I get what you're saying for sure, and when I had my ST with all those points, I was guilty of it myself (getting tickets for others and not actually going). But in the interests of being fair to all, we need to make sure it doesn't become an absolute closed shop. An away game is fantastic - as you will know - even those spanking defeats turn into the best days. We don't want to become a club that takes that experience away from younger fans going forward.

Do I think people should lose their points? Absolutely not. Do I think it needs reviewed? Absolutely yes.

I've always advocated giving points for ST renewal, cup + friendly games as well as purchases in the ground/club shop. Sure, people will abuse it no doubt, but an easy way for people to get points quick. The argument of 'go to the unfashionable games and you will gain the points' doesn't wash anymore. The lowest it's dropped this season (I get that it's early doors) is 15 points. That's 15 away games. Not sure many 15/16/17 year old lads and lasses would have been able to accumulate that so far.

I'm not asking for it to be completely overhauled, just some positive changes to make it fairer. Sadly, I doubt it will change anytime soon as the Trust seem to hold the cards and they only protect their interests, as we all know.

I personally think the way forward is e-tickets that can only be downloaded to one specified device. Not advocating doing that any time soon, and people will say ‘what about fans that don’t have smartphones’ etc, but I feel like that’s the eventual destination of travel with this.

 

 

 

This is what's used at NFL games to my knowledge, so you're probably right. It would help as well.

At the current rate, even if I can get an away League Cup game (Tranmere sold out midweek ffs ) once a season, it's going to take me 100+ years to get close to ever getting enough points for some fixtures.

I actually queried this with a Trust board member @ Burnley away last season. He was sound enough, but my argument was (as someone who previously had 150pts) that they lied about their scheme, and the current system allows people to just buy tickets to hoard points and sell them on, thus the other spending the money etc and that person getting the loyalty point. He said 'well you're here aren't you  which is very true and shut me up, but it also proved the point I was making really. FWIW the kid I got the ticket off has over 200pts and has been to 1 away game in 2 years. He's done the hard miles, 100%, but there needs to be something - as you suggested above - to give youngsters coming through a chance of going to away games without having to beg someone.

Would be devastated if my son couldn't experience what I did in the early 00s - drinking warm cans at 8am as a 14 year old on a bus full of older fellas. Fucking class.

Points should either be rolling (that won't be popular), a % to people below the threshold in a ballot, or you have to prove it's you who attends the game. 

I actually know his family pretty well. During the summer, his dad and Chrissy (as he’s known) met with a good few teams in the Premier League, definitely including Man Utd.

As someone’s already said, they are massive NUFC fans. NUFC matched what Man Utd were offering which is excess of about 25x (seriously) what SAFC could offer.

The kid himself was apparently torn as SAFC basically laid out a path to the first team, but I reckon he will end up at NUFC. He had the eye emoji and the Hilton hotel on his Facebook not too long ago, so I’d be shocked if it isn’t done already. 

He played against Hebburn Town first team this summer, didn’t stand out to be fair, but in his defence - given he had just turned 15 in June, he was playing against proper blokes.

There isn’t a bigger prick in football than Klopp these past 18/24 months like. Odious pig.

Tend to agree. His vision and passing ability is absolutely up there in world football. He sees things before they develop, much like De Bruyne. But it's crazy how often he's exposed as a defender. I'm surprised they've never shifted VVD to RCB to try and help, although I think Konate missing probably doesn't help at the moment.

All they seem to do is diagonal balls all game long. They don't seem to be creating many clear cut chances either, even against Palace before the sending off I can't remember them really testing the keeper. 

Was the same in the finals they played in last season, and even against Wolves on the final day they were poor. Obviously underlying issues when you constantly concede first too. I'm still annoyed we played them at 12:30 in April, we didn't really get going.

From reading RAWK, a lot of them think VVD hasn't been the same since his injury, which I suppose is fair enough. But think Carragher nailed it last night - he almost defends with (justified) arrogance. The goal in Champions League final, the penalty v Mitro, Zaha's goal all could be blamed to him. Last night was absolutely shambolic defending - Bruno literally was pointing for about 5 minutes to Sancho where to put it. Seemed to have the ball for what seemed like an age.

