Thanks a lot for clearing that up, makes the whole 'generous owner' tag look a whole lot different

When they go into administration. Here's a question that I should probably put in the daft football questions thread, but, most football clubs are in a lot of debt, certainly the ones in the PL. They're in this debt because obviously their owners have taken out loans rather than paying from their own pocket. Since the financial meltdown do we know if banks are still as willing to loan money to clubs?

I once walked out of my job because the rota had me in for Shearer's testimonial and they wouldn’t swap it. I was only part time at Mills Newsagents at the time like. You’re a doctor, suppose it's not as simple as that. Mills newsagents? The one in Whitley Bay? Maybe I'm being an idiot but I never knew of any Mills outside W Bay
  4. This certainly would be disappointing news "Hey guys, we tried to get Debuchy but we failed...the silver lining is Simpson is signing a new contract" This place will f***ing erupt. Personally, I wouldn't be happy about it with its long-term implications for the RB slot but who knows, could well be a pile of shite
  5. This certainly would be disappointing news
  6. Big thumbs up on this one. Disappointed will also be how I feel if we don't sign anyone, however, I will have no specific gripes unless it were to continue as such in consecutive windows. I don't believe for a second it would
  7. Nah man, he'd be an excellent signing. saw him a fair amount last season. He's really young but has bags of pace, tricks and really attacks defenders. think he'd add something we don't have
  8. That's reason enough not to go for carroll
  9. Looks to be potentially he a worse man manager than souness, certainly for players he deems not worthy of his team. You don't show all your cards to the press man, I think he must already be feelin a lot of pressure to be pulling out lines which how his hands are tied in the transfer market. Fucking hilarious

The Dilsh is fucking class like. Shame he's not looking very promising with the gloves
  11. Probably done with this thread for a while but just wanted to say, excellent post mate. I may be wrong but I think we once had some lengthy debates about Ben Arfa starting and disagreed but everything you've said here has made perfect sense
  12. I actually think Rodgers has something wrong with him based on those quotes. What a fucking retard
  13. Nah, it was dead in the water about 7 pages back. Since then I've brought lots of straw men into the argument though and childish ideas so I guess it ended up being worthwhile after all
  14. No worries Ian, the only time I ever get properly animated when talking about Nufc is when I'm talking about the transfer window. Quite enjoy talking about it even if it descends into these types of debates
  15. Mate, you've brought in some ridiculous, unnecessary references to Mike Ashley and Dekka. Seems like you've got a deeper problem here than the transfer dealings. Many people who support the transfer regime don't even like Ashley or Dekka, myself included. Stop bringing them into it and making pointless extraneous claims
  16. Aye, and it would take one first teamer to go above Man City into 8th. This discussion is pointless. There are several people on here, Ian W, Gimp, myself, High Five who think that our transfer policy works just fine because we're looking at how we've moved on in the past couple of years. There are several others who have the opposing view based upon what they think will happen if we don't change our policy. We may well sign a player still, we may not. Either way, I've been happy with the signings we've made this window and am happy with the way the club is going. We are looking at sustained long-term success and if it doesn't happen in this window, maybe it will in the next or the one after. No one's apologising for anything, we've gone from getting relegated to finishing fifth. We're not going to finish fifth this year but that doesn't mean we can't build more this year upon last year. Where you finish in the table isn't completely indicative of where your club is at
  17. Nice, let's tie this up and hopefully avoid any suicides in the 'thoughts on the summer's transfer window' thread
  18. Love Martinez, shame he's gone to Bayern. He's a player you could see just slotting into any team and making them better
  19. Feel sorry for him, really do but it's good news for us
  20. Hope that's all true, hope AVB fails. Was speaking to a Portuguese lad the other day and he said that over when he was managing Porto he was incredibly arrogant. I think he really believes he's a great manager already
  21. I remember reading people lose their heads completely like this inthe last four windows where they signed off in a rage. Things haven't worked out too badly since then though
