When was the last time Cisse got injured? But yeah we shall ignore that. Anyway we will sign a forward i'm pretty certain about that, Ashley can't risk us going down and missing out on all that fabulous tv money. Sometimes i think the people who are pro-Ba want us to fail and not sign anyone just to make sure they are right
-
Neither of them are capable well Ba is capable but he refuses to do so..... Only one of them should be in the line up in this day and age and considering Ba has a release clause and is asking for well beyond double what Cisse earns and Ba cost nothing and Cisse cost 10m it was quite obvious who Ashley would prefer to be moved on. You can't play with 2 pure "9s" these days be successful so get the most possible potential of the team and i emphasis the word " team". eventually one of them would have to be moved on for someone who could fit into the team fabric because it's quite painfully obvious that Ba and Cisse cannot co-exist.

Aye Tiote is definitely worth 80k
-
Graham would be a decent squad option like Best was but i'd be expecting a lot more than Graham alone

Ba has never scored 20 a season in his career And losing a player to Chelsea that had a 7.5m clause in his contract doesn't prove that we are nothing club either. As far as i recall we didn't sell any players in the summer despite plenty of interest.... Yes we sold Carroll for 35m and Enrique when he has 12 months to run but this selling club s*** blah blah has got to stop. We have no control over this situation as Ba has a release clause and if we were a selling club the likes of Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Tiote etc etc would have been sold in the summer and we wouldn't have gave long term contracts to likes of Colo and Krul. But hey keep peddling the same old tired crap to support your agenda.

Players You Are Pleased We Didn't Sign (in Retrospect)

He's been fantastic as an AM behind Berba this season, just been injured for last 6 weeks or so.... He's a great player IMO he's not really something we need now Marv has come into his own or starting to do so but he's not exactly someone i'm glad we didn't get either. -
Obviously i'm assuming the players we get are actually good enough ofcourse if they are trash then we could buy 11 players and it wouldn't help much And based on our recent track record with buying players i'd say im right to be confident the players we bring in will be good enough.
-
Aye but for some reason i think we will buy one.... anyway this is only going to go two ways... Really really good or really really bad, there really is no middle ground.
-
Delighted with that tbh, i can't really complain if all that happens.
-
Marveaux's performances in the last few weeks may convince Ashley that we don't need Remy. I bloody hope not considering unlike Marveaux.... Remy can actually play as a CF

The better all-round player is going, don't think there's any doubt about that at all. However, I've personally got no doubt that if it's down to Cisse to take the central role on his shoulders and be the "main man" again he'll come up trumps for us. He's a special player in his own right. Agreed. Think Ba is the better all-round footballer but Cisse is the better out-and-out striker. Completely disagree like. Yep I disagree too, I think it's the other way around. We were miles better last season with Ba out wide and Cisse through the middle. Obviously it's not as cut and dry as that but it does say a lot. Agree tbh, they are both fantastic strikers i don't feel there is great deal of difference between the two in general play and that's the crux of the problem in their partnership. They both are fantastic goalscorers but outside of that don't offer a great deal so the partnership just breaks down.
-
Not just a striker either it needs to be a striker like Remy for example if we buy another "9" i think i'm going to cry.

Why did one have to go? You could argue because they can't work together..... either Cisse is outwide and quite frankly useless or Ba and Cisse are up top and the whole team can't function. Despite the dreams of rotating Ba and Cisse it was never going to happen under this management so maybe in the long run shipping Ba out for someone who could you actually make the attack function as Ba and Cisse have never really functioned together. Will probably end up with egg on our faces but that's the rationale behind it i believe. I'm not even on about rotation per se. Again, despite everybody here getting a hard on for 433/451, that doesn't seem to be the formation Pardew favours most of the time, rightly or wrongly. I completely fail to see why we couldn't have two quality strikers. Isn't that the least any Premiership club aiming for Europe should have? People have a hard on for it because it's what suits the majority of our best players if they are put in the right positions anyway.... Pardew has used almost exclusively since the Southampton defeat and i know it hasn't brought results ( mainly due to injuries and other factors so players are out of position) but i feel performances have performed. I agree but it was never going to happen, as a two they don't work and you know what this board is like..... In an ideal scenario i'd like to see us bring in a forward to play wide, rotate Ba and Cisse for central striker spot but Ashley will never sanction that in a million years. I'm still skeptical because im not confident in this board doing the right thing but if we bought a winger-cum striker like Remy to replace him and put Cisse back in the centre i'd believe the team would have actually improved.
-
That's really irrelevant because only one of them can perform to the best of their abilities at any one time.... Either Ba offers nothing or scores all the goals or Cisse offers nothing or scores all the goals. The two of them together don't work and under this board it was always only going to end one way....

We are only stronger if Debuchy is followed through the door by Remy and Douglas tbh... otherwise nah.
-
I wouldn't mind him as a squad option but basically replace Ba? that ain't going to cut it for me. I would expect to see someone like Remy or Aubameyang, anything less and our worst fears have been realised.
-
Can't Remy play down the middle as well? Aye he played there last season where he scored 20+ in all comps, i'd expect us to play him and Hatem outwide flanking Cisse when all are fit though. If we bought him that is
-
We don't need a direct replacement for Ba.... we need someone who can play across the front line with pace and dribbling skills and ability to link up as well as playing striker. Remy would be my choice and hopefully that happens on paper at least Remy-Cisse-Ben Arfa isn't any worse than Ba-Cisse-Ben Arfa. And unlike Ba-Cisse-Ben Arfa it's actually functionable at least i would assume so.
-
Though others have seemed to be stepping up in recent weeks compared to a few months ago. I don't find it a coincidence that the improvement in style have a led to an improvement in performances in said players. I'm pretty confident that Cisse can replace his goals i just hope we can get someone like Remy to add some pace and width.
-
All i ask for is he's replaced properly.... no one is bigger than the club just replace him properly ffs.
-
The only positive in this is at least its getting done early so we can replace him.... Remy, Centre back and Debuchy please
-
I'd take Amorebieta from Bilbao too tbh but other than that it's a bit meh imo.