Also would 100% be playing James ahead of Alexander-Arnold in the World Cup. TAA is a fantastic footballer, but the system at Liverpool suits him perfectly. He's never a right-back in a million years, he just plays there. Hopefully ASM has a game like Sunday next Wednesday as we have half a chance if so.

Although saying all that, I'd still fancy them to get to latter stages of Champions League and push Man City relatively close in the league. We're all pretty guilty of being dramatic when it comes to football, they could easily win their next 4 comfortably. 

It's the exact type of signing I'd expect Man Utd to make. 

I think, certainly short term, it's a good signing and in a position they clearly need, so fair play. But the money involved for the age he is just makes the whole thing look messy.

There's so many more options that have went already this summer or would definitely move to Man Utd for much less. They should be building for the future - much like Real Madrid are trying to do - rather than signing a player who's best years are arguably going to be behind him (tbf, Casemiro could probably play to a high level for another 3y+). Vencedor would be a great signing, but think he signed a new deal recently.

tbh it could be wrong and out of date  now, was last summer I read it. I imagine Eredivise is quite different too.

Depends what you class as recent. Son, KDB and Firminho were 2015.

I think imports from the Portuguese league has one of the best strike rates in recent years for players matching/exceeding their stats from over there.

Bundesliga one of worst IIRC.

They seem to have a pretty decent recruitment team because they are getting some decent players for really excellent value, which is great going for a team that just came up.

I think 5? Could be wrong. To be honest I have no idea how many they've actually signed, but it must be at least a new XI.

Not sure how this will all work out for Forest. Signing so many players in such a short space of time will piss off the players that got them up, plus you have to hope these new players can figure it out pretty fast.

Will be interesting to watch but I doubt it's the right way to go about it. The teams that have been most successful teams (to my knowledge) getting promoted and staying up basically keep 5/6 of their XI from Championship as their key players. Just Johnson probably for them? Huge risk they've taken.

Should be awarded a loyalty point for purchasing a ticket as a member imo. 
 

season ticket holders should also get points for renewing. Opens it up a bit more.

Appreciate this has been done to death, so apologies in advance. But it still absolutely baffles me the amount of our fans on twitter literally point-scoring over having a ST and just abusing those who can't get one now. Really has been getting to me this week.

I remember people who stopped going under Ashley saying some unsavoury things to those who kept going - scabs etc - so definitely not innocent. But I'd have loved to have thought that now, when everything is on an upward trajectory with regards to NUFC, people could just actually Unite and all be on board for the first time in a generation. Demand is far exceeding supply for the first time since the 90s, and back then it meant we had to go from 36k - 52k to accommodate.

Twitter is certainly not the best place to grasp an overall perspective of attitudes - totally get that - but seeing some say they'd be against extending as it accommodates us glory-hunting fans ffs Surely there has to be some form of glory involved? I'd like to think that in reality, there isn't an NUFC fan alive who wouldn't be against extending SJP if it was possible. I think we'd all prefer that to moving, but to want to keep it @ 52k just to be spiteful is fucking ridiculous. Our owners definitely won't think like that thankfully, but I've muted so many accounts since Tuesday. I'd bet a good few of these tits only got a ticket in the Ashley era and took the place of someone who packed in anyways.

Hopefully these wankers never have to try and get a ticket for a son/daughter in the future, as without extending it will be pretty hard to do. Rant over.

I know other clubs use a ballot system, and some having a rolling points system (Sunderland IIRC being one of them). Either way, in order to avoid away days becoming a closed shop, it will need reviewed. Those with 50pts probably stand little to no chance of away games except midweeks, which I also get is the argument to build your points up.

Seems that this will be the case this season. Don't think it will (or should) be the entire away allocation, but should at least stop people buying for others and allow people chance to build up points for away games in future.

Seems that there may be a ballot for some away tickets this season.

Was just mooching about the hospitality brochure on .co.uk and noticed that all options (Executive, SBR Suite, Moncur, Heroes, Magpie etc) have the opportunity to enter 'away ticket ballot'.

Not sure if that's a new thing or not, but could be linked to the random new ballot section on website?
