We have struggled to come back from losing positions in the league for years. We only came back to win something like 4 times under Pardew, we have had a mentally fragile squad for ages now and the heads go down as soon as we go behind.

For us rush keeper was fog man back (for the forrins out there "fog" in this instance means "first"), First player back behind a designsted area, usually a stone, was allowed to handle the ball. Not as far as i remember, but tbf we would get bored and eventually just play 'snappy football' until somebody got hurt/died.

Rush keeper/fog man back was normally only allowed if the two sides were of unequal numbers. Only difference is that with rush keeper you have a set person playing in goal.

Bollocks. Murphy hasn't played all season, came in and taken his chance. Stop making excuses. Murphy is 33 and has bags of experience at this level though, not really fair to compare the two.

I somewhat agree with this. He has only played in bits and pieces this season, and gets thrown into action with a weaker team behind him. He will only improve if he is given a regular start, but that will never happen while Gayle is in such good form. Plus Rafa will never have two up front and because of this it would probably be better for him and us, if he did move elsewhere.
