  1. Villa will be in for a shock in 5 years when they see N'Zogbia ACTUALLY cost them well over £20 million in fees and wages On a more serious note, how can Villa afford to buy these players and we can't? Bent, Given and N'Zogbia cost pretty much what they received for Young and Downing and I doubt they're finished either. Liverpool and Sunderland are reinvesting their huge transfer fees too.

What do you mean by "came from"? The £5.5m, where did that come from? I thought we were skint and it certainly didn't come from Ashley's pocket £5.5 million plus signing on fee, plus agents fees, plus all his future wages locked safely away in the bank etc. Wonder what all that adds up to? Or did we not do that before this summer?
  3. The difference is that most clubs would have re-invested the money back into the first team, like we were initially promised. Like Everton when they sold Rooney? (spent under £2m on Marcus Bent & Tim Cahill that summer) They went on to have their best season in 20 years. Rooney left on the last day of the summer transfer window and they loaned/bought Arteta and Beattie (for a club record) in the next window. Broke their transfer record 4 years in a row after 2004 too.
  4. There's a professional way to do things and an unprofessional way. But then you knew that.
  5. Yet another media car crash that could have been easily avoided. Club ban on twitter/facebook etc please.
  6. Has he deleted his account? Can't get it working.
  7. Fletcher and Carrick are the O'Shea and Brown of their midfield and Anderson looked about 20 stone a week ago.

The people who are being "forced" to sign up get more benefits than the season ticket holders who were actually forced to sign up to it.

http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20101130/payments-to-agents-200910_2281670_2233721 We bought/signed about 10 players in that time. We surely cannot have paid more than £5 million this summer.
  13. Sorry. Not allowed to make the slightest comment until all the players have finished their careers here, Jack Flash says so. You take this place far, far too seriously. Completely riled
  14. No, it isn't. Especially since you've probably seen him play only 4 or 5 times yourself and he was hugely out of his depth in most of those games. This is obviously going nowhere so no need to mega-post me again. It's not enough to make a categoric judgement but it's more than enough to point out simple observations about what kind of player he is FFS. What I've said is absolutely no different to people saying that Shane Ferguson looks a confident dribbler, or that they think he looks more suited to playing out wide etc. Players are scouted and signed on the basis of far fewer viewings than that, so I think pointing out pretty simple stuff like he's left footed and looks uncomfortable playing out wide is fair game. Honestly, man, what a load of nonsense you're spouting. Hope that doesn't count as a 'megapost'. Ferguson has actually proved those things in his few matches at a high level. Matches most of us have actually seen I should add, not just heard about. Vuckic has looked massively out of his depth in most (all?) of his high level matches so why people are making such specific judgements about him is comical. Ranger looked like he had an eye for a goal at reserve level fwiw. Repeating myself now. Might just buy football manager to see how he's going to turn out.

  16. What else are opinions of players supposed to be based on other than what we've seen? Most of his best performances for the reserves and youth team came when playing as an attacking midfielder through the middle, the same position he himself has said is his best position as recently as last week. Everything I have said is fundamentally obvious as it stands. Maybe his workrate will improve (one of the games last season for the first team he put himself about more than he ever has at other levels) as his career goes on, maybe he be able to play out wide more naturally as he develops. I cannot see the future. However as it stands he's a player that has proven to struggle when played even slightly out of position. This doesn't tend to change for players of his ilk. I'm basing my analysis on what I've seen of him up to now, you're just being pointlessly dismissive and awkward. "pointlessly dismissive and awkward" because I haven't made several judgements on a player with maybe 20 games in his whole career, with about 4 of those at a decent level? Maybe let him have a few more first team starts before you start thinking you've figured it all out, eh?
  17. It's not difficult to know which foot he is and what his favourite position is. "he's not really the kind of player who could go outside" "he's not one to challenge in the air" "Might have been worth swapping him and Hatem round at some point of the game." All based on very little evidence. Eh? it's pretty basic analysis based on watching him play for both the reserves and the full team. He's a typical European style #10 who's not likely to track back and put himself about as much as his size suggests. In the reserves he rarely challenges for the ball in the air and when he does he looks uncomfortable doing it. He's also not a natural wide player who can get to the byline and put crosses in, hence why I said he looks uncomfortable going outside of a fullback. He looked more comfortable when he moved towards the middle of the pitch in his natural area, hence why I said it might have been worth swapping at some point since Ben Arfa is comfortable out wide as well as in the middle. I really don't know what you're getting at, it's all very basic observations who I'm sure the likes of OCK and Greg who have seen him even more would agree with. But all that is based on reserve games (most of which haven't been seen) and a few appearances at a level he clearly isn't ready for. He needs far more games at a high level to work him out. Can I just assume he's amazing on computer games or something?

  19. Seems to be a lot of experts on him on here despite him only playing about 3 games in his entire career.

This is probably closest to the truth for me. I've been to a few hundred games and I've never seen anything too bad. One of my biggest pet hates is very drunk people so I probably wouldn't go to games if it was as bad as some are suggesting.
  21. Agreed. Plenty of places around the ground to go before the match.
  22. Barton saying the fans were asking him to stay. No confronting.

    Alan Pardew

Pardew's in a job which is more than he was before he signed on here. Not just any old job either, it's one of the best in football so I doubt he's squirming that much. He's publicly said that he's had great support from Ashley and Dekka as well. I agree he's hit some kind of career jackpot but hearing him answer questions about the £35 million makes me worry. The excuses seem like they're thought up during the question. I doubt he'd dare say anything negative about Big Derek and Ashley either. The "Carroll cannot be sold at any price" turned into "It's for the best innit" very quickly, for example. its a rare manager who says something negative about his boss True. Ironically, the things Keegan got his wrist slapped for saying are the things Pardew should be saying (publicly or privately).
