I would imagine there was a high degree of lacking trust/confidence in the knee. Ironically there is often a greater risk in rupturing the opposite knee after surgery and rehab so he should be fine once he’s back.

I can’t directly comment on either Krafths or Tino’s surgery (well or any of them for that matter lol). An ACL usually is either ruptured and needs surgery or its not. Some athletes in the NFL have played with a ruptured ACL for a full season without issue, it’s rare though. Clearly there was some discussion over Botman as to whether it was to the extent it needed surgery. I think one of the consultants in Italy that a lot of them go to uses a synthetic graft rather than hamstring which speeds up rehab time (as a normal graft requires time to profilerate and strengthen). I wouldn’t be concerned about a Jan return at all. He’ll be under constant daily monitoring, his leg strength outcome measures and plyometric leg strength will be assessed endlessly and then they’ll phase hims back into training drills.

January would be 10 months post op which in an elite setting is ample time given they have specific rehab daily. I get my Joe Public ACLs back running by 12 weeks, kicking a ball with basic drills 6 months, non contact drills from 9 months, full contact 12 months.

Hes gone at the end of the season and there are more pressing concerns in the squad e.g RCB and RW particularly given our tight financial situation.

Move him on in Jan and get him off the wage bill to help bring a new winger in. We have Tino and Krafth as back up.

We lack options to break teams down and goals have been an issue so far this season. Even with the re-emergence of the Joe and Joe combo it’s a position that has to be addressed for me.

I think a RW this January if we could get one could make all the difference. We’ve found more balance in the last few games but having another genuine goal threat and being able to have Gordon right or left too would take us up another notch.

Totally agree, we have to back up that win against Arsenal with a performance at Forest. I’d love a win, would take a point but it’s more about how we perform. At least the players will be going into this full of confidence.

I think what this week shows is football can change quickly and fans can lose perspective a bit too quickly. We have a really tough match against Forest away but we’ll go there really confident I think and can give them loads Of problems.

Most exciting thing for me is Hall and Tino, both brilliant and brilliant prospects. Hall is really coming into his own now. The team/squad just needs some more pace at centre half and another RW and we can have a really strong second half of the season.

Yeah Hall was basically saying this in his match interview. Had been playing better but not seeing results.
