The "delighted Ashley has gone, but uncomfortable with Saudi ownership" thread
Smal replied to UncleBingo's topic in Football
Agree with the first para but the fans did get a say in it. They campaigned for this takeover. The point has been made but it’s not a coincidence that KSA chose this particular football club, with a group of fans so desperate to be rid of the previous owner that they’ll wilfully go in to bat for genocidal war criminals. -
That Relatives agency must be rolling in cash.

Idk why you seem to feel so persecuted over this -
Surely nobody with a reasonable rep is joining us in January. We’re really quite likely to get relegated. Especially with a World Cup coming up next winter.

hahahaha, ole's at the wheel!
-
Why is this so fucking funny
-
God those camera shots of Ole after the 4th and at half time . Brutal camera work.

But it's not an example because it (or any other signings!) didn't happen!! -

You get easily rattled by something that hasn't happened? -

On the contrary fans absolutely pushed and campaigned relentlessly for this takeover to happen, so they certainly did have a choice. Staveley herself said it never would have happened without that. -

I understand why. Still important to call it out though. -

Who cares what the motivation behind their point is? The moral argument they are making is a) unequivocal and b) really important. The motivations I would question are the Newcastle fans trying to pick holes in these arguments. Why are you fighting against it? Ultimately it’s because you want them to stop making these arguments which, in my view at least, is really wrong and unhelpful. -

There will definitely be an element of that, but calling Crystal Palace fans making a stand against Saudi Arabian state ownership hypocritical just because someone involved in their club’s ownership is also bad (in a significantly lesser way) is simply ridiculous. Accept the criticisms because they’re true, valid and important. The motivation behind them is not at all important. Once you start trying to pick holes in it you’re lost. -

We really need to stop trying to find criticisms for people pointing out human rights abuses, or their dead husband, or war crimes. It’s a really fucking bad look and is absolutely evidence of successful sportswashing. -

It’s not hypocrisy at all ffs. -
Think we’ll be a lot better once we get Clarke out of the team. He was absolutely horrendous for their goal. Weak as piss attempt to dispossess Gallagher immediately followed by shit marking on the cross. He’s finished.

Aye, hope we see similar every week tbh -
Would put Almiron for Longstaff and play Almiron - Hayden - Fraser. Need legs in those outside mid position in this formation.
-
Must've realised they actually like the state cheerleading
-
The plan is obviously counter. The midfield are playing high risk passes rather than for possession. They're still shit at it like, but don't expect any possession from us.
-
I don't really get Fraser over Almiron in this system at all . He must've been awesome in training.
-
We are deep but pressing them well once they get to a certain line. There's some tactics on display for once at least.
-
Hoping it's a back four with Manquillo LB and Krafth RB but that's an awful team whichever way it lines up.
