I love our "why buy what you need now when something cheaper is only 12 months away". Then the cheaper or " value" option doesn't want to come anyway so you mark the date in your calander 12 months from now when the next one might be available and go into another season short. Maybe a decent defensive partnership is in the plans. Lee will have it sorted in 2018 after consulting his crystal ball.
  2. You'd think we'd be looking at a 7 year high on the sterling/euro exchange and licking our lips. Think of the savings we can make!
  3. Had a canny game for Southampton at CM yesterday as well.
  4. He played a ball that was like a chop-pass that actually looked really good, but I still am not sure why it was precisely necessary and he does tend to try little flicks or weird passes in our own half when you really just want it kept simple. Save that stuff for tight areas. I also feel a bit conflicted by his physicality, or lack there of. On the one hand, he is very lightweight and just because he's little doesn't mean he isn't getting fouled when people go into the back of him and such, but he also doesn't help himself when he's been fairly tackled and he still flails around. There were times yesterday I think he was genuinely brought down but no foul was given because of all the times he just loses out by being weak. Still think he needs to be in the team every week mind.
  5. When he's in the opposition half I'm excited. When he's in our own half I'm terrified. Involved in most our best and most of our worst stuff today.
  6. We beat Liverpool and Jose Enrique was in goal learning about our league position. That was the last time I felt pure joy in relation to the club.

    John Carver

Harrowing flashbacks to Terry Connor at the moment.
  8. Completed more dribbles (12) than any other player in a single game this season says sky this morning. Against the league leaders no less. I think about him and like most people I think his shooting is woeful, how many great opportunities has he squandered? And then I think to my self, how many times can I remember gouffran even taking a shot or being in that type of position where he might have to take a shot. It is incredible how his treatment, if not his talent, has mirrored Hatem.
  9. He's going to roll over Sunderland isn't he.
  10. You guys are all crazy getting your hopes up. Instead, I'm going to thumb through my collection of '96 season Pro Match cards to find a more likely candidate. I wonder what Ron Atkinson is up to these days...
  11. Does he know the league though lads? Ligue 1, cup wins and the Champions League aren't the same as 12th place in the Barclays Premier League. Has he got what it takes, you know, because he is French? Now if he'd maybe relegated a few teams, clogged around your coastal minnows or mid-England yo-yo teams, then I'd be more impressed by his credentials.
  12. They're all idiots man. I Had talksport on the radio going into town before the Burnley game and Collymore reckoned Pardew was on the B-list of managers. You've got your A-list, Guardiola, Ferguson, Jose and then right below that tier is our former leader. I almost crashed the car.
  13. It would be absolutely crazy if he didn't. They obviously value his input as the entire financial model of the club is based around Carr's scouting so it would be amazing (but totally predictable) if we signed another "runners and jumpers" type manager because he's on the cheap. If the point is to maximise the value of your assets for resale then you should get someone who will go about getting the most of the players and achieve those values, someone who will work well will foreign players and their particular skill sets. Things like passing, movement, technical ability, those qualities deemed unsuitable for the English game by Pardew.
  14. We should be looking at someone of a reasonable age (think of the sell on value!) and pedigree to go hand in hand with the young lad from Forest coming in and start afresh as the current options are horrific. Instead we'll pin our hopes on a kid and go into another season with Williamson.
  15. Desperate to see this lad either succeed or fail. At the moment he isn't given the opportunity to do either. If we can see him play a good run of games and see that he is dreadful then I can stop getting annoyed that the likes of Gouffran and Armstrong are being played ahead of him because they will be their on merit. At the moment I'm forced to watch the same people consistently fail or underachieve and there seems to be no penalty for that. I mean he's behind a full back for a wide position now going by today's showing...
  16. I feel awful piling in on the lad because he didn't ask to be put in this position, but bloody hell, you've got to at least make some saves. He doesn't have to be perfect. He doesn't even have to attain the heady heights of being called "average" but he has to be at least capable of doing the basics. There were far too many times today when he could have comfortably just grabbed the ball and instead he chose to tip it out for a corner or punch it. Really made some very ordinary shots look spectacular and that has been the case since he was first dropped into this mess. Shocking that he is even an option really, but when you've got your manager going into a season and he has no idea if his 3rd choice keeper is even any good then this is what you get I guess. Need to loan someone and we need to do it now.
  17. I think both him and Sissoko need to be taken to one side and told not to roll their body with the ball in the centre of the field because it's giving Tiote ideas that he can do the same and it's terrifying. Or just don't play Tiote.
  18. Been here before time and again. With wonga and pardew and buyers etc. Always gets denied the following day unfortunately.
  19. I'm glad to see gouffran in his natural CM position again. We've looked weak there since Santon's injury IMO.
  20. Bit worried about this 2 strikers business. Don't get adventurous on us now Alan.
  21. I can never actively want the team to lose, but I'll be gutted if he scums a win to take the pressure off him next week. I'm really hoping the Hull game will get very nasty for him.
  22. Nastasic to Everton would be so, so depressing. In fact, any capable defender going to anyone outside the top 5 or so clubs today will be.
  23. Def going to Southampton. Medical today according to Koeman.
