  1. This strikes me as exactly what Pardieu would say if we were interested in him.
  2. He'll go to Birmingham with Hughton and win the Europa League.
  3. Plus Routledge is almost past his sell by date under the Ashley policy, he needs replacing.
  4. *last I have a gut feeling this transfer will happen, based on our track record of going for a young, English speaking (but avoiding the English premium), set of squad players. This is evident most recently in us going for N.Taylor, but also Best, Routledge, Gosling, Ferguson, Simpson, Guthrie. It's not a terrible signing for cover, he has potential, and is on low wages. If it frees up money for quality first team players whilst providing cover then I'm all for it.

  6. I don't know why so many people are against this signing, I've just done some Dennis Wise scouting on him and he doesn't seem awful. Our track record of picking up players in the lower leagues has been good this season, if Carr and Pardew think he has a chance of making it then for 1m or so I don't see how it can go too badly wrong. He seems like exactly the type of squad player we need.
  7. No biggie, lets sign Marvin Martin and/or Jeremy Menez.
  8. Perch: Should be released on a free, we need to cut our losses and get rid of him, I'd drive him to any club who wanted to sign him. Taraabt: Would be a good signing next summer if we can pick him up for <5m after he's had an average season in the premiership and after QPR have been relegated. He would be a good impact sub to have, and hopefully he'll have grown up a little. N'Zogbia: There is no reason as to why we should miss out on Zoggy other than price, we should match anything Sunderland bid, as I don't want him going there. That said, I'd be over the moon with Menez or Martin in his place. Sturridge: Seems overvalued, that said there don't seem to be many good strikers moving in this window. A one year loan would be ideal, assuming we're bringing in Erding or someone of his calibre.

    Joey Barton

We can't let him go now that Nolan is gone, I said before that I don't mind one or the other going, but not both. Unless we get offered stupid money that is, but we do need some leadership, even if only for the next year. I still think Barton will sign a new contract though.
  10. how would you achieve that? hang around looking through his windows, hoping his pools come up?? True, doubt he'd get any in the reserves. I think the next free signing will be out of the blue in true Newcastle style, I think we'll go for the drugged up Mexican, Guillermo Ochoa.
  11. I'd take Larsson to stop him going to Sunderland, he's a useful player. Upson might be worth a punt on a one-year deal as a 4th choice CB (Sol's replacement) if we don't want to splash out on a new second choice this summer. I'd also bring Shefki back, just so I can see his celebration.
  12. We have to sign someone fun to say like Raul Mereleshhhhhhhhhhhh
  13. ((55 000 * 52) * 5) + 4 500 000 = 18 800 000 Good to have him off our books, onwards and upwards.

    Mevlüt Erdinç

I asked douglas this morning if it was El Arabi, no response. That's who my money's on. He's been linked with Stoke and Wolves, but we should easily be able to blow them out of the water. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6969628,00.html
  15. Worth a shot, he did a great job on FM for me
  16. Is the interview only on nufc tv?
  17. I think my ideal signings for the rest of this window would be: Sturridge (12m) El Arabi (4m), Martin (8m)

    Gervinho

Same, would love to see us in for Marvin Martin too.
  19. So who's next in line now we've missed out on Gameiro? Youssef El-Arabi, Daniel Sturridge, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Connor Wickham, Djibril Cisse, Seydou Doumbia, Nicolas Anelka, Dimitar Berbatov?
  20. Agreed, I think that's the ideal scenario. Marvin Martin or Jeremy Menez in replacement.
  21. Look at the breakdown of the goals I posted earlier, take away the big front men or take away Barton and he's down to <5 goals a season, but If centre backs could stand in for Ameobi/Carroll's role at corners he could still get a few. The biggest consideration I think is the signing of Gameiro, if we get a quick player who is also a poacher, then Nolan is definitely surplus to requirements. My main concern is his age, sure he's influential, but do we want a captain on the decline, soon to become the new Alan Smith, or do we want one which matches the ambition and skill of the team.
  22. Adam has racked up more assists and contributed more in open play. He's also younger
  23. I would take 5m for him. Looking at his goals this season I don't think he'll be very effective in the small, pacey midfield we are building. He needs to play off a big front man so his scoring next season will depend on how much Ameobi and Best play. He also depends on quality crosses / corners usually from Barton, there is no guarantee of the same delivery this season if Barton is on his way or becomes a bench warmer. Newcastle 6-0 Aston Villa (31) Carroll knock down from Enrique Cross. (87) Ameobi knock down from Barton Corner. Newcastle 1-2 Stoke (43) Penalty. Carroll bundled down by Huth. West Ham 1-2 Newcastle (23) Carroll knock down from Barton Cross. Newcastle 5-1 Sunderland (26) Ameobi knock down from Barton Corner. (34) Carroll assist / attempted shot. (75) Ameobi knock down from Barton Corner. Newcastle 3-1 Liverpool (15) Carroll knock down from Barton Free Kick. Newcastle 5-0 West Ham (45) Poor clearance, side footed home 15 yards. Sunderland 1-1 Newcastle (52) Ameobi headed effort from a Barton Corner, backheeled in from a yard out. Newcastle 1-1 Bolton (13) Header from Tiote Cross. Newcastle 4-1 Wolverhampton (22) Long Ball. Knock down by Ameobi. Of course his leadership is important, but if we could only hold on to one of the two, I'd prefer that we kept Barton.
