I'd say the treatment of Ben Arfa comes close /tinhat
-
Thought he was a bit of a joke on Saturday. I do however like him and think he's very handy as back up. But it's so obvious we need another CB, who can perhaps step in for Colo in terms of playing the ball out etc. Oh yeah and some pace might help.
-
Bit err nervousss about the game tbh. Lads need to respond in a big way considering how poor we've been last 2 games. Playing some football might go some way to acheiveing that.

dunno, you can kind of picture him sat at home in one of those big old people type chairs, looking mournfully through his french doors to his garden. the phone rings in the hall way and his face lights up. Mrs Bruce answers the phone, he strains to hear, "Oh hello maureen......no nothing, i'm sure something will come up soon..........". steve turns his head back to the garden, forlorn. a tear runs down his cheek and splashes on a crumpled up greggs pastie sized bag at his feet. Such wonderous imagery

The current pool of players England has available is more than good enough to challenge anyone in the world and possibly even win a tournament with some dumb luck. They're not though really. They're not as good as Spain or Germany, but far worse players have won tournaments before. The way England is talked about sometimes you'd think they were South Korea or something. In terms of individual talent England would no doubt be one of the top 10 teams in the World. It's just a matter of how that talent is being utilized. I think sheer luck would be the only conceivable way for England to win a tournament. I think we probably have a hand full of world class players, but the issue is that they don't seem to work as a team and haven't done for years. Because of this, I don't think we can mix it with the big boys at all.

Seriously, the amount of shite flying around the pitch and the actual state of the pitch itself, what the hell?!

DRAGGED KICKING AND SCREAMING!!!1!!!1!111

HAULED OFF.

I don't know why but I find the "Mag [at various locations]" thing hilarious

Jonas have looked good the few times he have been moved in to the center of the pitch imo. Looks like he can use his technique better in the middle. So i would like to see it more. Agree. His awkward wtf style of running and control worked really well in the centre. Couple that with his workrate and he was covering virtually every blade of grass.
-
I disagree, I think the problem is that he thinks too much. He is indecisive at times though, that's true. Ah yeah that kinda makes more sense, it's like he's trying to think of every scenario that could unfold when he's holding the ball up unecessarily . I think that's kinda what I mean when I say "no footballing brain"
-
Obertan is just a speed merchant. Has no footballing brain from what I can tell and very poor technique in terms of first touch, passing ability and crossing. Kind of important for a winger in my eyes.
-
Done a better job as a winger in this game than Obertan has done all season.
-
I don't think he's horrible, he just gets shown up against the better players. We know his limitations, but I think he's decent enough cover.
-
Well Spurs were simply a class above us. The team selection frustrated the hell out of me, but what ya gona do?

The situation is beyond baffling for me. If you wanted someone to watch Bale tonight, Jonas was your man, not Obertan. This opens the door for Ben Arfa to have a go at LW and cause some problems. Instead Pardew bottles it and goes with what he thinks is the safe option in Obertan. Who, for me was at fault for several goals today if his role was indeed to track the LB/LW of Spurs. So half time was the chance to rectify this, we're 4-0 down, may aswell throw the guy on and see if we can salvage some respect. Instead he goes for someone who's far less experienced and in my eyes not as talented in Shane Fergusson, (who I do like and rate btw). Finally, at 5-0 down and nothing to lose, the decision is made to bring on Gosling. Just cannot understand this at all. My last glimmer of hope is that Pardew wants to wait until Tiote and Cabaye are back so Ben Arfa can truly have a free role and not worry about defending, however I can't see it happening and as such can't see Ben Arfa lasting here. Which is a massive, massive disappointment for me. End of rant
-
Nah sorry can't be dealing with this. Bring off a striker for Gosling when we're being humped 5-0. Why.
-
God, they're a bitter bunch aren't they.
-
Wow Capello actually going to a game, that's awfully good of him

Might have to look for an Arsenal away last season performance here to get something. Hopefully our lads up top can cause a bit of havoc, I would start Ben Arfa because we're going to need something special to unlock them I feel. Possibly on LW, Jonas being RW to provide Simmo with cover. I'm aware this probably won't happen but a man can dream
