If Tiote is a real doubt better not to risk him and risk aggravating an injury. Get him sorted for the Everton match as that'll be a tough but very winnable match. I'd say Taylor's inclusion at the back is more important in this game to deal with the aerial threat but then you could argue that both players are so crucial that they're of equal importance. The difference is Guthrie can come in and do an ok job whereas who the hell would replace Taylor if he missed the match?

I'd rather we don't take a chance on him and aggravate an injury and in this game Taylor's inclusion at centre half may be more important. Links to the big clubs are bound to surface because Tiote's that good and because we have an owner who will always think of the £££££ signs first and the progression of the team second. Sadly I could see him going next summer but it would be criminal to sell any of our key players in January...........oh wait haven't we been here before

Sunderland fans I've spoken to to don't even want Cattermole in the side because he's nothing more than a football thug who goes out to intentially hurt people and in the process stops them from playing proper football.

L'Equipe: Modibo Maiga fails medical; transfer 'abandoned'

Seems to be pretty good in the air from the clips I've seen, lots of headed goals. -
Blackburn

The sad thing is I can see it happening. Simply because they'll throw a load of money at him and in football today that's what counts sadly. Add to the fact we have an owner who is constantly thinking of ways to make/save money by shifting players off big contracts and selling them. You'd have to hope that the fact we're doing really well, Liverpool hardly setting the world alight, he enjoys living in the NE with his family settled and if the club can reward him with a proper contract then that should be enough to keep him. Liverpool are really starting to boil my p*ss though, can't f***ing stand them.

Vidic and Evra were written off by many from fans to pundits. Once they'd found there feet in the league look what happened. One particular Man U mate of mine has been properly made to eat his words regarding those two

Think we just have to have a real go at them using our strengths and not try and match up to their bully tactics. Don't get me wrong you've got to be tough in games like this but get at their full backs and with some incisive play we can get goals there, Liverpool proved that last night even if it was the Cup.

We'll need him this season and he'll do a decent job.

And yet against Wigan we didn't play that well and still got the three points, that's just the way things go. Blackburn are still royally in the shit make no mistake. Their manager is desperately clinging on but I don't for one minute by his constant bleating as it's becoming tedious now. Would enjoy seeing Norwich have them at home and see the misery continue

I'm fully expecting so ludicrous over-reactions in this thread tomorrow, lol "He's shit never going to be like he was against Everton last season"
-
Ah well the run was going to come to an end at some point. We were a fortunate away at Wolves and so some games just aren't going to go for you. As in victory no doubt the lads will learn a bit more about themselves in defeat. Take it on the chin and move on, they'll get knocked out in the next round and they're royally fucked in the league.
-
Yeah assuming once he comes into the team on a regular basis he'll really add something. Apart from Obertan's pace and some glimpses in the Blackburn game at home we've been pretty impotent down the right in general. Simpson is a decent defender but pretty poor going forward. Marveaux should help to change this.
-
No worries with Abeid starting coming in in midfield, be good for the lad to get games too. Looks a good player.

It usually takes foreign players a season to adjust to the premier league, Ben Arfa didn't even get that last season. Throw in a crippling injury followed by another fairly serious injury............ People need to dampen down their immediate expectations of the lad. He's a wonderful talent and I've no doubt he'll go on to have a brilliant season but people are being far far too quick to come to conclusions as to how he's performing or how he'll do. Look at Silva at Citeh, he did alright last season but now he's used to the Prem he's absolutely flying in the league this season.

Lad can never stay fit

A good performance from Marveaux at Blackburn will surely see him in the lineup against Stoke away.....well you'd assume anyway. I think we may well see much better from Obertan in time maybe as an impact sub but right now it's not happening and Carver/Pardew are going to be earning their money to get him up to something resembling a threat. -

It's becoming clear that adding Marveaux to the right will give the side much more control, patience in attack and ultimately much more of a threat down the right. Right now Jonas is playing out of his skin but we aren't getting near enough down the right side. The disappointing thing is that in the interview the other night Pardew sounded like they were right on the ball with the Obertan issue with not attacking the full back enough and therefore offering nothing as a threat (apart from his pace). So for him to have such a poor game when they've clearly spent time with him in training is a bit worrying....................none of our players deserve to be fucking jeered off though and it's completely counterproductive.
