That you can spend big but you are not guaranteed those players will be a success

Unless that’s not their business model here. We just don’t know for sure and this window was always going to go a long way in helping us understand how they are going to operate with us. We’ll know even more next summer when (hopefully) we’ve got some top drawer sponsors in to help offset FFP and we see what they spend on players then. FWIW I don’t think we really want to spend in January windows from what the owners have said

The other teams have improved their squads too and we can’t expect to produce the same overachievement unless we are operating an in environment where we are facing exactly the same circumstances/ fixtures etc that we did back then. It’s a whole new environment. I’d love it if we achieved 5th, love it! But I can’t see it without quite a few more top quality additions. Then again, who actually knows!

Totally agree about aiming for 7th or 8th. I just don’t think it’s going to be achievable without a couple more in like Maddison and another striker
