Ben Arfa? Got hauled off marra I mean for me, Ben Arfa would be my choice for captain, he leads by example and he isn't afraid to tell people what to do, he's always pointing where people should pass to etc. Back to Mapou, GNev's analysis was quite alarming, you can't run away from danger. It's basic, basic stuff here. His aimless long punt gifting them possession was also diabolical, but then again nobody was moving or showing for the ball so what can you do? Serious problems all over the pitch now.

Ben Arfa?

Sad

Saying that though, Lukaku had the ball in the net about 4 times in that first half

Did you watch the game? this is flat out not true. He lost it once or twice but more times than he lost it he got round the outside of Coleman and the one time he switched with Sissoko to go central he beat his man and had a decent shot. Pardew taking him off could be a number of things: he got mouthy at halftime and questioned tactics?, he was injured?, or pardew was annoyed with his selfishness and/or lack of work ethic. He was the only player trying to make something happen for us in that first half. The fact it's been 2 years running now that Pardew has refused to play him in his usual position because he's scared of Baines really annoys me. For 1, once baines was on a yellow card Ben Arfa should have been switched immediately to try and get him sent off by taking him on. Secondly if he was so scared of what Baines would do going forward surely him having Ben Arfa behind him would have meant he couldn't attack as much anyway. It's amazing how different Pardew views things though, he's far more concerned with attempting to stop other players, rather than letting the opposition worry about us, which would actually help stop opponents, as you said with regards to Baines and Ben Arfa. It honestly baffles me how somebody can be so negative all the time despite seeing very little in terms of positive results.

Tiote annoyed the hell out of me yesterday. Can't believe he's just waltzed back into the side.

Got into football during the 95/96 season and really liked Newcastle because of the way they played and how exciting they were to watch. However wasn't overly into football until Euro 96, where I just idolised Shearer. Then of course he joined us, so it was natural for me to follow Newcastle. Dad figured it'd be a phase and took me to my first Millwall match when I was 8 to see if I would enjoy it . The next year we went to Wimbledon v Newcastle and seeing Shearer score was just so great. Been hooked ever since. Regarding having an affinity with the area, that's certainly been the case. Didn't get up to Newcastle to see a game until 2007, but since then I try and come back at least once a year and I just love the area. Honestly considering moving up there, would love a change in scenery.

Christ, I thought I was going OTT. Gonna happen man.

3-1 win for us.

I know what you mean about not getting "excited", in that when Hatem has the ball i'm instantly on the edge of my seat, however Sammy was always very positive in his play. Don't agree about not making it, think he's got all the ingredients to do well and I actually agree with the lad next to you, he's still about a season away imo.

He'll never change. Either flog him or don't use him, he's such a nothing player.

I hope we put out as strong a team as possible for this, I'd love us to progress.
