We could do that anyway, seeing as we have no wingers apart from Aarons and it would put Sissoko in his natural position and allow Perez to start.
-
On here no one is really, on twitter they can't stop talking about him though
-
Said this before, but i genuinely believe the club got Perez as a long term De Jong replacement ( ) they saw De Jong as the next guy they could get for cheap, move on as a massive profit and then Perez would sneak in there in a couple of years time. They obviously didn't think that Perez would be this good so quickly and De Jong wouldn't spend the entire season on the treatment table. Could be a massive conspiracy on my behalf but yeah.

He'll probably be on the bench regardless, He's not gonna start as a CF ahead of Mitrovic or AM ahead of De Jong. Should be remembered that neither were there last season for one reason or another, although he'll still play loads considering he's probably right behind De Jong in the AM pecking order and we are all very aware of his injury record.

I haven't watched a single second of pre season, but i really can't take any of it serious considering even under Pardew we looked better in pre season than we would in a professional game I'll judge them when i see how the team performs against Southampton.

Couldn't care less, as long as he fucks off.

Of course we are but it's not really the point as it's still nowhere near enough. When Cabaye left we were in the top 6, since then we have lost Debuchy, Remy, Ben Arfa, Santon and Yanga-Mbiwa. That's an awful lot of talent to lose and the vast majority haven't really been replaced, 2 or 3more quality players and i'd be relatively positive about the situation seeing as we would have replaced 5 or 6 talented players with 5 or 6 talented players. It's just replacing players we lost for no reason for some of it, but at least we wouldn't be disgustingly short like we are now.

Creativity usually gets narrowed to vision, dribbling ability and passing range. I do agree though, intelligent off the ball movement is just as likely to create a chance than any of those things. Shock and horror we have had no decent off the ball movement in the team for god knows how long, De Jong and Wijnaldum at least seemingly provide that whether it actually comes together is another question entirely.

Savage just says shit to be contrarian, fucking hate the taffy eating scum.
-
Assuming though that there is any chance of a diamond formation happening, Dummett doesn't really have the offensive ability to be relied upon for width. Not that i believe it though, if McClaren was considering it he would have tried it at least once in pre season.

Nothing to suggest that we are though tbf.

Aye there is no one issue, there's multiple
-
Struggle to believe that.

He's bang average like a lot of the prem experience players people want us to buy, I'd much rather risk buying a highly rated foreigner than the majority of crap we can get in this league. There's a reason a vast majority of teams in this league cannot defend very well at all.
-
Aye i can see Perez working well with either one actually, although about the defense i'm worried about that in any system
-
If you actually want to go 442 diamond it does actually make sense considering the make up of the squad, although i still say this particularly signing doesn't makes sense as Perez would be a better partner in terms of fit. There's the question of Aarons though and quite frankly i don't want to see him on the bench regardless.

Also most footballers believe they are better than they actually are, it's how they get to being professional footballers to begin with, the arrogance of you are better than anyone else is just a big a reason than anything else. It rings true even for scrubs like Mike Williamson, if you don't believe in yourself then you will find yourself out of the job fast.

When have you ever seen a successful diamond formation in the premiership? It's the stuff of fantasy. We've struggled to get a 433/451 system to work. The only real success we have ever had is with 442. For us? never. There's been plenty of examples on other teams though, although almost all of them had plenty of pace in the side though which outside of Aarons we do lack tbh. I can't think of one in this league. Liverpool for starters when they nearly won the league a couple of years ago, Wenger has used a diamond multiple times and Ancelotti did. I'm not particularly convinced it can't work but you do need a lot of the pace for it to be viable and as of right now we don't have it IMO. Also as bowlingcrofty pointed out, Keegan used one to somehow great effect with our mismatch of players in his 2nd stint still don't know how that worked.
-
Really can't see Arsenal being in for him considering they have an abundance of wide players who don't get near the team as is.

I'm willing to see how it goes, convinced we'll have to get a quality option come January though.
