I know City to it to most teams. But passing and running through Chelsea at ease here.

Seeing as you seem to love a scouting report. Please provide reports on players as good or better and for less money. Please also explain how they’ll fit into Howe’s system. Could send it all to the club. Tell them their scouting network is shit and we’re wasting our money on Guehi.

I am talking about if a player that cost £40-50-60m or whatever x amount of years ago. If you adjust that for inflation. Then you would have a lot of players coming up over £70m. Not really sure what is so hard to understand about that. But you and Zero seem to completely miss this point or just deliberately talking about something else. So on that. I’ll bow out. As it’s giving me a headache typing out the same shit over and over again.

What was the one under the bridge Gateshead side? Always decent enough when I went there and never mad busy. Tokens for your beer and food was annoying, mind.
-
FFS. I forgot it’s Drury on Sky. Not missed this bloke.
-
No idea. Maguire and VVD off the top of my head. Do we actually know we are spending £70m, anyway? What would the best CB’s in world football be worth? Also. Transfer fees get inflated every single season. Should the question not be what would previous fees be today, adjusted for inflation/today’s market? I’d imagine there would be a reasonably long list.
-
You. Are. Not. Paying. Best. Player. In. The. World. Money. So no. I’m not missing the point. Did you figure that last point out of today’s game. Or has this inability to show someone down the line always been a worry of yours

Wasn’t it his left shoulder that went?
-
Ok. From whenever I’ve seen him. He’s quick, very strong and aggressive into the tackle, extremely comfortable on the ball, great recovery pace for either his error or another player’s and ability to sweep. I also think he will continue to improve as a player. As he is 24 and has his peak years ahead of him at the position. So that needs to be factored in. Not good today and not great in the air, I don’t think anyone is disputing that. Try and read posts properly next time. I said ‘in today’s market’. Why are you comparing past transfer fees from years gone by and ignoring inflation and the fact players go for more and more every single season. I suppose Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo are the best centre mids in the world as they cost £120m apiece?
-
Looks like a court jester. Also getting a bit of Two Face from Batman vibes about that costume.
-
I didn’t call him one of the best CB’s in the world? What on earth are you talking about? If you want to use the fee paid/quoted. Then that would be daft. As that would mean Harry Maguire is one of the best that isn’t how it works. Saliba, Stones, Dias, VVD, Rudiger, Araujo, Gabriel etc. What would they go for in today’s market. Assuming they had a good few years left at the top level. Particularly the ones in the prem.
-
All this based on one game. Where he won’t be fully up to speed after the Euros and could well be struggling mentally with quite a bit on his mind. Seems a bit knee jerk. The fee does seem high. But the premium for English players from this league always is. It’s nothing new. 3 years ago he cost £18m as a 21 year old and he’s clearly massively kicked on from there. With the state of today’s fees. It’s not that outrageous. Even if we are possibly over-paying by say 5-10 mil. As others have said. Could be because of this sell on clause being a sticking point for Palace and they’re trying to cover it this way.
-
Despite the fact that he has been highly rated for at least the last couple of years. With Palace fans always championing his ability. Not really sure how he’s a one tournament wonder. We basing that off one poor performance today?
-
Also think players that went deep into the knockouts at the Euros are coming back a bit short. Based on just watching us. Gordon wasn’t good yesterday and wasn’t 100%. Trippier didn’t get a look in and has barely featured since being back.
-
Only watched half the interview. But feel more positive about a deal than before. Looked to be lying or yet again trying to drum up interest. Mentioning speaking to ‘other people’ and other clubs expressing interest.
-
Going into the season with him as our number 2. Is nearly as bad as the right wing situation. Proved last season he’s not good enough for this level anymore. He plays smaller than he is and has no command of his box. Stylistically, he’s the polar opposite to Pope and no good for how we want to play. Unless we sell Dubravka, plus this bloke whose name I can’t spell and then go back in for Trafford or another keeper. It seems a risk if that’s what we’re doing.
-
I think it is more because Krafth is more comfortable in the system and has been here a long while versus a couple of months for Kelly. Surely Kelly is just a much better CB, so would play otherwise? I swear it is only recently we’ve had a fascination with playing a lefty at LCB and a right footer next to them. I suppose in an ideal world you’d do that and if there isn’t much between players. Then you would. I just don’t remember it ever being flagged as much of an issue until the last 2-3 years.
-
Yeah, because no transfers ever end up being busts. Not saying I thought that about Gordon. Yes there were some mad takes on him. It was obvious he was going to come on for a pre season with us. But he still hadn’t performed particularly well with us and we had also just lost ASM. Plenty thought Barnes might even be the starter or at least provide a lot more competition and there would be more rotation. As it happened. Gordon became one of the first names on the team sheet and played out of his skin all season. Barnes got injured for 3-4 months. Total revisionism to say he had been good and act like there were no worries at all around his performances or future performances. Perhaps not a crystal ball. But you’re being Captain Hindsight, for sure.
-
You don’t think 10 goals and 11 assists or whatever it was, was a surprise? Even when his attacking output has always been terrible throughout his career (playing for a shit side, granted). Can I borrow your crystal ball, please?
-
If you’re faking an injury. You fake an injury. Why wouldn’t he be ‘pretend wincing’. We’ve done this loads before and so have other clubs. Fuck all to worry about.
-
I always feel like we play a bit crap here? Small pitch, long old way to go, their style of play. All genuine reasons? One COVID year in that orange kit being the outlier. Might be totally wrong. There were certainly excuses last year with so many missing. Genuinely no idea what to expect. A 2-0 either way wouldn’t surprise me.
-
Looked to me like the tactic for the second half was to split him and Gordon/Barnes wide and to stay high. Conserving energy for counters. As they’ll be the only two that properly commit and get forward. Everyone else was behind the ball. He will have also been absolutely shagged doing doggies up there on his own for the most part. A lot of lost causes. Got the assist for the goal and was the only attacking threat and bright spark in their half in the second half. But other than that
-
I didn’t want ASM to leave. But can understand why Howe would want someone different and in hindsight. It was the correct call. I think Barnes is a good player and glad we got him. But using hindsight, again. Perhaps we could have used the £38m on someone who is more comfortable on the right. Whilst also able to do a job on the left. On that last bit. Not sure we’re any better or worse than any other club for being dickheads towards our own players? Not frequented other team’s forums or social media posts to check. From general pub talk. It depends on the person and it’s more about personalities, I find.
-
Complete myth? He came in and showed glimpses. Then got injured if memory serves? Came back and was good if a bit inconsistent and didn’t score or assist until the last game of the season, I think. Hardly could have predicted the season he had. Even though he was obviously going to improve with a preseason. You’ve got it the other way around. If I could be arsed to go and check his thread. I would
