that the side has looked convincing without Shelvey...? If so, its you who must have been watching something different to most of us. Just because we are second in the table - on the back of an unbeaten run which happened earlier in the season - in NO way means we are guaranteed to stay there - especially if we lose players like Shelvey or Gayle. Yes, we beat a Rotherham side without Gayle but they are certainties for relegation and we struggled for the first 45 minutes to create any meaningful chances and could have gone in a goal behind. Ever since Shelvey has been out of the side(and sometimes even with him in it)we have struggled and lost more games than most promotion sides ever do. Brighton show no signs of falling away and neither do Reading...both won earlier this week and teams like Leeds are going to keep plugging away because they know if we falter they have a chance. Until we start playing convincing, winning football at SJP - and against better teams than Rotherham - I will retain my opinion that the jury would be out on automatic promotion if we fail to strengthen the positions we need to and lose vital players. Jesus. Stop trying to put words in my mouth. I was simply pointing out facts to you. Of course there is no guarantees but it would take a huge fuck up on our part to not get promoted. Try and enjoy the season pal.

  8. Definitely. Its set to get colder from tomorrow night into the weekend.
  9. I just accept it in my mind now that Brighton will win whatever game they play.

It's a question of getting your priorities right mate It's only football man. I've got a feeling we'll be hearing a lot of this 'its only football' when they go down Completely forgetting the way they went on with us last summer The Championship will become a good league as well. Not shit like it is this season.

Where? Not what I've seen and heard. They think he's utter s****. https://thejack.army/threads/barrow-for-ayew.13188/ Have you read that? So maybe two of them think he's fast and has potential. That's basically a lie, I've just read that thread.

Why? Because of the next sentence, basically. Maybe he'll come in and feature a lot but it sounds like he's an erratic type that needs a bit of refinement so I doubt Rafa will throw him in the team any time soon. But even if we bought him outright he might hardly feature. Can't see him starting more games than Ritchie so I don't see the problem in a loan. I don't find the loan deal odd.

This^. People were livid when we signed Clark and Murphy and now look at them. People need to learn to trust Rafa.
  15. Seem the Express has picked up on this now (from Sky Sports Transfer Centre)... "Newcastle have reportedly asked Dynamo Zagreb about Ante Coric and Filip Benkovic as part of a transfer push that could see the Magpies spend £35m before deadline day." The mackems would have the financial fair play rule book out and there'd be letters and emails flying the F.A's way.
  16. Remember the contract Rafa signed in the summer where he was to be given full control of transfers... Its understandable why people are worried but it was widely reported Rafa has a watertight contract to avoid Ashley interfering.

    Andros Townsend

One of those tossas who thinks everyone wants to hear his opinion, all the time.

    Andros Townsend

I don't think anyone doubts the extra quality he'd bring to the side, I think it's more of a 'he jumped ship for a Pardew led Palace, f*** him' thing. I'd have him back in a second, like. Only thing bothering me about it is the quote in the paper saying that Townsend himself is the one who wants the loan only because we're not certain to be Premier League next season. Obviously it's just speculation with no substantial quotes or anything, but while the possibility of it being true is still there it'll get to me and to be honest with the way he left, it seems more likely that it is true than not to me. Dont want or need that type of player at Newcastle The thing is, as it turns out when he joined us last time, he had the relegation clause put in incase we did go down. That didn't stop him playing well in those 5 months, or to be any less committed to the team/cause. Therefore I don't see it being any different this time. Whether he joins on loan or permanent, I don't think it'll affect his performances for us. And, touch wood, everything will work out fine by the summer anyway, for everyone. I really don't care if it is him wanting the loan deal to be honest. He WILL improve us and help us get promoted and that is the main thing.
  19. Don't like the sound of that. Sounds like it's out of his hands. Slow Charnley bumbling about no doubt. When it comes to the financial side of things and trying to tie a deal up, it's out of every managers hands.
