  1. Looking lean and ready for football.
  2. I got the old Dennis Wise on the go and it was basically him being offside or missing chances for 3 and a half minutes...
  3. While I agree we need to see a total defensive overhaul I doubt we'll sign a new pair of CB's. I think we'll still be lumbered with Taylor and Colo come the start of the season. Dummett and Lascelles (sp?) will be factored into those figures so I can only see 1 coming in unfortunately. It will only be 1 striker as well unless we sell someone, because 5 strikers, however crap they may be, will ruin the balance sheets. Pace. Pace everywhere is what I want to see.
  4. No to Ince like. Can't be associate with his dickhead dad. Surprised there's not more people clamoring for left sided players mind. Looks a massive weakness ATM.
  5. I'm of the opinion that having a wage structure is no bad thing unless the player is exceptional. If you give a player 90k then everybody else will want 90k. I don't think telling them "we'll we have to pay a fee for you so your wages will be lower" flys with other players. It's not just about the life time cost of the deal.
  6. So the local rag that wasn't invited to the interviews yesterday know how much the club will spend? Nonsense. We'll spend no where near that amount of money. What's the max we've ever spent in a window? About 25M? Richards is just Steven Taylor man. The lads 27 this month, has barely played football to any consistent level and is a moron. He's not a kid anymore who might get better.
  7. I'm still struggling to understand why De Boer under the same administration would equal game changing, fighting against the regime style change yet McClaren equals automatic Pardew clone. Any manager willing to work under the constraints of the club is surely a total stooge and therefore it would make no difference whether it was Jurgen Klopp or Steve Kean if that is your stance? FWIW, I think it'll end in tears (or massive shrugs) but I won't condemn a man for getting into bed with this club any more than I would condemn a player for signing for us or someone who wasn't McClaren taking the position. No one has won me round with this announcement and it hasn't changed my thirst for change when it comes to our owner but I don't believe we'll see any benefit instantly writing people off just because they are willing to be associated with the club. I think people can still be here and still have a bit of professional pride and a bit of fight in them regardless of the owner.
  8. This doesn't sit well with me at all. Seems unnatural and suspicious.
  9. I would hate to see this happen. They are supposed to get carver and Shola. Not cabs.
  10. Nope. We need someone who won't be angling or considered for the job at all when time comes for a new manager. Sick of this care taker becoming manager bullshit.

    John Carver

There are two blokes in a white van who are gutted right now.
  12. He is hated because of what he isn't. If he had signed for us with a proper Cabaye replacement coming in and he filled in for 20 or so games a seasons, coming off the bench or play here and there we'd all just shrug and undoubtedly say that it's a team game and you need a squad. Instead, he is emblematic with everything that is wrong with the club. Someone cheap and under qualified for his responsibility who looks completely untouchable. He is also just not very good.
  13. Who can say? Most sites are saying it'll be by the end of the week though.
  14. Ings is a funny one. It looks like this move is another of those where a young player jumps to a bigger team too early, especially when he will be there as one of their first choice strikers. I think now though Liverpool are a different beast, not what they once were and if he was going to make a jump I think it's as high as he could go without risking getting playing time. After Liverpool/Tottenham it's free for all each season for those lower places so there wouldn't be much between everyone else which isn't exactly appealing. It does present an interesting question for the likes of Austin, Benteke and Berahino who I though might have gotten a look in. All 4 of them looked to move to another side, 1 has gone and I wonder where the others will go.
  15. Gonna be one of those windows where every club signs at least one player we could have done with while we bring in dross isn't it. Remy and Gomis at Swansea would be hilarious to see mind.
  16. So want this to be way better than it is. The level is appauling and I'm sure it's not representative of all of women's football but its bloody hard to watch, let alone care, when it is this bad.
  17. Fucking hate the capitals in these types of articles, like we should be impressed. "TWO strikers". Piss off.
  18. Richards is exactly the type of player we should avoid. Hell end up at West From or somewhere on a stupid contract. Also is not a centre half. Not sure about Austin/Cisse as our two forwards mind. I'd like to see some pace in the front lines. Someone who can scare defenses.
  19. Smells a little of Amir Zaki for me but I think he would get goals. As good as he is going to be now tho, where as I think Ings has greater potential and offers a bit more.
  20. As of today, 18th. Even if we recruit well I doubt we'll trouble the top 10 because I'll think as always well buy decent players but the wrong players.
  21. Okay, clearly this thread is a bit techy at the moment for a little to tongue in cheek comment.
  22. He plays in Italy, what do you expect? 38-year-old Luca Toni scored 21 goals last season. So you're saying we should look at Luca Toni?
  23. I just checked and Massimo Maccarone is apparently still playing. 10 goals last year as well...
