Nickson is pretty good on transfer targets isn’t he in terms of continental options? Hopefully he can unearth some good options.

I can see him being lethal away from home but don’t see him breaking teams down at home. Still if he’s who Eddie wants (if this is the case) then so be it. I still think it might be a left field signing out of nowhere at LW.

Id probably agree but I can see why they’d want a keeper who is good with their feet. It’s definitely going to be a balancing act to cover all these positions.

Im starting to come round more to the first option. There’s less risk in the sense that we now have a spine of solid premier league performers and our previous recruitment has done pretty well from the continent hasn’t it 😂 If signing from the content allows us to spread the load more in terms of signings then so be it.

I’m no saying I’m excited about a potential DCL signing, far from it but look what Howe has done with other players already. He clearly sees something there and thinks he can improve him/get him back to his best. Again if it facilities getting our main targets at RW and CB then fine because we likely can’t go “big” everywhere.

This is how I’m thinking too. He would’ve been ideal but clearly wanted ridiculous money which we weren’t going to pay. We would’ve still given him a great wage, CL football, working under Howe, St James park but it seems the main driver was cash. Fair play if that’s what he wants but we haven’t been signing players like that.

I think Howe could get the best out of him but if it also facilitates Mbuemo and Guehi then fine.

If we go into next season with Murphy as our only proper RW option something will have gone badly wrong this summer. As you say we’re needed a top RW for years.

For some reason I feel like we might get gazumped on wages for Mbuemo by Man U and he’ll go there even tho from a footballing sense it make sense to come to us.

It would be very disappointing if we didn’t sign at least one player early on. We’ve had yonks to put together a list, suss out player demands, contact agents etc. A lot of the work will surely have been done. If we aren’t moving to sign anyone until July that would raise some concerns for me.

True but I’d expect close to 150m with barely any expenditure the last 3 windows and sales in Jan. I’m sure they’ll bring in some good players but 100m isn’t much really unless there’s some mega wheeling and dealing.
